Chapter 463 Worthless
Qin Liang talked to Qiao Xing for a long time and asked her some questions.
I have a basic understanding of Qiao Xing. She is not the kind of girl who is very scheming. Her words and actions are also acceptable. She is not the kind of timid girl who makes people angry.
If that were the case, wouldn't she be a laughingstock in front of outsiders, acting like she couldn't hold her own as the wife of the Qin family?
With further training, it wouldn't be so bad.
As the three were chatting, Wang Yu suddenly came out, smiling as she approached them. "Chatting?"
Qiao Xing quickly stood up to greet her, "Good morning, Auntie."
Wang Yu smiled gently, "No need to be so formal. We're all family, and there are no outsiders here, so please relax. Breakfast is ready, go eat first, and we can chat more afterward."
She waved to Qiao Xing, "Come on, Xingxing, let's go eat."
Qiao Xing forced a smile and walked towards her.
After they left, Qin Ce and Qin Liang remained sitting there, both staring at each other.
A few seconds later, Qin Liang also stood up, glancing sideways at Qin Ce, "Let's go. Are you still standing there waiting for me to invite you?"
As soon as Qiao Xing left, he adopted this attitude towards Qin Ce, so Qin Ce stopped pretending and got up to leave him behind.
Qin Liang laughed in exasperation, staring at his retreating figure and muttering under his breath, "You brat."
Qiao Xing went into the house looking for Grandpa Qin, but couldn't find him. She wondered if he hadn't gotten up yet.
Wang Yu told her, "Dad has difficulty moving around now, so I've already asked someone to bring breakfast to his room. You can go see him after you've eaten."
Qiao Xing looked away and nodded. "Okay."
I was a little suspicious. It had only been a short time since we separated, so how could Grandpa Qin have become so immobile? He used to go out for a walk every day.
There were five people at the table: Wang Yu, her son Qin Ji, and her daughter, who was in high school and lived at school, only coming home on Saturdays and Sundays. However, tomorrow was her father's birthday, and she should be back this afternoon.
No one spoke at the dinner table; the only sound was the clinking of bowls and chopsticks. Qin Yi seemed to be still half asleep, as he ate listlessly and was even less able to speak.
Although I know that one should not speak while eating or sleeping, the atmosphere was still very strange.
Qiao Xing had never eaten such a difficult meal before.
After finishing her meal, Qiao Xing couldn't wait to see Grandpa Qin. She secretly tugged at Qin Ce's sleeve under the table.
Qin Ce understood what she meant, put down his chopsticks, stood up and said, "We're finished eating, please continue your meal."
"Xingxing only ate so little, is it because breakfast wasn't to her liking?"
Qiao Xing shook her head. "No, it's delicious. I'm on a diet."
"You're not fat, why are you trying to lose weight? Don't starve yourself."
Qiao Xing smiled and said, "No, I'm already full."
"Alright then, go ahead." She knew Qiao Xing was going to see the old man.
Led by Qin Ce, Qiao Xing arrived at the old man's bedroom. The door was open, and Qiao Xing saw the old man before even entering.
He was already in a wheelchair, eating at a table by the window. The servant served him food, but he complained that this was not tasty, that was too bland, and this had no flavor at all.
His meals were all prepared separately because he was sick and had to avoid certain foods. The servants had no choice but to smile and apologize.
Qiao Xing strode over and called out, "Grandpa."
The old man paused, turned his head to look, and a hint of joy flashed in his eyes. "Xingxing, when did you arrive?"
Qiao Xing walked to his side and said with a smile, "I came last night, but you were asleep then, so I didn't want to disturb you."
The old man stopped eating. He put down his chopsticks and looked at Qiao Xing kindly, "Good, good, good. Grandpa thought he would never see you again."
Qiao Xing's smile froze for a moment. She squatted down in front of the old man, grabbed his arm, and said, "How could I not see you? I've come to see you, haven't I? I've been waiting for you to return to Yucheng."
The old man chuckled and said, "We can't go back."
Although he smiled kindly, he couldn't hide the sadness in his eyes.
"I can go back. I'll go back as soon as I'm feeling better. Life without you is so much less fun."
The old man just smiled, then sighed. He pulled Qiao Xing up and said, "Then you'll have to wait a while. Grandpa's illness isn't so easy to cure."
"Things will get better, there's still a long time to go, I'm waiting for you."
The old man nodded. "Why did you come all of a sudden?"
"It's your birthday, so of course I have to come."
The old man was unhappy again. "I'm already like this, why would I celebrate my birthday? What's the point? It'll just be a laughing stock."
"How could it be considered a joke? Everyone gets sick sometimes, and no one would dare to laugh at you."
"It hasn't been that long since we last met, and your words have become even sweeter."
Qiao Xing joked, "Because I have to stick close to your coattails. You've kept this from me for so long. If I had known you were this capable, I would have worked harder."
"Hahaha, it's Grandpa's fault. I shouldn't have kept it from you. Tell me, what do you want? Grandpa will make it up to you."
Qiao Xing grinned and looked back at Qin Ce, "Didn't you already make it up to me?"
The old man was slightly taken aback, and his eyes followed Qiao Xing's gaze. He instantly understood what she meant. "What kind of compensation is this? Even if it is, we should find you someone better."
Qin Ce: "?"
Qiao Xing knew he was joking and said, "Grandpa, don't say that in front of him."
Qin Ce twitched the corner of his mouth and suddenly sat down on the sofa next to him. "It's okay, you guys tell me, I want to hear how good he wants to find you."
The old man clicked his tongue, looking disgusted. "Look at how worthless he is, and he's even jealous."
"He's not that petty."
"Oh, I'm not that stingy. You're practically drooping your face."
Qiao Xing couldn't help but laugh. The old man looked much thinner. Even though he still spoke with the same energy as before, he couldn't hide the fatigue in his eyes.
After all, they were elders he had watched grow up, so Qiao Xing couldn't help but feel sad, but he dared not show it.
Because the door was open, the sounds of laughter and chatter could be heard from inside the house, even from the stairwell.
Wang Yu glanced in that direction, then went to find Qin Liang. She said to Qin Liang, "This is the first time I've heard Dad laugh so happily since he came back. It seems he really likes stars."
These words reminded Qin Liang of the old man's long face towards him lately, as if he owed him money, and he was not happy about it.
"So, did I upset him?"
"That's not what I meant. After all, a father should be more serious with his son, and he can't be as joking around with a girl."
The old man wasn't all smiles to all girls; he wasn't like that with his youngest daughter, and his attitude was almost perfunctory.
Qin Fei is rather spoiled, and she can easily upset the old man with her words. The old man always says that she is impolite.
But the old man was more tolerant of other younger people, such as Qiao Xing, and even treated Shi Yi better than Qin Fei.
Qin Liang remained silent with a sullen face, because he had also thought about the old man's attitude towards Qin Fei, and couldn't help feeling somewhat uncomfortable.
