Chapter 430 Do you really hate me to this day?
The old man spoke, a strange look in his eyes. He glanced at Qin Ce and asked, "Are you angry with me?"
"No."
The old man pursed his lips, looking like he didn't believe him. He shouldn't have let him get involved. If he hadn't, he and Qiao Xing would probably be doing quite well.
Qin Ce changed the subject, "What did you two talk about?"
He was referring to what the old man and Qin Liang said, and why they were so angry they almost died on the spot.
Upon hearing this, the old man immediately flew into a rage.
"What else could it be? Isn't Qin Ji about to graduate? He wants to arrange for Qin Ji to join the company."
"That's it?"
"That's not all. He told me that it's the young people's world now, and suggested that I hold a meeting to redistribute the shares. Do you know what that means?"
Qin Liang's plan practically tells everyone that Qin Ji will be the future heir, and the redistribution of shares means that Qin Ce's shares will also have to be given up and shared with Wang Yu's children.
In this way, with their larger numbers and combined shares, they could easily kick Qin Ce out.
"So that's how it is."
The old man patted his chest. "I'm not going to talk about it anymore. It makes me angry. And you, why did you come back?"
Qin Ce frowned, realizing something. "Did he tell you all this on purpose to lure me back?"
The old man snorted coldly, "What do you think? This kid is truly an ingrate."
As he spoke, a hint of sadness appeared in his eyes. In order to lure Qin Ce back, he had even schemed against his own father.
No sooner had he finished speaking than there was a knock at the door. Old Zheng appeared at the door and said, "Young Master, the Master requests your presence in the study."
Qin Ce turned his head slightly and glanced at Old Zheng, who was standing there, seemingly waiting for Qin Ce.
Qin Ce and the old man exchanged a glance, and the old man gave him a look, signaling him to go.
Qin Ce then stood up, walked out of the bedroom, and followed Old Zheng to the study.
Old Zheng knocked on the door to inform Qin Liang, and then said to Qin Ce, "Young Master, please go in yourself. The Master is inside."
Qin Ce pushed open the door and went in.
Qin Liang stood in front of the floor-to-ceiling window, his hands behind his back, staring out the window without turning around.
Qin Ce walked over without saying a word; the two seemed to be engaged in a silent contest.
Finally, Qin Liang spoke first. He stared at the banyan tree in the yard and said, "Do you remember that tree?"
Qin Ce glanced at it. "I don't remember."
Qin Liang glanced at him, looked him up and down, and then smiled, "Qin Ce, your surname is Qin, am I right?"
Qin Ce met his gaze. "If you mind, I can change my surname."
"I just don't understand, why are you so hostile towards me?" Qin Liang pointed to the banyan tree outside. "It's been 25 years, ever since you carved the words 'Qin Liang deserves to die' on that tree when you were five years old. Have you really hated me until now?"
Qin Ce remained silent, but his attitude spoke volumes.
"Tell me, what did I do to offend you? Hmm?"
"You came to me just to say this?"
Qin Liang was amused by his attitude. "Fine, very fine indeed. The old man always says I'm biased. Look at your own attitude. Why do you think I'm biased?"
"You keep saying it has nothing to do with me, that I'm not your father, so what are you doing holding these shares?"
Qin Ce's gaze finally wavered slightly as he stared intently at Qin Liang. "Is this what you wanted to say?"
Qin Liang waved his hand. "I won't waste my breath on you. Now that you're back, give me a straight answer. If you're still willing to come back to this family and be my son, I have no objection to you keeping the shares. I can even let you take over the entire Qin Group."
"But if you don't want to acknowledge me as your father, if you don't admit that you are a member of the Qin family, then hand over the shares. Don't try to have your cake and eat it too."
Qin Liang's words made sense. If he didn't acknowledge his status as a member of the Qin family, his claim of holding the old man's shares wouldn't hold water.
Qin Ce said, "Are you mistaken? It's true that I took the old man's shares, but which rule says that only members of the Qin family can own shares? My transaction with the old man was a normal share transaction. He agreed to it, the law recognizes it, and there are proper procedures and documents."
He said, word by word, "Just because you say you're not a member of the Qin family, you think you can overturn the law? That's far too arrogant."
Qin Liang was speechless, and the anger that had been suppressed slowly began to overflow again.
"After all this talk, you still want to fight me, don't you?"
“I have never been interested in fighting with you. It is you who are worried that I will deal with your good-for-nothing children in the future. You are afraid that they will not be able to stand on their own, so you are busy paving the way for them. It is you who are making trouble for me.”
"Actually, I don't understand either. Why do you insist on using the pretext of getting me to return to the Qin family to pin all the blame on me?"
“You…” Qin Liang was always furious whenever he spoke to him.
Qin Ce was different from his children; he was not easily fooled and would not listen to either soft or hard approaches. No matter what you said, he would refute you.
Before he could speak, Qin Ce continued, "If you truly wanted me to come back, if you truly wanted to be my father, you wouldn't be after these shares. You've never trusted me, so how can you expect me to trust you?"
Qin Liang's face darkened, and he couldn't find the words to say for a moment.
Qin Ce looked at the banyan tree outside. "You still keep that tree. Don't tell me you keep it to remember me?"
"Then what would I keep it for?"
Qin Ce tilted his head slightly to look at him, "Isn't it to constantly remind yourself that you have a son who hates you? To remind yourself that you must never be soft-hearted towards him?"
"Nonsense!" Qin Liang was trembling with anger. He pointed at Qin Ce and said through gritted teeth, "You are just like your mother, suspicious by nature and prone to generalization. I shouldn't have let her take you away in the first place."
"You have no right to mention her."
"I'm not qualified? Without me, where would you, you bastard, come from?" Qin Liang pinched his temple. "You're driving me crazy! Get out of here!"
Qin Ce stared at him for two seconds, then turned and walked out.
As soon as I opened the door, I saw Qin Yi standing there.
Qin Ce turned his head and walked straight towards the old man's bedroom. Qin Yi followed behind him and whispered, "Brother, you're really something. You can argue with him back and forth."
If it were him, he would have surrendered the moment Qin Liang said his second sentence, instead of the two of them arguing for so long.
Qin Liang seemed genuinely enraged; he had heard Qin Liang's furious shouts from the doorway.
Qin Ce paused, turning his head to look at him.
Qin Yi was stunned, as if he saw murderous intent in his cold eyes.
Why are you looking at me like that?
