Chapter 836 Doing a Good Deed to the End

Chapter 836 Doing a Good Deed to the End

When Sheng Yao saw her youthful face, she felt that she was not even as old as herself.

When asked, the girl said she was only nineteen years old.

She explained through tears, “My father passed away six months ago. My mother couldn’t handle the blow and suffered a stroke, leaving her paralyzed on one side. My younger brother broke his leg while playing basketball with his classmates a week ago. We’ve used up all our savings. I have no choice but to find a way to earn money, otherwise our family’s source of income will be cut off…”

The three people in front of him listened to the girl recount her ordeal, and each of them fell silent, their hearts filled with complex emotions, not knowing what to say.

Everyone has their own hardships, but they never expected that so many misfortunes would befall a girl who was not even twenty years old.

This girl must have a very strong heart to endure all of this.

Sheng Yao opened her mouth, wanting to say a few words to comfort the girl, but she felt that anything she said would seem too pale.

Sheng Yao suddenly lowered her head, as if searching for something on herself.

After finding nothing, she suddenly remembered that she had left her bag in the private room.

She quickly went into the private room, found her bag, and pulled out a bank card from inside.

"Um... take this card. There's no PIN, and there's not much money in it, but you probably don't need to work here anymore. You're a girl, it's too dangerous for you to work in a place like this."

The girl seemed startled. She quickly waved her hands and shook her head frantically, "No, no! I can't take this card. I'm already very grateful for your help. I really can't take this!"

Shen Boyan, who was standing to the side, glanced at Sheng Yao silently without saying anything.

Sheng Yao forcefully shoved the card into the girl's hand. "Take it. Just don't think it's too little. Remember, never come to work here. If you can't find a job, I can help you find one."

The girl trembled as she gripped the card tightly in her hand, unable to hold back her tears any longer.

"Thank you...you're a good person..."

Sheng Yao wiped away the girl's tears and said, "Don't cry, go back quickly."

The girl asked Sheng Yao, "May I ask your name?"

"My name is Sheng Yao."

The girl remembered the name.

He bowed deeply to the three of them and said, "Thank you."

Sheng Yao breathed a sigh of relief after the girl left.

But before she could catch her breath, she belatedly realized something and turned to look at Shen Boyan beside her.

"How are you? Do you feel unwell?"

Shen Boyan pursed his lips and shook his head. "It's nothing."

He said to Sheng Yao, "You've finished your act of kindness, you can go back now."

Tao Yang couldn't help but give Sheng Yao a thumbs up for her generosity.

"You're really rich, aren't you? Giving away your bank card so easily. Aren't you afraid it's a scam?"

Sheng Yao grew up in a pampered environment and had no idea about the wickedness of human nature.

She just did what she felt she could do, and if it really was a scam, she could only blame herself for being unlucky.

Just like now, she didn't know if she could save the girl, but she couldn't just abandon her.

Sheng Yao said optimistically, "So what if he's a scammer? Anyway, I have a clear conscience. Besides, don't think so badly of people. What if he's not a scammer? Then I'll have done a great deed!"

Tao Yang chuckled, "The price you paid for this good deed is a bit high. You did the good thing, but Boyan is the one who suffers."

Tao Yang spoke too quickly, and by the time Shen Boyan tried to stop him, it was too late.

Sheng Yao's shoulders slumped instantly. She lowered her head, staring at her toes. "I'm sorry... I acted too impulsively and dragged you all into this..."

Tao Yang laughed and said, "Just kidding. Bo Yan did a hero save the damsel in distress. You owe Bo Yan a huge favor!"

"Mmm-hmm!" Sheng Yao nodded vigorously. "I know, I've remembered it all, and I will definitely repay him properly!"

Shen Boyan wanted to shut Tao Yang up several times, but he held back.

He forced back the discomfort in his stomach and said to Tao Yang, "It's time to go."

Just as the two were about to leave, Sheng Yao suddenly grabbed Shen Boyan's arm, "You're not feeling well, I'll go back with you and take care of you, as a way of repaying you."

Shen Boyan let out a barely perceptible sigh, his restrained tone tinged with helplessness, "I told you I'm fine, and I don't need your reply. You should go back now."

"Your face has changed color, and you still say you're fine!"

Tao Yang asked in surprise, "How did you know his expression changed?"

Shen Boyan thought, "Isn't this perfectly fine?"

Sheng Yao insisted, "He's in so much pain, didn't you even notice?"

Tao Yang, "?"

He seemed to suddenly realize something, and smiled meaningfully, "You wouldn't be making excuses to spend time alone with Boyan, would you?"

Shen Boyan glared at him and said, "Shut up."

Sheng Yao didn't mean it that way at all. She said anxiously, "He's really in a lot of pain, why can't you tell?"

Tao Yang had an expression that said, "I understand, I get it all."

"Then why don't you take care of Boyan? He'll be all alone when he goes back anyway, so you might as well go all the way."

After Tao Yang finished speaking, he immediately added, "Well, I have something to do, so I'll head back first. I'll leave Boyan in your care. Thank you for your hard work!"

He slipped away quickly, not giving Shen Boyan a chance to speak at all.

As the alcohol took effect, Shen Boyan began to feel dizzy, and the pain in his stomach became more and more pronounced.

All these changes were observed by Sheng Yao.

"If you're feeling down, just say it! Why hold it in? Nobody's going to laugh at you!"

Shen Boyan opened his mouth, wanting to speak, but was stopped by Sheng Yao's words, "Trying to say you're fine again? Fine, fine, you're fine. I was just making excuses to be alone with you. Just take pity on me and grant me this unreasonable request, okay?"

Shen Boyan pursed his lips and swallowed back all the words he wanted to say.

Sheng Yao helped him up. "Let's go."

Shen Boyan looked at her, "Where are you going?"

"Of course we'll go to your house. Do you expect me to go there? That's impossible. My aunt and uncle won't agree."

She talked to herself, completely disregarding whether Shen Boyan would listen.

Shen Boyan didn't want to talk to anyone, but he was feeling terrible, so he closed his eyes as soon as he got in the car and forced himself to fall asleep.

But Miss Sheng, with her erratic thinking, was probably lost in thought.

Perhaps worried that Shen Boyan would never open his eyes again once he closed them, she kept talking in his ear.

She kept rambling on and on until Shen Boyan finally couldn't take it anymore. He opened his eyes and said to her, "Be quiet."

Sheng Yao breathed a sigh of relief.

She still has the strength to yell at her, so it seems there's nothing seriously wrong with her.
