Chapter 832 Catching a Thief
Since Qiao Xing and Sun Miao have both said so, it would seem as if Tao Yang were heartless to refuse.
In the end, he could only agree, "Okay, I'll go."
Tian Guo couldn't go to dinner with Jing Feng's people, and Qiao Xing was pregnant and it was inconvenient for her.
After discussing it, it was decided that Shen Boyan and Tao Yang could only go together.
Shen Boyan contacted a dubbing studio. Although the studio wasn't very well-known in Chongqing, Shen Boyan specifically looked up information about it.
There's nothing scandalous about him. The radio dramas and games he produces are decent, not very popular, but not to the point of being completely ignored either.
It's the kind of thing that's neither particularly popular nor unpopular.
Shen Boyan didn't have high expectations for the studio. After all, it was their first time making this kind of game, and Jingfeng's funding was already limited. Game development is expensive, so while it's good to do the best, the budget also needs to be considered.
Shen Boyan contacted the person in charge of the studio. The two chatted briefly on the phone and agreed to meet in a few days to discuss the details.
After finishing my work, it was time to leave work before I knew it.
Tao Yang just walked in. "The seats have been reserved. Are there any available now?"
Shen Boyan stood up, put on his coat, and said, "Okay, let's go."
The two left the company, hailed a taxi on the roadside, and after arriving at their destination, got out and walked towards the restaurant.
As Tao Yang walked, he said, "Do you think we should take this opportunity to talk to Jingfeng's people and see if we can settle the final payment? Our game has clearly exceeded the budget by now, and we can't keep having you pay out of your own pocket, can we?"
Tao Yang only recently learned that the cost of their game was much higher than Jing Feng had initially anticipated. Just as gamers spend a lot of money, so do game developers.
The money Jing Feng gave them had long been used up, and Shen Boyan had been using his own money to cover the already overburdened budget in order to ensure the game could be released smoothly.
After they moved their company and things settled down, none of them had any money. This situation might be okay in an emergency, but if things continued like this, Shen Boyan's little bit of money would eventually all be gone.
Of course, Shen Boyan wasn't doing this to demonstrate any spirit of dedication.
The agreed-upon final payment would be made in two installments: one half when the game was halfway through, and the remaining payment upon the game's completion. However, they keep delaying it.
The game has reached a point where it's neither progressing nor slowing down.
We can't just abandon the problem because we don't have enough money.
Tao Yang felt really sorry for Shen Boyan. They were doing this game together to make money, not to keep losing money. Who could stand it for long?
Shen Boyan had also considered what Tao Yang mentioned, but he felt the chances were slim. After all, when Jing Feng gave the budget, he never intended to invest more money in this game.
Their meaning is clear: they're only giving you this much money, so whatever you do in the end, if you do well, they can reap the benefits; if you don't do well, they won't lose much.
After all, this is a risky business.
In order to make money, Shen Boyan and his group had no choice but to take this risk.
Even if there isn't enough money, we still have to find a way to stay. Putting everything else aside, everyone's hard work and dedication have been poured into this game over the past few months.
So Shen Boyan said, "Let's try it in a bit, it might not work."
"We definitely have to give it a try. I'm already pretty good at this game, but if they only have this much money, there are still so many other places they need to spend money on. Are they just going to abandon us? Even if they don't care, they should at least say something so we can attract other investments!"
Apart from Tao Yang and Shen Boyan, no one else knew about this, and Shen Boyan had no intention of telling them.
The main problem is that even if Tian Guo and Sun Miao found out, they would be anxious but powerless to do anything about it.
As for Qiao Xing, Shen Boyan knew she had a way to attract investment, or she could simply get Qin Ce to invest directly.
That's why Shen Boyan was unwilling to tell Qiao Xing.
Since she joined the company, she has already spent a lot of money on the company, both internally and externally.
Shen Boyan silently pondered Tao Yang's words, thinking about how to bring this up with Jing Feng's people later.
Just as the two were about to go inside, a person dressed in black clothes and wearing a baseball cap ran past them quickly.
Then they heard someone shout, "Stop thief!"
Tao Yang and Shen Boyan turned their heads at the same time and found that the person who shouted "Stop thief!" was actually Sheng Yao.
When Sheng Yao saw the two of them, she was suddenly taken aback.
Before she could say anything, the two men had already turned around and chased after the thief.
The thief who snatched Sheng Yao's bag disappeared into an alley. Shen Boyan and Tao Yang gave chase, afraid that he would vanish without a trace if they weren't careful.
Although the thief ran fast, there were still two people chasing him. Shen Boyan and Tao Yang each went in one direction and quickly cornered the thief in a dead end.
The thief was exhausted from running, so he simply gave up and threw the bag over.
"It's just a stolen bag, why did you two have to chase me for so long, and even both of you chased me together!"
Tao Yang walked over and grabbed his collar. "Don't you know stealing is illegal? You dare to steal from anyone! I'm being lenient by not beating you up!"
The thief didn't care at all. Of course he knew that stealing was illegal, but he wouldn't be sentenced to prison. At most, he would just go to jail for a few days. It wasn't like he hadn't been to jail before.
Sheng Yao had already called the police, and just as Shen Boyan and Tao Yang brought the thief out of the alley, the police arrived.
They handcuffed the thief, put him in a police car, and took him away.
Tao Yang returned the bag to Sheng Yao, saying, "Check if anything is missing."
Sheng Yao didn't even look at them, but repeatedly bowed to thank them, "Thank you so much!"
Tao Yang kindly reminded her, "If you're a girl going out alone, don't carry such a conspicuous bag. It's easy for someone with ulterior motives to target you."
Sheng Yao smiled sheepishly. She didn't tell Tao Yang that she just found those men in black following her too annoying, so she specifically ordered them not to follow her when she went out today.
This bag was a gift from her aunt a few days ago. She didn't know the price, but she thought it looked nice and started carrying it.
Who knew that he would be targeted by a thief shortly after leaving the house.
Having lived in a sheltered environment for too long, Miss Sheng had no idea that there are countless different kinds of people in this society. Even if you look too good in a dress, it can become an excuse for you to be hurt. Thieves are something that are already commonplace.
However, Sheng Yao still nodded obediently, "I've remembered it all, thank you for reminding me."
After she finished speaking, her gaze involuntarily turned to Shen Boyan.
Tao Yang joked, "You haven't come to see Boyan for a while. Did you know that Boyan is hard to win over, so you gave up?"
