Chapter 817 I Want to Talk to You

Chapter 817 I Want to Talk to You

Because Linlin needed to go to bed early, Baiyi took him back first.

Wang Ye waited until he saw off the last table of customers and finished up the last things in the shop before he was ready to close up and go to sleep.

As he walked to the door and prepared to lock it, he vaguely sensed that something was amiss.

He walked out of the store and looked around. It was late, and there were hardly any pedestrians left. There were only a few scattered cars on the road.

Wang Ye couldn't quite put his finger on what was wrong, but it felt like someone was hiding somewhere he couldn't see, secretly watching him.

Wang Ye told himself that he was probably just too tired these past two days, so his nerves were acting a little off. He didn't think much of it, locked the door, and went back to sleep.

Bai Yi had just returned home when she received a call from Wang Ye.

Have you arrived yet?

Bai Yi was changing Linlin's pajamas. "We're here."

Wang Ye said, "Okay, it's good that we've arrived. You should get some rest."

Bai Yi hummed in agreement and said, "You too."

Just as I was about to hang up, I heard Wang Ye ask again, "So, are you... coming to the store tomorrow?"

Bai Yi seemed confused as to why Wang Ye asked that question. She was puzzled for a moment, then said, "Of course I would. Don't you want me to come?"

"No, I meant to..."

Wang Ye had been holding back all night, and now he really wanted to say it.

However, he felt it was too hasty to say it over the phone, and he didn't know exactly what Bai Yi was thinking, so it would be better to ask her in person tomorrow before saying anything.

Bai Yi waited quietly on the other end of the phone. Wang Ye hesitated for a while, then said, "Tomorrow is the weekend, so I might be very busy. I'm afraid I won't be able to handle everything by myself if you're not there."

Bai Yi felt that Wang Ye seemed strange tonight, as if he was hiding something and was embarrassed to say it.

But he didn't say anything, and Bai Yi didn't press him for details. "Well, I'll drop Linlin off at school tomorrow and then come over."

After hanging up the phone, Wang Ye felt inexplicably excited.

All he could think about was whether Bai Yi would agree and whether Bai Yi liked him.

Could it be that because of He Fen's attitude towards her, she doesn't dare to confess her feelings even if she likes him?

Or perhaps she didn't have those feelings for him at all, and was just thinking about paying back the money as soon as possible so she could divorce him?

After all, Bai Yi married him before because she had no other choice, but things are different now. She has a stable job, and it's a job with good prospects.

She has excellent suitors around her, so even if she divorces him, they will still have options.

Feeling anxious, excited, and conflicted, Wang Ye kept thinking about it until he couldn't sleep.

Later, he didn't know how he fell asleep. Anyway, he was woken up by a cell phone ringing before he was fully awake the next day.

Wang Ye was so sleepy that he reached for his phone and answered it without even looking at it.

"Hello?"

A moment of silence.

Wang Ye, with his eyes closed and not hearing a sound, asked again, "Who is it? Speak!"

There was still no sound on the phone, and the next second, the call was disconnected.

Wang Ye was furious.

Calling so early in the morning without saying a word, like he's sick.

Wang Ye's sleepiness vanished due to anger. He glanced at the time; it was almost eleven o'clock.

It seems like it's getting late.

He wiped his face, threw off the covers, and got out of bed.

As he got out of bed to put on his slippers, he paused for a few seconds, as if he had suddenly realized something, and turned to look for his phone.

He thinks he just saw someone send him several text messages.

Wang Ye opened his phone and, sure enough, saw several unread text messages, all of which contained pictures.

With a puzzled look in his mind, Wang Ye clicked on the picture.

When Wang Ye clicked on the first picture, his eyes suddenly widened.

Who is this?

Are Bai Yi and Zhou Yi?

He suspected he wasn't fully awake and was seeing things, so he rubbed his eyes vigorously a few times.

Upon closer inspection, it was indeed Zhou Yi and Bai Yi.

The two sat facing each other in a coffee shop.

The image quality was excellent; Wang Ye could even clearly see the expression on Zhou Yi's face.

The image was deeply moving and touching, and coupled with his somewhat handsome face, even without sound, Wang Ye could imagine what he was saying.

Wang Ye suddenly remembered the few phone calls Bai Yi hadn't answered yesterday.

What does he mean by that?

Could it be that he couldn't sit still because Bai Yi didn't answer his calls, and was planning to confess his feelings directly?

Thinking about this, Wang Ye became restless.

He dialed Bai Yi's number almost without thinking.

To be honest, Wang Ye was very nervous when he made that call.

Although he didn't know what he was nervous about.

He was afraid Bai Yi would answer, because he hadn't figured out how to bring it up with her, but he was also afraid Bai Yi wouldn't answer.

It felt like two little people were fighting in Wang Ye's mind.

He felt he was being incredibly pathetic. So what if Bai Yi didn't like him? He had to act like a man.

At worst, they'll be rejected, and they can part amicably. After all, neither of them has suffered a loss in all this time they've been married.

The only one who might be sad is Linlin. If Bai Yi chooses Zhou Yi, who knows if that guy surnamed Zhou will treat Linlin well.

Wang Ye was thinking a bunch of random thoughts, but the next second, the voice on his phone poured cold water on his enthusiasm.

"Hello, the number you dialed is currently busy..."

Bai Yi didn't answer.

Wang Ye sat blankly on the edge of the bed, holding his phone, for a long while.

He didn't know what he was imagining, but in the end, he comforted himself.

It's nothing serious; it just shows that he and Bai Yi were never meant to be.

He had even planned it out: if Bai Yi came back and asked for a divorce, he would accept it calmly, and might even wish her well.

While we're at it, let's also discuss with her when she can repay the rest of her money.

Wang Ye is no saint. Love is love, and money is money. If this relationship is really going to end, then they will settle things the way they always have to.

After planning everything out for himself, Wang Ye prepared to wash his face.

But as soon as I got up, my phone rang again.

You have to admit he's pathetic. He was just thinking about Bai Yi talking to him about divorce, and when his phone rang, he was actually hoping it was Bai Yi calling.

Upon closer inspection, it turned out not to be Bai Yi, but an unfamiliar number.

Wang Ye hesitated for two seconds before answering the call.

After a moment of silence on the other end of the phone, "Wang Ye, it's me."

Wang Ye didn't recognize Zhou Hui's voice at first, until she said her second sentence, "Do you have time? I'd like to talk to you."

When Wang Ye realized that the person on the other end was Zhou Hui, he immediately refused, saying, "I don't have time."

He was about to hang up the phone.

"Don't you want to know what's going on between Bai Yi and my brother?"

Wang Ye paused, Zhou Hui's words leaving him somewhat confused.

"Your brother?"

"Didn't Bai Yi tell you that Zhou Yi is my brother, my own brother?"
