Chapter 346 What did you eat for dinner?
Qiao Xing stared at the flickering phone screen, feeling like it was a death knell. After hesitating for a long time, she didn't know whether to answer or not.
Bai Yi came out of the restroom. "Let's eat. What are you all doing?"
Qiao Xing snapped out of her daze, subconsciously turned off her phone and went over to sit down and eat.
Wang Ye glanced at her suspiciously. He had just seen clearly that Qin Ce had called Qiao Xing, but the girl hadn't answered.
Could it be that they had a fight?
Downstairs, Qin Ce sat in his car, looking up at the building in front of him, then glancing at the phone that had been automatically disconnected.
Qiao Xing ate his meal absentmindedly, which Bai Yi and Wang Ye noticed.
Wang Ye couldn't help but ask, "Cousin, did you and Qin Ce have a fight?"
Qiao Xing paused for a moment, then shook her head. "No, we didn't argue."
Bai Yi glared at him. "Hurry up and eat, and stop talking."
Wang Ye opened his mouth, but seeing how much these two wanted to talk to him, he could only awkwardly shut up.
After finishing his meal, Wang Ye packed his things and prepared to leave.
He then asked Qiao Xing, "Cousin, will you come with me?"
Qiao Xing hesitated for a moment, then looked back at Bai Yi.
"You're not going to stay here, are you?"
"What's wrong with living here? You don't want to live here, so why can't people live here?" Bai Yi glanced at him.
Wang Ye was speechless for a moment, then picked up his plastic bag and said, "Fine, I'm leaving."
Qiao Xing watched him leave, wanting to stand up and walk with him, but then sat back down.
After Wang Ye went downstairs, he met Qin Ce at the door.
He didn't recognize him at first, but Qin Ce had the window open, so Wang Ye walked over, turned back, bent down, and peeked inside.
"Qin Ce, is it really you? Why are you sitting here instead of going up?"
Qin Ce looked up at him and said, "No."
"How long have you been here? We were just eating upstairs, right when you called your cousin. You said you'd stay here and not go up, and your cousin wouldn't answer your calls. Did you two have a fight?"
"No, I've already eaten."
Qin Ce's perfunctory attitude made Wang Ye feel like he had made a fool of himself. "Alright then, I'll go first. You wait here."
"Wait a minute," Qin Ce suddenly called out to him.
Wang Ye stepped back again. "What?"
Where are you? I'll take you there.
Wang Ye gave him a strange look several times. Was this man out of his mind? Why would he offer to give her a ride?
But after thinking about it, Wang Ye still got in; why not take a free ride?
"Let's go, Guangmao Residential Area."
Qin Ce drove off, saying, "You need to give me directions; I don't know the way."
"Okay, drive out first, then turn left, go straight, and I'll tell you when you need to turn."
Qin Ce drove silently, and the car was quiet.
Did Wang Ye glance at him a couple of times?
Something just didn't feel right, so he tentatively asked, "Is there something you need to talk to me about?"
Looking at the road ahead, Qin Ce suddenly asked, "What did you eat for dinner?"
"What?"
Wang Ye recalled briefly, "Just ordinary home-style dishes: eggplant with minced meat, stir-fried pork with chili peppers, crucian carp soup, braised pork ribs, and spicy chicken. It's a pity you didn't come and didn't get to taste my cooking."
He rambled on and on, but Qin Ce remained silent.
After Wang Ye finished speaking, he asked him, "And then?"
Qin Ce's lips twitched. "And then... what did Qiao Xing say?"
"You didn't say anything. I was about to ask you the same thing, what's going on between you two?"
"It's okay, do you want to turn around?"
"Oh, no need here, turn right at the next traffic light."
Qin Ce drove past the intersection and turned right at the second traffic light.
Wang Ye tried to get some information out of Qin Ce, but no matter what he said, Qin Ce remained silent.
Wang Ye had a headache. "Is this how you usually act when you're with your cousin?"
Qin Ce remained silent.
Wang Ye gave up.
Thirty minutes later, he took Wang Ye to his destination.
Before Wang Ye got out of the car, Qin Ce finally spoke, "She really didn't say anything?"
Wang Ye was stunned for a moment, then said irritably, "She really didn't say anything. We're not even the same gender. What could she possibly say to me? If she had anything to say, it would be to Bai Yi."
In fact, Wang Ye had already guessed that the two had a falling out.
If they're having a disagreement, they'd definitely talk to their female friends, why would they come to him, a grown man, to complain?
Qin Ce thought about it and agreed.
"get off."
"Wow, you're such a mood freak." Wang Ye was speechless. He pushed open the car door and got out.
Before he could even speak, Qin Ce had already driven away, leaving Wang Ye standing alone, bewildered in the wind.
Qiao Xing didn't feel very comfortable staying at Bai Yi's house. When Bai Yi brought out a set of pajamas, Qiao Xing stood up and said, "Maybe I shouldn't stay here anymore."
Bai Yi was stunned and looked at her in confusion. "Why? Didn't we agree that you would sleep here for the night?"
He glanced at the time on the wall again. "Besides, it's already ten o'clock. It's not safe for you to go back. If you really don't want to stay here, call Qin Ce and ask her to come pick you up. Otherwise, I won't let you leave."
Qiao Xing hesitated for a moment, then obediently took the pajamas from Bai Yi's hands.
She didn't know how she could possibly ask Qin Ce to come and pick her up.
After Qin Ce made that call, he didn't call back. Clearly, he had guessed what was going on with him here.
Therefore, both of them should calm down.
"I can't take a shower yet, so..."
"Then don't wash up. Just change your clothes and go to sleep. There are two rooms over there, either one is fine."
Bai Yi was going to sleep with Lin Lin, so the other two rooms were empty.
Qiao Xing nodded, took her pajamas to the bathroom, grabbed a disposable towel, wiped her face, and took off the scarf around her neck, revealing the scar on her neck.
The image of Qin Ce rescuing her flashed through her mind again.
Now she is wavering between anger and hesitation.
She did have reason to be angry about this, but seeing the scar, she couldn't bring herself to be angry.
That's why she's so conflicted now, and why she doesn't know how to face him.
As Qiao Xing was holding the towel and lost in thought, the sound of a message notification on her phone startled her.
She took out her phone and glanced at it; it was still a WeChat message from Qin Ce.
Just a few simple words: I'm downstairs from you.
Qiao Xing was stunned.
I didn't want to go back, but I was afraid he would be waiting downstairs, so I typed a reply to him: I forgot to tell you, I'm staying at Team Leader Bai's house tonight, you can go back first.
Qin Ce quickly replied: I'll wait for you.
Qiao Xing frowned. Could it be that he couldn't read?
Qiao Xing typed again: I said I want to stay at Team Leader Bai's house.
Qin Ce: I know, I'll wait for you, and I'll take you to work tomorrow.
