Extra 48
Qin Anning slept until ten in the morning, and when she woke up, it was already bright outside.
Qin Man had gotten up earlier than her; she was woken up by the sound of Qin Man washing up in the bathroom.
Qin Anning rubbed her eyes, got out of bed, closed her eyes for a while, and her mind slowly cleared up.
She picked up her phone and glanced at it; it was quiet, and no one was contacting her.
After a while, Qin Man came out of the bathroom. "Oh, you're awake? Did you sleep well last night?"
Qin Anning rubbed her temples and said weakly, "Yeah, my back and waist are sore from sleeping too long."
I haven't been sleeping well lately, but I finally got a good night's sleep last night.
What's amazing is that now when she thinks of Fu Yin, she no longer feels that emptiness she used to have.
Indeed, time heals all wounds.
Qin Anning decisively threw off the covers and got out of bed. Suddenly remembering something, she turned her head and asked, "Is my cousin still not up?"
Qin Man shook her head. "I don't know either. I just got up a little while ago, but I didn't hear him ring the doorbell. I guess he's still asleep?"
Qin Anning thought for a moment, then took out her phone and sent him a message.
A short while later, a message came back: Bai Lin said, "I'm in the restaurant on the third floor. You can just come down later."
Qin Anning put away her phone, quickly went to the restroom to wash up, then told Qin Man to pack her things and went straight downstairs to the restaurant.
As expected, they had overslept; there were hardly any people left in the restaurant, except for Bai Lin and another couple.
The two walked over quickly and sat down in front of Bai Lin.
Qin Anning said, "I'm sorry, we got up late."
Bai Lin smiled slightly, "It's okay, it's not like I'm going to work. When you're out having fun, you should relax."
"That's true." Qin Anning smiled in agreement.
Qin Man went to get breakfast, but Qin Anning was too lazy to move, so she asked her to bring one over.
Bai Lin glanced at her and suddenly said, "Did you stay up too late watching the live stream last night?"
Qin Anning was taken aback for a moment, then casually explained, "No, I went back to sleep. What's up? Are you interested in live streaming too?"
"No." Bai Lin's lips twitched slightly, then he changed the subject, "But I heard that those streamers sometimes meet with the big shots in private."
Qin Anning looked at him suspiciously, not understanding what he meant. Wasn't he uninterested in live streaming? How did he know so much?
"Oh, I know, but that has nothing to do with us."
Bai Lin stared at her for a while, then finally sighed helplessly, "That's true."
Qin Man also brought over a plate and handed one to Qin Anning, saying, "Here, we took the same one."
"Thanks."
The two stopped discussing the anchor issue. Qin Anning was a little hungry and focused on eating her breakfast.
After breakfast, the three of them set off together.
Upon realizing she had to take a car, Qin Man felt a deep sense of bitterness and resentment. She wanted to cry but couldn't, wishing she could fly back to Haishi right then and there.
But she had promised Qin Anning, so even though she was a hundred times unwilling, she could only endure it.
Qin Anning offered to drive today, but Bai Lin refused.
Bai Lin continued driving according to the navigation. For a while, everyone had nothing to talk about, and the car was eerily quiet.
Qin Man was even more drowsy.
Qin Anning, on the other hand, was quite energetic, sitting in the car looking around and enjoying the scenery along the way.
It's quite far from here, and with them stopping and starting like this, it would probably take them another day to drive there.
Breakfast was eaten rather late, so at noon we only took a short break at the service area, ate some snacks, and then continued our journey in the afternoon.
As evening approached, Qin Anning and Qin Man were discussing where to exit the highway and where to stay for the night.
But suddenly it started raining. It was only a little past five o'clock, and the sky was pitch black, as if it were the middle of the night.
Bai Lin frowned and said gravely, "It looks like it's going to rain heavily. Let's take the nearest highway."
Qin Anning nodded. "Okay."
Bai Lin drove the car into the tunnel; once he exited the tunnel, he could get off the highway.
However, less than a minute after we started driving, we were met with a barrage of urgent horn blares and loud noises coming from the tunnel entrance.
The car in front suddenly braked and stopped, and Bai Lin almost crashed into it because he didn't know what it was doing.
Just as I braked, the car behind me rushed up, and even though it had slowed down, it still crashed into me.
Qin Anning clearly felt a pushing force that propelled their car upwards, causing it to crash straight into the black car in front of them.
Just when she thought it was over, the car behind her slid forward uncontrollably for a distance, and Qin Anning felt the car shake again.
Clearly, the car behind them was also hit by a car that couldn't brake in time, just like them.
The impact continued several times before finally stabilizing. Qin Anning breathed a sigh of relief; a few more impacts and their car would have been smashed into a pancake.
Qin Man screamed repeatedly from the side, frantically grabbing Qin Anning, her voice trembling with tears.
"We're not going to die here, are we?"
"What nonsense are you talking about?" Qin Anning was also a little scared. She patted Qin Man's arm and comforted her, "There might have been an accident up ahead. Let's go check what happened later."
Accidents are common on highways, but no one expected them to be so unlucky as to encounter an accident scene.
The tunnel was filled with the sounds of horns and brakes, and many people got out of their cars. Some were asking around what had happened, while others walked straight ahead, wanting to see the source of the accident.
Some sat in their cars cursing loudly, while others took out their phones to make calls.
Seeing that the cars behind had almost stabilized, Bai Lin said, "I'll get out and check first. You guys get out too and stand in the safe areas on either side."
Qin Anning nodded, called Qin Man, got out of the car, and came to the small road next to the tunnel.
Besides them, many other people got off at the station and stood here, also out of fear of any unforeseen events.
Looking ahead, the road was almost completely blocked by vehicles, with no end in sight and no indication of the source of the accident.
Qin Anning told Qin Man to wait where she was, and she caught up with Bai Lin, saying, "Cousin, I'll go with you to see it."
Bai Lin glanced at her, thought for a moment, and then agreed.
The two walked forward together. The road was really long, and it was crowded with people. Everyone was rushing forward, eager to see what was happening.
The end result was that the front was overcrowded and completely blocked.
Some people even stood on the car to look out.
Ahead of us was another couple, around twenty-seven or twenty-eight years old. They were talking quietly, the man gently comforting his girlfriend and occasionally asking the people in front of them what had happened.
The people in front of them didn't know either, so they were all asking the people in front of them.
Ten minutes had passed by the time the message from the front reached here.
