Chapter 69 Selecting Socialites (2/2)

Which of these carefully cultivated socialites in the photos can possess that purity and vibrancy?

More importantly, no matter how gentle and graceful these women may appear on the surface, who knows what they are like at heart?

If he really marries her, will his simple-minded and unassuming Qianqian be secretly bullied by them?

Seeing her son remain silent, staring at the photograph with an inscrutable gaze, Madam Gu assumed he was weighing the pros and cons. She softened her tone and gently coaxed, "Chengyu, Mom knows you like freedom."

"But marriage is a responsibility, and the young mistress is the future face of the Gu family."

"Both of them, Mom thinks are good."

“There are other girls, each with their own unique characteristics. You can choose any of them, and Mom won’t interfere.”

"Mom hopes you can settle down this year."

"You know, your dad has always wanted you to officially take over the company, but Gu Jia has rules that you have to settle down and start a family before you can build a career."

"Once you get engaged, the vice president position will be yours."

"After you get married, you'll be the real person in charge, and your father will completely relinquish power."

"Don't you want to take over the Gu family business sooner?"

"Also, marriage is just a title; you can do whatever you want with it."

"If there's someone you really like, you can give them a child and bring them all back."

"The heirs of the Gu family have always been the most capable."

"But this young mistress can't be anything less than presentable, do you understand what I mean?"

After a few seconds of silence, Gu Chengyu raised his eyes and looked at his mother.

"I see."

He answered clearly, though his voice was not loud.

"Mom, you're right. The young mistress of the Gu family is indeed not to be taken lightly."

Madam Gu's eyes flashed with surprise; she hadn't expected her son to agree so readily this time.

Gu Chengyu's gaze fell back on the two photos, with a hint of criticism: "Chen Que's sister is a bit spoiled."

"Miss Song seems quite demure. I wonder what it's like to get along with her?"

He changed the subject and looked at Madam Gu: "Mom, since you're choosing a wife for me, shouldn't you take a closer look and make comparisons?"

"Aren't there a few outstanding individuals among the second-tier aristocratic families?"

"If you think it's okay, arrange it. I'll go see them when I have time."

He readily agreed, even offering to look at a few more, his cooperative attitude leaving Madam Gu somewhat unsure of his intentions.

Has he finally figured it out?

Or what's going on?

Gu Chengyu didn't give his mother much time to think it over. He stood up decisively and said, "It's settled then."

"Please notify my assistant when you have made the arrangements."

"I have something to do at the company, so I'll be leaving now."

"Remember to select a few more. I don't have many requirements, just that they should be kind-hearted, not the kind who are two-faced, and genuinely kind."

After saying that, he stopped looking at the photos on the coffee table, turned around, and strode away from the Gu family without looking back.

His back view still exuded an arrogant and overbearing air.

Mrs. Gu watched her son's disappearing figure, then looked down at the photo on the coffee table, and her brows relaxed.

It's good to have more options.

Whatever his motives, the engagement is a good thing. (This chapter has been read. Please click to continue reading the next chapter!)
