Chapter 80 Throwing Himself into Her Arms (1/2)

The Shen family.

Madam Shen the Second was the glamorous Madam Shen in the eyes of the outside world.

She has an outstanding son, Shen Que.

She was sitting on the living room sofa, her well-maintained face showing anxiety.

She held her phone, the screen displaying her chat history with Mrs. Gu, in which Mrs. Gu politely accepted the cancellation of the blind date.

She didn't dare ask even a single question, for fear of leaving a bad impression on Madam Gu.

She took a deep breath, forced a slightly strained smile, and turned her phone screen toward her daughter, who was idly flipping through a fashion magazine next to her.

“An’an, look, Madam Gu said that Young Master Gu has something come up and your meeting has been temporarily canceled, with no new date set.”

Madam Shen's voice carried a mixture of helplessness and reassurance; she knew her daughter's temper.

An Nian casually raised her eyes.

When she saw the chat history on the screen, her beautiful face visibly darkened.

"Cancelled?"

Shen Nian'an squeezed out these three words through gritted teeth, slammed the magazine shut, and slammed it onto the coffee table with a thud.

She stood up abruptly, her meticulously styled brown curly hair swaying violently with the movement.

"What do you mean by 'temporarily cancelled'? 'Time to be determined'?"

"Mom! Didn't you say that Madam Gu personally guaranteed that Chengyu is serious this time?"

Her voice trembled slightly with disappointment and anger, and her chest heaved violently.

"An'an, don't get agitated..."

The second wife hurriedly tried to comfort her daughter and reached out to pull her back.

How could I not be excited!

Shen Nian'an slapped her mother's hand away.

She paced back and forth in the living room restlessly, like a cat whose tail had been stepped on.

The more she thought about it, the angrier she became. Suddenly, she grabbed a soft cushion and slammed it hard against the single sofa opposite her in a fit of rage.

The cushion bumped against the back of the sofa, bounced off weakly, and fell to the floor.

This feeble outburst clearly failed to quell the anger in her heart.

She then kicked the expensive low coffee table in front of her.

"Bang!" The coffee table was kicked and tilted, the exquisite tea set on it clattered and spilled tea.

The servants were so frightened they dared not breathe and all lowered their heads.

"Gu Chengyu! What makes him so special!"

Shen Nian'an's feet hurt a lot, her voice was trembling with tears, and her beautiful eyes were filled with resentment and grievance.

"How could he do this to me? He knew perfectly well..."

"Knowing full well how I feel..."

She recalled the year she turned eighteen when she first met Gu Chengyu at her brother Shen Que's birthday party.

The man, dressed in a simple white shirt with the cuffs casually rolled up, stood languidly by the champagne tower, yet he drew all eyes to the room.

He casually glanced at the crowd, and when his phoenix eyes swept over her, her heart skipped a beat.

At that moment, she knew it was all over.

She believed that what Ann wanted, she never failed to obtain.

She refused to believe she couldn't win over Gu Chengyu.

She remembered that later, she mustered up her courage and, taking advantage of the night when Gu Chengyu stayed at the Shen family's house, specially changed into that lace slip dress that best suited her figure.
