Although it's not very clear when hidden behind the lens.
Gu Chengyu crossed his arms, leaned slightly forward, and closed the distance, making the powerful sense of oppression even stronger.
His tone was languid, with a hint of teasing a small animal, as his gaze fell on the script in her hand: "You're Lin Shu's assistant? This is her role in the script."
He glanced at her name tag again. "Su Qianqian?"
He murmured her name, drawing out the last syllable with an indescribable magnetism.
Gu Chengyu nodded his chin toward the script, his smile deepening. "So engrossed in reading? What, you want to be a big star too?"
His tone carried the natural arrogance and flippancy of someone in a superior position, as if to say: "You dare to challenge me?"
Su Qianqian's cheeks felt slightly warm under the thick face cream, not because she was shy, but because the direct teasing had stirred up a bit of her rebellious spirit.
She lowered her eyelashes, avoiding his gaze, and focused her attention on the female lead's name on the script.
She neither panicked and denied it, nor did she obsequiously agree.
She simply shook her head gently, her voice still soft and gentle, yet revealing a seriousness and calmness:
"No. I just think the character is very well written."
Her slender fingertips gently traced the script, her movements delicate. "She is strong and brave, the kind of person I admire. That's why I want to read more of her work."
Her answer surprised Gu Chengyu.
There was no flattery, no panicked explanations, and no sense of being offended.
It's just a simple statement, carrying a genuine longing for the fictional character.
Gu Chengyu stared at her small face, which was lowered and hidden by her glasses and stray hairs.
That stubbornness hidden beneath his docile demeanor is somewhat like the Ragdoll cat he had when he was a child.
"Yearning for it?"
He chuckled softly, a deep and pleasant laugh. "Your little assistant has quite the ambition. Alright, then keep dreaming about it."
He straightened up, and the oppressive pressure subsided slightly.
Gu Chengyu glanced at his somewhat rustic and odd assistant one last time, finding him utterly uninteresting.
But there also seemed to be a little bit of an indescribable emotion.
Oh well, he's not his type after all. A few teasing remarks are enough.
He stopped looking at her, turned around, and walked towards the exit of the film set.
Su Qianqian took a deep breath only after Gu Chengyu disappeared.
Behind the glasses, the fear and confusion in those clear almond-shaped eyes had faded.
She suppressed the ripples in her heart and frowned in thought: Gu Chengyu... just as the system data said, arrogant, haughty, and disregarding others.
When those eyes looked at her, it was as if they could see through her disguise, making her instinctively feel danger.
Moreover, he has very low boundaries with women.
How can I stand out and leave a lasting impression on him?
Then, she looked down at the script in her hand again, her fingertips tracing the name of the female lead.
Doesn't Su Qianqian deserve it?
Who is worthy of her? Lin Shu?
She recalled that yesterday afternoon, Lin Shu was scolded by the director for her stiff acting, and then she got angry at her in the dressing room, splashing hot coffee on her. Her shoulder was still red and throbbing.
She gripped the script tightly.
The road ahead is still long.
She wanted to take everything from Lin Shu, and she wanted him to willingly offer it all up to her. (This chapter has been read. Please click to continue reading the next chapter!)
