Chapter 9 First Meeting with the Assistant (1/2)

The door to the VIP lounge closed gently behind Gu Chengyu, and he strode away.

The corridor was not spacious, prop boxes were stacked against the wall, and staff members walked briskly.

His gaze swept casually across the area, but suddenly stopped when it passed a relatively quiet corner.

Against the wall sat a cheap folding stool, where a girl wearing a drab plaid shirt and faded jeans was sitting.

She lowered her head, her long, slightly wavy hair, like seaweed, was loosely tied behind her head, with a few stray strands falling down and obscuring half of her face.

A pair of bulky black-rimmed glasses perched on her nose, almost completely obscuring the upper half of her face.

The lower half of her face, which was exposed, had a sallow complexion, with only her lips being a delicate red.

He looked plain and unremarkable.

What caught Gu Chengyu's attention was her posture at that moment.

She was holding a thick script, reading it with extreme concentration.

Her small body leaned slightly forward, her slender fingertips turning a page.

It is a well-behaved appearance that is focused and stubborn.

The sunlight outlined the beautiful, graceful lines of her back, which seemed out of place with her rustic appearance.

Gu Chengyu stopped in his tracks.

This appearance...

For some reason, it reminded him of the flower shop girl he had glimpsed that day, her pure and innocent aura like that of a fairy who had strayed into the mortal world...

Although the girl in front of me was incredibly plain and had a dull complexion, a far cry from the stunning beauty I had seen that day…

He found it somewhat amusing that his intuition could sometimes be wrong.

Gu Chengyu changed direction and walked towards that small corner.

Su Qianqian was immersed in the world of the script.

This is a female protagonist who is initially innocent and kind, but later becomes resilient and unyielding despite experiencing many hardships.

That spirit of perseverance in the face of adversity is what she yearns for deep in her heart.

She was so engrossed in watching that she almost forgot about her surroundings.

A shadow suddenly fell, blocking the light in front of her.

She subconsciously looked up.

Behind the black-rimmed glasses, a pair of clear, watery almond-shaped eyes caught Gu Chengyu's eye.

Even though his eyes were blurred by the lenses, he still seemed slightly distracted.

For Su Qianqian, the real-life Chosen One was even more impactful than the characters in the videos.

He was so tall that when he stood against the light, his shadow resembled an insurmountable mountain.

That face, so handsome it was almost aggressive, was now looking down at her with a nonchalant smile.

Su Qianqian's heart skipped a beat, then raced wildly again.

Although she knew that by staying by Lin Shu's side, she would have more chances of running into him.

But today, his appearance before her was completely unexpected.

In particular, she is still hiding her true abilities.

Su Qianqian tightened her grip on the script slightly, suppressing her emotions. She simply kept her head tilted back, her eyes trying to remain calm, and her voice trembling with fear and confusion as she softly asked, "Young Master Gu, is there... something you need?"

The girl's voice was soft and gentle, so sweet it melted your heart.

Gu Chengyu sighed inwardly. None of the women around him who were acting coquettishly could match such a melodious and sweet voice.

It's just a pity...

His gaze swept over her face.

Tsk, she's definitely not pretty enough, far from the glamorous beauties he likes.

But those eyes... were surprisingly clean.
