Chapter 16 Each Has Their Own Awkwardness

Chapter 16 Each Has Their Own Awkwardness

Qin Ce hadn't originally planned to stay in this house, but hearing Qiao Xing say that made him inexplicably unhappy.

It's as if he's some kind of monster.

Qin Ce's lips curled up slightly, revealing the first smile in so many days, but this smile made Qiao Xing's scalp tingle.

He placed the orange on the coffee table, leaned back on the sofa, and gazed at Qiao Xing indifferently.

"Don't forget, we're husband and wife now."

Qiao Xing's eyes widened, and for some reason, her heart skipped a beat. "This... I know."

"You know? And you still want me to stay at Grandpa's house?"

"So there aren't any extra rooms?" Qiao Xing's mind didn't quite process what she was saying, and she blurted it out without thinking. She immediately regretted it as soon as she said it.

Qin Ce laughed, but it was a laugh of anger.

He suddenly stood up and strode towards his room.

Qiao Xing realized something was wrong, so she quickly followed him inside and saw that he was already tidying up the things on the table.

"I'm sorry, I... I just had a brain fart. Please don't take it to heart. I just... I just don't know how to tell them about this..."

Qin Ce quickly packed his things, and before Qiao Xing could finish speaking, he picked them up and left the bedroom.

Qiao Xing followed behind him, secretly annoyed. She really wanted to slap herself for talking nonsense.

Before she could even think of how to explain, Qin Ce had already taken his pile of things to her bedroom.

Qiao Xing stood blankly at the door, all explanations forgotten in an instant.

Qin Ce put his computer away, turned to look at her, and asked, "What did you just say?"

Qiao Xing blinked, then mechanically shook her head. "No, it's nothing."

"May I stay in this room?"

"Yes, that's fine."

Qiao Xing realized something, and her cheeks flushed red.

From the moment she decided to get the marriage certificate, she was already prepared. It's just that Qin Ce doesn't live in the same room as her, and she's gotten used to it over the past few days, so she hasn't thought about it in that direction.

Her face grew increasingly hot, and she turned and ran to the next room, saying, "I'll help you with your luggage!"

Qiao Xing rushed into the next room and found Qin Ce's suitcase in the corner. The suitcase had hardly been opened, and there were no clothes of his in the closet.

I don't know if he was too lazy to clean up, or if he was treating this place like a hotel and only staying for a short period of time.

His suitcase and the house felt disconnected, suggesting he didn't belong there and might disappear at any moment.

Qiao Xing calmed herself down, took a deep breath, picked up her suitcase, and went back to the next room.

She stood in front of Qin Ce, head bowed, and asked, "Do you need me to hang up your clothes for you?"

Qin Ce leaned against the door frame, looking at her with a playful expression. "Okay."

Qiao Xing pulled his suitcase into the house, opened it, and found it to be a mess. Clothes were piled up haphazardly, along with toothpaste and a toothbrush. Water had spilled from the cup, and the clothes on it were wet in several places.

The old man packed this box, and Qin Ce hadn't opened it since he brought it over. He himself hadn't expected it to be so messy.

For a moment, both of them felt awkward.

Qiao Xing pretended to be busy helping him pack his suitcase, and she specially cleared out half of her wardrobe to hang his clothes.

Qin Ce stared at her for a long time before finally walking out. "I'm going out for a bit."

A moment later, the sound of the door closing outside could be heard.

Qiao Xing paused, then quickly ran to the door and saw that his coat on the sofa was gone, so it seemed he really had gone out.

She finally breathed a sigh of relief.

But when she turned around, she saw the document sheet on the table, and the title of the document underneath it—S&C First Quarter Comprehensive Planning Table.

Qiao Xing paused for a moment. She had never heard of S&C and didn't know which company it was.

She reached out to take the document, but stopped herself just before touching it and quickly pulled her hand back.

It's best not to touch other people's things without permission.

...

Qin Ce left and never returned that night, and he didn't show up for the next few days.

Qiao Xing was also a little uneasy, wondering if he had said something wrong that night or if he had confessed about the bride price. He didn't say anything on the surface, but he was actually very angry inside.

She didn't dare tell Grandpa Qin, but since he wasn't coming back for dinner, Grandpa Qin naturally knew that he hadn't been back for several days.

Grandpa Qin was so angry that he was about to call him, but Qiao Xing quickly stopped him, "Grandpa, he's probably busy, please don't call him."

Grandpa Qin snorted coldly, "How busy can he be? You've only been married for a few days, and he's already not coming home. What will happen later?"

Qiao Xing was a little anxious when she saw that he insisted on making the call. "Grandpa, he already told me that he would come back as soon as he was done. Please don't bother him."

Grandpa Qin was taken aback. "That's what he told you?"

Qiao Xing nodded hurriedly, "Yes, Grandpa, don't worry, we didn't have any conflict."

He was already angry about this, and if Grandpa Qin called again to force him to go home, he would definitely think that she had said something to Grandpa Qin, which would only make him more disgusted.

"Alright then, Grandpa will believe you for now, but Xingxing, if he bullies you, you must tell Grandpa, understand?"

Qiao Xing felt a warmth in her heart, and she nodded with a smile, "Okay, I will. With Grandpa around, he definitely won't dare to bully me."

Grandpa Qin then smiled kindly, "Alright, alright, then let's eat."

Qin Ce wasn't angry; he was just really too busy. He'd been at the company for the past few days and had been so busy he'd forgotten what day it was.

The assistant came over and handed a document to Qin Ce. "Mr. Qin, we've reached an agreement with Weisheng. Here's the contract. Please take a look."

Qin Ce nodded, took the document, and began to read it carefully.

"Mr. Qin, you haven't been home for several days, have you?"

"Hmm." Qin Ce responded without looking up, but then, as if remembering something, he glanced at his assistant and asked, "What day of the week is it today?"

"It's Saturday today."

"Really?" Qin Ce glanced at the date in the lower right corner of the computer screen; it was already Saturday.

The assistant glanced at him awkwardly. Rumors were circulating in the company that President Qin had gotten married, but seeing that he hadn't been home for several days, he didn't seem like a married person at all.

"No problem." Qin Ce closed the file and handed it to his assistant. "Then proceed according to the original plan."

"Okay, I'll send someone to follow up on the progress. You should go back and get some rest too; you haven't slept much these past few days."

Qin Ce nodded. He really should go back, otherwise the old man would complain about him again.

"Oh, right, there's one more thing. Mr. Liao asked me to inform you to attend the shareholders' meeting tomorrow. I've already sent you the time and location to your email."

Qin Ce picked up his coat. "Okay, you should go back and rest too."

He drove back to Qinghe Community, and as soon as he drove his car into the gate, he saw Lin Yu and Qiao Xing again.

Qin Ce frowned, and was about to drive over when Lin Yu threw a bank card at Qiao Xing's face.

Qin Ce could hear the sound of the card hitting her face even from inside the car.
