Garage at dusk.
Su Qianqian walked towards the Mercedes parked in its designated spot.
Assistant Xiao Chen was already standing respectfully by the car, waiting.
"Miss Qianqian." Xiao Chen opened the car door.
Just as Su Qianqian was about to bend down and sit down, her phone chimed softly.
It was a message from Qin Yuwei, along with an excited emoji.
Weiwei is not Weiwei: [Qianqianqianqian! Are you free tonight?]
【Starry-eyed emoji~~】
Weiwei is not Weiwei: [You know the Misty Bar, right? The super popular one!]
They have a niche band playing tonight.
Weiwei (not Weiwei): [This is a rare opportunity, please come with me, please~~]
[Frantically shaking emoji~~]
As Su Qianqian looked at the text and emoticons on the screen, she could almost hear Qin Yuwei's loud voice in her ear.
She's been really pushing herself too hard lately, with vocal, dance, and acting classes non-stop, and she even has to read scripts when she gets home at night.
A hint of hesitation surfaced in my mind.
Going out to relax with your girlfriends sounds like a good idea, doesn't it?
She paused on the screen for a moment, then finally replied.
Qianqian: [Okay, where should I wait for you?]
The message had barely been sent when Qin Yuwei called: "Ahhh, Qianqian, you're the best!"
"You're in the company parking garage right now, right? Wait for me for ten minutes! No, five minutes! I'm on my way!"
After hanging up the phone, Su Qianqian looked at her assistant, Xiao Chen, and said in a soft, apologetic voice, "Xiao Chen, could you please tell Young Master Gu that I'm going out to listen to a band with some friends tonight and will be home late? Tell him not to worry."
She didn't mention the name of the bar, only vaguely saying that she was listening to a band.
"My friend is coming to pick me up later, you should go home first."
"Yes, Miss Qianqian."
Xiao Chen immediately agreed, and he took out his phone to send a message to Gu Chengyu's special assistant, Zhao Cheng:
[Assistant Zhao, Miss Qianqian is going to see a band performance with her colleagues tonight and will be home a little late. Please pass this message on to Young Master Gu.]
At this moment, in the top-floor conference room of the Gu Group.
The air pressure was low at the huge circular conference table.
The projector's light shone on the screen, displaying a financial chart of a small project, where expenses and revenues were clearly disproportionate.
Gu Chengyu sat leaning back in the main seat, his black shirt sleeves rolled up to his elbows.
His face was expressionless, but when his phoenix eyes swept over the silent executives below, they carried an invisible pressure.
"Is this the result of your project?"
"Full of loopholes and completely lacking in foresight."
"Is the Gu family's money just for you to throw away?"
The project manager who was named was sweating profusely.
Zhao Cheng's phone was on silent. It lit up briefly, showing a message from Xiao Chen, before going dark again.
The conference room was so quiet you could hear a pin drop; only Gu Chengyu's cold, stern reprimands echoed through the room.
