Chapter 26 Overwhelmed with Praise (2/2)

Gu Chengyu panicked. His business acumen and strategic thinking vanished.

He frantically wiped away her tears, his tone more awkward and coaxing than ever before: "Don't cry, don't cry... It's my fault, I came back late... Don't cry, be good..."

Su Qianqian felt even more wronged as he coaxed her.

She sobbed, then buried her face in his broad, warm neck again, her voice muffled, nasal, and tinged with jealousy: "...Your ex-girlfriend..."

"Ex-girlfriend?" Gu Chengyu was taken aback, his brows furrowing instantly.

Where did he get an ex-girlfriend?

Previously, this word didn't exist in Gu Chengyu's dictionary.

Which of those beautiful women is a good match for her?

Only recently have I had such a precious daughter, whom I cherish and give a proper title to.

In a flash, Lin Shu's beautiful face flashed through his mind. Was she his ex-girlfriend?

Gu Chengyu recalled the last time in the backstage corridor when Lin Shu tearfully accused him.

Before he could figure it out, the slight trace that Lin Shu had left in his heart was quickly erased by the sobs of the girl in his arms.

"She's not my ex-girlfriend," Gu Chengyu denied categorically.

But seeing the pitiful look on the person in his arms, as if saying "I won't listen, I won't listen," he had no choice but to compromise, "Fine, just take it as you will."

His arms tightened around her slender waist, and his tone turned cold: "Did she bully you? Lin Shu?"

"I'll send someone to teach her a lesson, okay? I guarantee she'll avoid you from now on."

"No!" Su Qianqian suddenly raised her head, her red eyes glaring at him with a hint of stubbornness and willfulness. "You're not allowed to interfere!"

"Hmm?" Gu Chengyu was taken aback by her reaction, then chuckled.

He pinched her slightly red nose, which was red from crying. "Did you get jealous? I'll stand up for you, okay?"

"You're not allowed to interfere!" Su Qianqian repeated, her voice soft and tearful, sounding more like she was being coquettish.

"You're not allowed to go see her. You promised that we wouldn't tell anyone about our relationship... Don't let her find out."

As she spoke, she buried her face back in his neck, nuzzling against him like a little animal seeking comfort, "...You're not allowed to go see her..."

Gu Chengyu was both amused and exasperated by her logic, but feeling the dependent gestures and soft accusations of the person in his arms, his heart softened beyond measure.

He lowered his head, resting his chin on the top of her head, and sighed with a mixture of helplessness and affection.

"Okay, okay, I'll listen to you. My Qianqian." He pulled her closer, his large hand gently patting her slender back, like coaxing a tantrum-stricken baby.

"You're not going to see her. Then tell me, how did she bully you? Hmm? Tell me about it?"

Su Qianqian buried her face in the crook of his neck, feeling the comforting scent of ebony on his body. The grievances that had been bottled up for a whole week finally found an outlet.

She began her accusations in a muffled, halting manner… This chapter has been completed (please click to continue reading the next chapter!).
