Chapter 873 No Place for Him
Grandpa Qin asked in surprise, "Xiao Yi, what brings you here?"
Qin Yi chuckled sheepishly, "Um, is there any breakfast? I caught an early flight and came straight here after leaving the airport. I'm starving."
Upon hearing this, the nanny repeatedly replied, "Coming right away! Coming right away!"
Qin Ce frowned, his lips moved slightly, as if he wanted to say something but stopped himself.
Qin Yi knew what he was going to ask, and spoke up before he could, "Brother, can we eat first? I'm really starving!"
After he finished speaking, he quickly walked towards Grandpa Qin, "Grandpa, how have you been feeling lately? Have you missed me?"
Grandpa Qin tapped him on the head. "You little rascal, you suddenly ran off to Chongqing without telling us. What are you trying to do!"
Qin Yi looked hurt. "Grandpa, it's a long story. I'll tell you after I've eaten!"
Qiao Xing got up after hearing the noise outside.
While she was in the bedroom, she vaguely felt that the voice outside sounded like Qin Yi's.
Qiao Xing thought it was because she had just woken up and had a hearing problem.
Why is Qin Yi, who was doing well in Beijing, coming all the way here?
However, when she came out of the bedroom and went downstairs, she was completely stunned to see that the person standing in the living room was indeed Qin Yi.
"Qin Yi? What brings you here!"
Before Qin Yi could say anything, the nanny had already prepared breakfast.
Qin Yi was the first to sit down at the dining table. He said he hadn't eaten breakfast, but he ate as if he hadn't eaten for several meals.
Qiao Xing and Grandpa Qin were both stunned.
Only Qin Ce remained calm. "You were expelled from the Qin family?"
Qin Yi had something stuffed in his mouth, so his speech was slurred, "How could that be? Even if someone gets kicked out, I can't possibly be kicked out!"
"So what happened to you?"
Qin Yi lowered his head and ate, stammering as if unwilling to speak.
Qin Ce remained silent, his gaze fixed on him.
Unable to bear his gaze, Qin Yi swallowed what was in his mouth and said reluctantly, "It's just that Dad and Aunt Wang arranged a blind date for me and insisted that I go to meet him. When I refused, Dad scolded me. I couldn't take it, so I came here to you."
Logically speaking, Qin Yi should be dating at his age, so it's understandable that Qin Liang would arrange blind dates for him.
However, Qin Yi was so intimidated by Qiao Ying that he felt uncomfortable even when interacting with a woman, let alone dating or getting married.
When Grandpa Qin heard that he had come because he didn't want to go on a blind date, he immediately scolded him with a stern face, "You're already in your mid-twenties, not an eighteen-year-old boy. It's only right for you to settle down and start a family. How can you be so willful?"
Qiao Xing glanced at Qin Ce, and after exchanging a look, the two seemed to understand each other's thoughts.
Qin Ce didn't care whether Qin Yi got married or not. He could get married if he wanted to, or play around for two years if he didn't. He wasn't cut out for business, so there was no need for him to arrange a marriage for commercial reasons.
Qin Liang was anxious because he and Qin Ce had already fallen out, and he didn't want Qin Yi to run away from the Qin family as well. So he was in a hurry to get him married and tie him to the Qin family completely.
Qiao Xing thought of something similar to Qin Yi. She knew that Qin Yi must have been traumatized by what happened before, which was why he was unwilling to get married.
Therefore, neither Qiao Xing nor Qin Ce expressed their opinions on this matter.
Upon hearing his grandfather's words, Qin Yi's expression immediately turned bitter. "Grandpa, I'm in my twenties, not thirties. Besides, my brother is already married and has children. Isn't it enough for him to carry on the family line? Why do you insist on making me get married?"
"Don't talk nonsense!" Grandpa Qin tapped him on the head. "Don't you know what's going on with your brother? He's not like you. It's one thing for your brother, but do you want to follow in his footsteps?"
"I..." Qin Yi said in a muffled voice, "I never thought that way."
"So what do you think?"
"Grandpa, I just don't want to get married. I didn't mean to go against Dad, but this is something I did voluntarily. They can't force me like this!" Qin Yi said, feeling miserable.
Grandpa Qin sighed helplessly, "The Qin family isn't some small, insignificant family. The girl we've arranged for you is naturally quite well-off. How will you know if she's suitable if you don't even take a look?"
"Even if it's suitable, I won't look at it!" Qin Yi said firmly. "I'd rather die than get married!"
Qin Ce snorted coldly, "Don't speak too confidently."
Grandpa Qin immediately picked up where Qin Ce left off, "Yes, look at your brother. He's been living abroad for the past few years. He only came back specifically to get married. He was completely unwilling at first, but in the end, he still married Xingxing. Don't you think he's so lucky?"
Qiao Xing smiled but didn't say anything.
She vaguely remembered that Qin Ce got married because of Qin's grandfather's "threat," right?
Qin Yi almost retorted to his grandfather's words without thinking, "Grandpa, if I remember correctly, my brother didn't want to marry my sister-in-law at first, but you forced him to marry her, right? That's no different from my dad!"
Grandpa Qin's eyes widened suddenly, but he wasn't angry.
To prove to Qin Yi that his initial decision was correct, he directly asked Qin Ce, "Xiao Ce, tell me honestly, have you ever regretted marrying Qiao Xing?"
"No."
Qin Ce spoke very decisively.
But Qin Yi scoffed at it in his heart.
Qiao Xing was sitting right next to him. Did Qin Ce dare to say he had ever regretted it?
Any normal man would give that answer.
Therefore, Grandpa Qin's question is not rigorous at all.
After asking his question, Grandpa Qin turned back to Qin Yi and continued to scold him, "See? Your brother is the best example of what you're going to do. Whether you want to or not, you'll have to go through this sooner or later."
Qin Yi came to Chongqing to find Qin Ce, just to get some peace and quiet for a couple of days.
Who knew that Grandpa Qin was also brainwashing him?
Qin Yi suddenly felt like he had no will to live.
He looked at Qin Ce with pleading eyes, then at Qiao Xing, trying to get them to speak up for him.
Grandpa Qin meant that he wanted Qin Yi to give it a try; if he succeeded, everyone would be happy.
Since he already thought that way, Qiao Xing couldn't very well express any other opinions in front of him.
Although she also wanted to speak up for Qin Yi, she tactfully spoke up for the sake of Grandpa Qin.
"Xiao Yi, blind dates don't necessarily mean marriage. You have to go and see for yourself to know if it's a good match or not. If you don't like someone, you don't have to agree to get married."
Qin Ce ignored him; he only cared about one question: "How long are you going to stay here?"
Qin Yi felt a pang of heartache.
He had barely arrived when his brother started telling him to leave.
The world is so vast, yet there is nowhere for him to find refuge.
That's so tragic.
But Qin Yi still shamelessly told Qin Ce, "I don't know when Dad and Aunt Wang will stop making me go on blind dates, then I'll leave."
