Chapter 469 An Encounter
Now that Qiao Xing sees Qin Ce, he also thinks that what he said makes a lot of sense.
Truly good men don't end up in the market.
Anyway, Qiao Xing remembered what he said before: he had seen so many beautiful women, so at least in this respect, he was unlikely to be tempted by beauty, which reduced Qiao Xing's crisis by more than half.
On the contrary, someone like Lin Yu, who has no real skills and can only maintain a relationship by cheap flattery, will definitely not be content with his lot once he has money.
Qiao Xing was lost in thought when she suddenly heard someone greet Qin Ce.
She subconsciously looked up and saw that it was Tang Xi.
Not only was Qiao Xing surprised, but Qin Ce was also a little surprised. If there hadn't been no conflict of interest between the two sides, he would have suspected that Tang Xi was deliberately following them.
Qin Ce asked, "How did you end up here?"
Tang Xi said with a laugh, "Of course it's because I live here. But what are you doing in a place like this?"
Qiao Xing looked completely taken aback. "Mr. Tang is actually here?"
Is that strange?
She suddenly remembered Tang Xi's identity, and it didn't seem so strange anymore. "No, no."
"So you've come here?" He shared the same question as Qin Ce, and even suspected that they were looking for him.
Qin Ce explained, "I originally wanted to take her to a scenic spot, but the traffic was too bad, so we came here since we were in the vicinity."
"I see. Since you're already here, why don't you come to my house for a while?"
"Wouldn't that be too intrusive?"
"There's no need to bother us, let's go." Tang Xi didn't stand on ceremony with them and turned to lead the way.
Qin Ce still asked Qiao Xing's opinion, "Shall we go?"
"Go ahead, there's probably still traffic, and we don't seem to have anything else to do." She preferred dealing with Tang Xi rather than going back to deal with Wang Yu and the others.
Qin Ce nodded slightly, took her hand, and followed Tang Xi.
Tang Xi lives nearby. The buildings here are all old residential areas and don't have elevators; they are mostly six stories high.
Tang Xi's house was on the second floor. His home was simply furnished, and there were not many luxurious items.
Unlike the Qin family, where even a single potted plant costs tens of thousands of yuan.
He has planted quite a few flowers and plants, as well as scallions and garlic, on his balcony.
How should I put it? Compared to Tang Xi, whom I met at that restaurant yesterday, and now, and his home, there's a strange sense of disconnect.
The restaurant Qin Ce took her to wasn't exactly high-end, but since they had a type of seafood like braised pork belly, it must have been quite expensive.
Tang Xi saw her staring at the flowers and plants on the balcony and said, "Those were planted by my grandma. She likes to plant things on the balcony whenever she has free time. Please make yourselves at home."
He poured them both a glass of water and then sat down on the sofa.
Tang Xi said, "Brother Qin, it seems we are very destined to meet, as we have bumped into each other in unexpected places for two consecutive days."
Qin Ce nodded. "Indeed, are you the only one at home?"
“My grandma went out. Old people can’t stay idle at home. I’m the only one at home right now. I was just about to go look for her.”
"Then aren't we taking up your time?"
Tang Xi waved his hand, "It's okay, I didn't really want to go anyway. She asked me to go just to introduce me to someone, nothing else."
Qiao Xing also found it a bit funny; it seemed that these elders were very concerned about their children's marriages, which reminded her of Grandpa Qin.
Perhaps because Tang Xi was so easygoing, Qiao Xing couldn't help but gossip, "So, didn't you have anyone you liked?"
Tang Xi smiled and said, "I can only say it's not suitable. I think these things depend on fate and can't be rushed."
"That's true. What if you find someone you like this time? If we take up your time, wouldn't you be missing out on your true love?"
"If we were truly destined to be together, we wouldn't have met you. So, if we're not meant to be, then let's not go."
As Tang Xi spoke, his gaze swept over Qiao Xing, "I heard from Qin Yi that you two met through a blind date, right?"
Qiao Xing paused for a moment, then nodded sheepishly, "Yes, yes."
"This is fate. Fate requires the right time, place, and people; none of these can be missing."
Qiao Xing thought it sounded a bit mystical, and she smiled, "I didn't expect Mr. Tang to believe in these things so much."
"The end of the universe is metaphysics. I once heard a saying that everything in a person's life, from birth to death, is predetermined."
"Really?"
Tang Xi smiled mysteriously and did not answer her directly, saying, "If you believe, it exists; if you don't believe, it doesn't."
Qiao Xing sighed inwardly. Sure enough, these people still liked to beat around the bush when they spoke.
Tang Xi changed the subject, "Alright, let's not talk about this anymore. How long does Brother Qin plan to stay in the capital?"
"They probably won't be able to stay for long."
"Then remember to tell me when you leave. We've known each other for a while, so I have to see you off."
"Okay, we'll talk about it later."
As they were talking, someone suddenly opened the door outside, and Qiao Xing subconsciously looked over.
The door opened from the outside, and before anyone could be seen, an old man's voice could be heard, "Youyou, come in quickly, my eldest grandson is home, I guarantee you'll be satisfied with what you see."
As soon as he finished speaking, a sprightly old lady walked in, waving to the outside.
Qiao Xing subconsciously looked at Tang Xi and, sure enough, saw a bitter smile on his face.
When the old lady came in and saw that someone was home, she exclaimed in surprise.
"A guest has arrived?"
Tang Xi stood up and walked towards the old lady. "Grandma, these two are my friends."
The old lady smiled and nodded, "Alright, Grandma also brought back a guest. Her name is Youyou. Please help Grandma entertain her well. I'll go cut some fruit for you."
As she spoke, she pulled the person closer, saying, "You young people chat."
Before Tang Xi could speak, the old lady tossed him to her and turned to walk into the kitchen.
This girl named Youyou isn't strikingly beautiful, but she has a delicate and sweet appearance, with a very well-behaved feel. Her features are pleasing to the eye, and once you get to know her better, you'll find that she's the kind of girl whose beauty grows on you; the more you look at her, the more beautiful she becomes.
However, the first thing she saw when she entered was Qin Ce.
Qin Ce's appearance was indeed outstanding; he would always catch people's attention at first glance. It wasn't until Tang Xi spoke that she turned her gaze to him.
Clearly, they had mistaken Qin Ce for the grandson the old lady was talking about.
"Hello, my name is Wen You, Wen as in 'heard'."
Out of politeness, Tang Xi shook her hand. "My name is Tang Xi, the 'Xi' from Liu Yuxi."
Wen You was stunned for several seconds, unable to recall who this person was, only feeling that the name sounded somewhat familiar, but she still smiled and said, "Oh, I know, I like his poems."
But it was only those two seconds of her stunned silence that changed the tone of the smile in Tang Xi's eyes, though he still maintained a smile on his lips.
"What a coincidence! I also like his poems, especially the line from his poem 'Farewell at Nanpu': 'Do you know that I brought it back from ten thousand miles away? The red banana and hibiscus will not come.' What about you?"
Wen You's smile became a little stiff. "I've seen this poem before, but I'd forgotten it. Now that you've mentioned it, I remember it again."
Tang Xi smiled and said nothing more, gesturing for him to sit down.
Qin Ce coughed lightly and stood up. "Since Brother Tang has guests to entertain, we'll be leaving now."
