Chapter 485 It's not like I can't afford to support you.

Chapter 485 It's not like I can't afford to support you.

Qin Yi stood there, filled with resentment, watching them leave until their car disappeared from sight. Only then did he sigh and return to the villa, feeling utterly dejected.

Upstairs, Qin Liang stood by the window, watching the two black cars drive away, his expression complex, lost in thought.

Qiao Xing gazed at the receding scenery outside the window, a touch of melancholy settling in her heart. She'd only been here three or four days, yet it felt like so much had happened. But then again, it was as if nothing had occurred at all. It wasn't the perilous, dangerous place she'd imagined, nor was it as peaceful as she'd expected.

There seems to be some undercurrent, which you may not have noticed.

Traveling by car was really inconvenient for her. She was already prone to motion sickness, and now that she was pregnant, it was even worse. Not long after the car started moving, she felt her stomach churning and she felt like vomiting.

Qin Ce noticed her presence, reached out and took her hand, and asked in a low voice, "Are you feeling unwell?"

Qiao Xing shook her head. "I'm fine."

Although she said she was fine, Qin Ce still told Xin Jiu to drive slowly. Anyway, they weren't in a hurry and had plenty of time. It wouldn't matter if they arrived in Chongqing a little later.

The old man was quite happy. He looked outside with a cheerful expression and seemed to be in good spirits.

He exclaimed, "I never thought I'd be able to return to Chongqing one day."

He hadn't really thought about going back before, but after the conversation started yesterday, he suddenly really wanted to go back.

He felt depressed and unhappy every day here. Although there was no one to serve him in Chongqing, at least he was free and didn't have to see those hypocritical faces.

Perhaps it's not that he doesn't want to see those hypocritical people, he just doesn't want to see his own family members being hypocritical in front of him.

Qiao Xing asked, "Grandpa, will you live with us when we go back?"

"That won't do. I'd be disturbing you two."

"How could it be a disturbance? We are very happy to live with you. Besides, when you went back to the capital last time, you moved all your things out of the house. How would you live if you went back by yourself?"

The old man suddenly realized this too, and belatedly said, "That's right, oh dear, I didn't plan to come back at the time, so I emptied the house, sigh!"

Qiao Xing pursed her lips. It turned out he hadn't planned to come back. He had even lied to her and said he would be back soon.

Qiao Xing said, "Then come to our place. That way, it will be easier for us to take care of you."

The old man was still very stubborn, insisting that he didn't need anyone to take care of him.

Qiao Xing was both amused and exasperated, and could only nod in agreement.

The car was moving slowly, but as time went on, Qiao Xing felt increasingly uncomfortable.

After driving for about four and a half hours, they arrived at a service area and rested for two hours.

Also for the sake of the old man's health, we stopped to rest at almost every service area we passed.

We'll get off the highway early in the evening and find a hotel to stay in for the night.

It should normally take two days to get there, but it took them almost a week to get back to Chongqing.

The journey went smoothly without any unexpected situations.

Upon opening the door, Xin Jiu busied herself carrying her luggage inside, and the doctor followed.

The doctor was still debating whether to go back; it seemed inconvenient for him to stay here.

However, he has been treating the old man and knows his condition best. Moreover, given his current health condition, the old man does need someone to watch over him at all times.

So Qin Ce decided to move to a different house.

Hearing his suggestion, Qiao Xing was taken aback. "Change houses?"

Qin Ce nodded. "This house is too small and inconvenient. Let's find a bigger one. Do you have any favorite houses or locations?"

Qiao Xing was surprised again. This house was small?

However, considering his house in Beijing, and comparing it to this one, it does seem a bit small for him.

"I think this place is fine, there's no particular location I like."

Actually, the old man has two other properties in Chongqing, one of which is a villa. However, it's too far away. It's suitable for the old man to live in, but it's not very convenient for him and Qiao Xing.

Qin Ce pondered for a moment, then suddenly picked up his phone and called Yang Han, asking him if there were any larger houses available in this area.

Yang Han immediately became interested upon hearing this, "You're back?"

"Um."

"That's great! I'll come find you later. Getting a house is easy, isn't it? There are plenty of houses available. You can have any kind you want. I'll personally take you to see them. They're everywhere."

Yang Han happily hung up the phone and immediately headed to Tianxiang Water Garden. They hadn't seen each other for a long time since they parted ways in Haishi.

When Qiao Xing learned that Yang Han was coming, she immediately went out to buy groceries, but Qin Ce stopped her.

“You should rest now and stop doing this kind of thing.” He said, then remembered something and added, “Also, it’s best if you don’t go to work.”

Qiao Xing could accept the first sentence, but she was unhappy with the second. "Why?"

Qin Ce's gaze swept over her lower abdomen. "What do you think?"

Qiao Xing was getting anxious. She grabbed Qin Ce's arm and whispered, "It's okay. Several of our company's pregnant employees are still working. They only took leave when they were about to give birth."

"They are them, and you are you. It's not like I can't support you, so why do you have to go to work?"

His attitude was firm, and his tone left no room for refusal. Qiao Xing rarely saw him like this, which made her feel a little flustered.

Qiao Xing suddenly didn't know how to refute, so she lowered her head and remained silent.

Seeing her disappointment, Qin Ce's tone softened slightly, "Even if you want to go to work and prove yourself, you can wait until the baby is born. If you feel bored, Grandpa is here too. With someone to keep you company, how can you be bored?"

What he said was reasonable and irrefutable, and there was no reason to refuse. If Qiao Xing insisted, it would make her seem ungrateful.

Qin Ce touched her cheek. "How about you go back to work in a year?"

Qiao Xing bit her lip. Although she didn't like the feeling of being forced into this arrangement, she understood that Qin Ce cared about her, so she could only nod.

"Alright, you must be tired from the long journey these past few days. Take a good rest first, I'll go cook."

"Um."

Qin Ce hesitated for a moment, looked at her, stood up, and walked out of the bedroom.

He went out to buy groceries with Xin Jiu. Qiao Xing leaned against the headboard, took out her phone, and opened the WeChat group.

They didn't talk much inside, and there was no news.

This decision came as a surprise. How should she tell them?

She's only been with the company for a short time, and now she's going to be away from work for another year. Will there still be a place for her then?

As Qiao Xing was lost in thought, Tao Yang suddenly sent her a message, "You're back?"

Qiao Xing paused for a moment, then replied: How did you know?

Tao Yang: I saw your WeChat Moments. You've arrived by now, right?

Qiao Xing then remembered that she had posted a message on her WeChat Moments when she arrived in Chongqing.
