Chapter 536 The First Step Was Wrong

Chapter 536 The First Step Was Wrong

Wang Qin held onto the two people with all her might, buying Lin Xi time to escape.

The two young men got angry, bent down, grabbed Wang Qin, dragged her away, and threw her aside. They ignored Lin Xi, squatted down in front of Wang Qin, and waved the dagger in front of her.

"Tell me, how much money do you have?"

Wang Qin shrank her neck and said tremblingly, "I... I only have this much money in my WeChat account, I really don't have any money."

"No way! You're so old and you only have so little money?"

Wang Qin looked at the two men with tears streaming down her face, and choked out, "I really have no money. If you don't believe me, then kill me."

Since Lin Xi has already escaped, it doesn't matter if these two kill her.

The two men exchanged a glance, clicked their tongues, and said jokingly, "Killing you for two thousand dollars is not worth it."

Wang Qin thought they were going to let her go, and she was secretly pleased. But the next second, the boy said, "I think your organs are worth some money. Why don't we use your parts to exchange for money?"

Wang Qin was stunned again.

Her stunned expression made the two of them burst into laughter.

Just then, Lin Xi, who had already run away, returned, bringing someone with her.

"What are you doing!" With this angry shout, the smiles on the two young men's lips froze, and they looked up in that direction.

Unfortunately, it was too dark in the alley, and I couldn't see anything clearly.

"I've already called the police. If you don't want to get arrested, you'd better leave now!"

The two exchanged a glance, then picked up what was on the ground, turned and ran, disappearing into the alley in the blink of an eye.

Having narrowly escaped death, Wang Qin collapsed to the ground, leaning against the wall and panting heavily.

Lin Xi walked up to her, squatted down, took her hand, and called out, "Mom."

Wang Qin looked at her daughter and forced a smile. "It's okay, Mom is okay, don't be afraid."

Lin Xi stared straight at her.

"Get up first." The man next to her spoke up, and Wang Qin turned her head to look when she heard the voice.

The electric scooter's lights were still on. Looking up, she saw Qiao Hong's concerned face. Wang Qin leaned against the wall to stand up, looking at him in surprise, "Why is it you?"

Qiao Hong smiled sheepishly, "I originally wanted to look for you, but when I saw this little girl running out in a panic, I thought someone's child had gotten lost."

He told Wang Qin that he originally wanted to take the little girl to the police station, but Lin Xi pulled him and ran inside, and that's when he found out what had happened.

Wang Qin looked at him with some skepticism for a moment, then looked down at Lin Xi to confirm whether what Qiao Hong said was true.

Lin Xi nodded repeatedly, indicating that it was all true.

She ran outside and saw a car by the roadside. She ran over, knocked on the door, and called Qiao Hong over.

Although Wang Qin and Qiao Hong hadn't seen each other for many years, based on her previous impression of him, she didn't think he was such a kind person or such a bold person.

Seeing the confusion in her eyes, Qiao Hong sighed, "I know I was young and impetuous before, and I did a lot of bad things. But so many years have passed, and people change. Anyway, please don't be so cold to me, considering I saved you tonight."

Wang Qin said, "Qiao Hong, thank you for saving me, but I feel that you haven't changed at all."

How could that be?

"I find you even more disgusting than before. At your age, you're still having an affair with someone your daughter is the same age. Aren't you afraid that your daughter will also find a man like you?"

Qiao Hong's expression changed, filled with anger but even more shock. "How did you know?"

Wang Qin was also stunned for a moment, and then blurted it out unintentionally.

She explained, "I work near where you booked the hotel, and I saw it when I got off work in the evening."

Qiao Hong felt a headache coming on. She had actually seen it. Now, no matter how much he tried to make amends, he couldn't explain himself.

But he still tried to explain, "You've misunderstood, haven't you? You saw us at the hotel, so you assume I'm cheating, but you have no proof?"

Wang Qin gave her a look that said, "Keep making this up."

“She’s a client of our company. It’s normal for me to receive her and arrange a hotel for her, isn’t it? You know she’s young. Do you think a young man would be interested in me?”

If Wang Qin hadn't overheard Qiao Xing and Cao Yun's conversation, she might have actually believed him by now.

But even his own wife came to see Qiao Xing, and she didn't believe what Qiao Hong said was true.

"Whatever, whether you're my client or not is none of my business. You don't need to explain these things to me."

She held onto the electric scooter and called Lin Xi to get on, saying, "I'm leaving now."

Qiao Hong was furious. He ran ahead and blocked her electric scooter, saying angrily, "Wang Qin, I just saved you, and this is how you treat your savior?"

"So what do you want? Or do you want to kill me?"

Qiao Hong was also taken aback, seemingly not expecting Wang Qin to be so ruthless.

"Alright, alright, it was my fault for meddling. I knew I shouldn't have come!"

Wang Qin was stunned. If she had known that it was Qiao Hong who saved her, she would have preferred to be killed by those two people.

She paused for a moment before saying, "So what do you want?"

"I don't want anything, just don't be so cold to me. We're divorced, but can't we be friends?"

Wang Qin was speechless, completely at a loss for words, and didn't know how to communicate with him.

Qiao Hong said, "Besides, when you got divorced, did you two ever do anything wrong?"

“I was wrong. I shouldn’t have married you in the first place. Marrying you was my biggest mistake. If I hadn’t married you, I wouldn’t be like this now.”

When she was young, she was beautiful and had countless suitors, including many wealthy men, but she was blind to fall for this man.

Qiao Hong wasn't bad-looking back then. What did she want from him? He was good-looking, knew how to sweet-talk, and was romantic.

Now that she's lived half her life, Wang Qin realizes just how big a mistake she made back then.

A person's external conditions are really not important; good character is the foundation for a lasting marriage.

This was the answer she had spent half her life figuring out, but time would not allow her to go back and make the same choice again.

Her entire life began with a mistake from the very first step she took, which led to every subsequent step being wrong, resulting in her current impoverished existence.

"Look at you, saying this again. You're already in your fifties or sixties, and you've been saying this since you were young. Aren't you tired of it?"

Wang Qin was silent for a while, then stared intently at Qiao Hong. "I really thank you for tonight, but Qiao Hong, let me tell you, this is the only time I'll remind you that those who do many evil deeds will surely perish."

Qiao Hong laughed, "You've even managed to make yourself sound quite cultured."

Wang Qin ignored his words, "Don't be happy now. One day, everything you're doing now will come back to haunt you, and even your and Cao Yun's children."
