Chapter 49 Taking out a mortgage
Qiao Xing was slightly taken aback. Whenever her aunt needed to talk to her, she would use the guise of family ties to talk about kinship.
However, when her interests are threatened, she turns her back on everyone. This is not the first time Qiao Xing has experienced her fickleness.
Actually, I felt more heartbroken than anything else. My aunt treated Lily completely differently than she treated her.
Qiao Xing suppressed her emotions and forced a smile: "Qin Ce really doesn't have money. If we had money, we would have bought a house in the city long ago. Why would we be crammed into this place?"
My aunt said dismissively, "What's wrong with this place? It's great! The transportation is convenient, everything is available around here, and prices are much cheaper than in the city. What's wrong with this place?"
Qiao Xing twitched the corner of his mouth, really wanting to say, "If it's so good, why are you still selling houses?"
However, out of consideration for her uncle and cousin, she didn't say those words.
Just then, Qin Ce returned.
He pushed open the door and found that the whole family was looking at him, their eyes filled with joy as if they had seen a lifeline.
Qin Ce closed the door, changed his shoes, and walked over, but his aunt called him back in time.
"Xiao Ce."
Qin Ce paused, "What's wrong?"
My aunt said, "I want to talk to you about something."
"Speak."
My aunt said with a smile, "Sit down, sit down and talk."
Qin Ce first glanced at Qiao Xing, whose expression seemed somewhat troubled, as if she didn't really want him to sit down.
Qin Ce already had some guesses in his mind. He walked over and sat down next to Qiao Xing, saying, "Auntie, please speak your mind."
Aunt laughed and said, "Right? I told you we're all family, no need to beat around the bush."
"Well, we went to look at houses today, but we didn't have enough money for the ones we liked, so... I was thinking of borrowing some money from you."
"You and Xiaoye are childhood friends, you used to be neighbors, and now you're practically family. You should help out with this, right?"
My aunt was still a little embarrassed as she spoke, but only a little. People who borrow money need to be thick-skinned; otherwise, she wouldn't have said those words.
Qin Ce pondered for a moment and asked, "How much?"
Hearing this, Qiao Xing was surprised and frowned as she glanced at Qin Ce.
Although I know he cares about his image, there's no need for him to put on a show of wealth when he's not.
Aunt was also quite pleased. She hadn't expected Qin Ce to be so easy to talk to. She should have just gone to Qin Ce instead of going to Qiao Xing.
“It’s not much. We’re short 400,000 for the down payment. If you don’t have that much, you can lend us 200,000.”
"Four hundred thousand?" Qin Ce said calmly, without any expression, "If you're so short of money, why do you still want to buy such a nice house?"
This question stunned her aunt. She said awkwardly, "Well, we were originally planning to buy that two-million-dollar secondhand house. The down payment would have been just right, but Lily disagreed."
"You know Lily is a college student and her family is better off than ours. We can't let her suffer after she marries into our family, right?"
Qin Ce listened quietly, leaning back slightly with a faint smile playing on his lips, though the smile carried a hint of mockery.
"That is indeed the case, but unfortunately there is nothing I can do about it," Qin Ce said calmly.
Auntie was stunned for a moment, her mood plummeting from heaven to hell. "You're joking again. If you don't have money, how did you get that car?"
Qin Ce looked at her, and although he didn't have any extra expression, he still gave off an inexplicable sense of oppression.
He said, "My car is still impounded, and I have to pay seven or eight thousand yuan in car loan every month. Last time I compensated someone more than ten thousand yuan. Since you said we are family, I didn't ask you for this money. I think I have already done my duty as a family."
Hearing this, Qiao Xing breathed a sigh of relief. She was really afraid that Qin Ce would agree to lend money to his aunt because he was too proud.
Qin Ce paused here, then continued, "So why do you still think that I have money but won't lend it to you?"
These words left his aunt speechless. What he said was also true. They had already taken such a big advantage from Qin Ce, and now they actually thought that Qin Ce didn't want to lend them the money.
The uncle sighed and said, "I told you not to look for them anymore."
Aunt was displeased. She glared at Wang Yue and said, "You're always just talking after the event. You didn't say anything when I was talking, but now you're playing the good guy after I've finished!"
"What do you mean by 'hindsight is 20/20'? I already told you when I came back, but you didn't listen, and now you're blaming me?"
Seeing that the two were about to start arguing again, Wang Ye said, "Hey, you two stop arguing. I'll go talk to Lily again. If she insists on buying that expensive one, then we're not getting married!"
Wang Ye is also very frustrated. He doesn't blame Lili; he just hates himself for being so useless. He's getting married now, but he can't even afford a house.
And it makes the whole family argue and quarrel here.
"How can that be? You and Lily have been dating for almost a year. Are you just going to say you won't get married? If you don't marry her, where are you going to find a girl as outstanding as her?"
My aunt valued Lily because of her college degree. None of her family members had gone to college, but Lily was a college graduate, so she could tutor her children after they had children.
Otherwise, given Lily's habit of going out clubbing every night, she would have already made a scene, and she would never have agreed to this marriage.
But just because she is a college student, Lily's behavior is normal to her and belongs to the entertainment of young people.
Wang Ye said irritably, "The house she's interested in requires a down payment of over 1.2 million, and we're still short 600,000. Where are we going to find that?"
"Let's take out a loan," my aunt said through gritted teeth.
"The house is still in our possession, isn't it? We should be able to get a loan for it."
Upon hearing this, Qiao Xing felt a lump in her throat, and she forced back her anger, saying, "Aunt, wasn't the house already sold to me?"
Her aunt gave her a reproachful look, "What's yours is ours, really. It's just that we're using it for a loan, not selling it. The house is still yours."
"Your cousin loves you so much and takes such good care of you, isn't it only right that you help him out?"
"I..." Qiao Xing felt like she had swallowed a fly, unable to swallow it down or spit it out.
Wang Ye was indeed good to her, but her aunt's taken-for-granted attitude made her a little angry.
"Stop with the 'you' and 'me' talk. Once the loan is approved, we'll pay it off ourselves. You can rest assured about that. This house definitely won't disappear."
Qiao Xing didn't want to talk to her anymore. She stood up and said, "Let me think about it."
After saying that, she walked out without looking back.
"What's there for this child to think about? We've let you live here for so many years for nothing!" his aunt said from behind. Although her voice wasn't loud, Qiao Xing still heard it.
She clenched her fingers and quickened her pace to leave.
She came to the outside of the residential area, and her nose started to sting. She took a deep breath to suppress the urge to cry.
"Don't you want to mortgage it?" Qin Ce had followed her out at some point, and his voice rang out behind her.
