Extra 49

Extra 49

It turned out that the tunnel exit ahead had collapsed, causing an accident to the car in front, which was followed by a large truck. A series of vehicles were unable to brake in time, resulting in a collision.

I could vaguely hear someone shouting ahead, asking if there was a doctor behind me.

Everyone was passing the message around, and unexpectedly, the girl in the couple standing in front was a doctor. When she heard someone shout, she immediately raised her hand and squeezed into the crowd.

Qin Anning looked at her with admiration, but unfortunately there was nothing she could do to help.

Not long after, two more doctors arrived, both men, and they hurriedly made their way through the crowd.

Everyone consciously made way for them so that they could pass quickly.

There were too many people in front of her, and Qin Anning couldn't squeeze through, so she could only stand there and listen to their discussions.

More than an hour later, Qin Anning had gotten the gist of it. The landslide ahead looked serious, and a large rock was blocking the entrance. He didn't know what the situation was like outside.

There was no signal at all in the tunnel, and I couldn't make phone calls.

Many people at the scene spontaneously formed a temporary rescue team and rescued those who could be rescued. Those who could not be rescued could only wait for rescue from outside.

Qin Anning originally wanted to help, but it was too difficult to squeeze through, and there was no need for anyone else.

Too many people would actually make things inconvenient.

Bai Lin said, "Let's go back, there are too many people here."

Qin Anning nodded and followed Bai Lin back, but unexpectedly there were just as many people behind them, and they couldn't even squeeze through.

Bai Lin walked ahead, then looked back and saw her staggering in the crowd. He grabbed her hand and pulled her back.

It took them about ten minutes to get back to their original positions.

Qin Man had already gotten back to the car, unable to stand it any longer. When she saw the two of them return, she leaned out and asked, "How did it go? When can we go out?"

Qin Anning shook her head. "I don't know, it will probably take some time."

Qin Man sighed, "I told you to head home, now look what's happened, we're stuck here and can't get out, and there's no cell phone signal."

It was almost 8 p.m., and the tunnel was pitch black, with everyone relying on their cell phone lights for illumination.

But the phone's light is too bright, and it's dazzling whenever you look up.

Bai Lin said, "Let's get in the car first; there's no point in standing here."

"Mmm." After standing for more than an hour, Qin Anning was exhausted. She opened the car door and got in.

After sitting in the car, she felt a lingering fear and also felt sorry for the person who had the accident at the front.

I don't know the exact number of casualties, but I hope they are all safe and sound.

Qin Man leaned against the car listlessly, turning her head to look at Qin Anning, "Anning, are we going to continue our journey after we leave?"

"I don't know, let's talk about it when we get out."

Qin Man fell silent. The atmosphere inside the car was heavy, perhaps because of the accident earlier, or perhaps because she was trapped here, or perhaps both.

After some time, Qin Man said, "I'm a little hungry."

Qin Anning glanced at her and said, "I'm hungry too."

I didn't eat lunch. I was planning to eat after I got off the highway, but now I'm stuck here and there's nothing to eat.

There was only a case of water in the trunk, not much food, but there were some snacks in the front.

Qin Anning grabbed the bag from the passenger seat and counted the food inside: a few bags of potato chips and a few bags of spicy strips, none of which could be eaten as a meal.

She took out the potato chips, gave a bag to Qin Man, and then called out to Bai Lin outside.

Bai Lin stepped forward, bent down to look inside, and asked, "What's wrong?"

Qin Anning handed over the potato chips in her hand, saying, "Here, have some."

Bai Lin glanced at it, smiled slightly, and said, "No need, I'm not hungry yet, you guys eat."

After saying that, he retreated without waiting for Qin Anning to speak, and it's unclear what he was talking about with those people.

Seeing this, Qin Anning ignored him and started eating potato chips.

I was very hungry, but I didn't have much of an appetite.

Time passed second by second. The people in front said that the rescue team had arrived, but they were still clearing the landslide outside, and they didn't know when they would be able to get out.

Another hour passed, and around 9 p.m., Bai Lin got into the car.

Not only him, but everyone outside gradually returned to their cars, and there weren't many people left outside.

Qin Man was already asleep beside her. Qin Anning asked softly, "What's the situation now? How much longer do we have to wait?"

Bai Lin also answered in a low voice, "There are still at least two hours left, you should rest for a while."

"It's taking so long, will we be able to get through?"

"I'm afraid that's not possible; we'll have to go back."

Qin Anning sighed. Their current position was awkward, stuck in traffic, neither going up nor down. Whether they reversed back or walked forward, the distance was about the same.

I might have to spend the night here.

As it turned out, her guess was correct; the vehicles evacuating behind were moving very slowly, and it was unclear how long they would have to wait when it was their turn.

Moreover, some cars behind them didn't want to reverse at a snail's pace and would only catch up after the cars behind them had moved out, which is why they hadn't moved an inch yet.

Qin Anning felt stuffy sitting in the car, so she opened the door and got out to get some fresh air.

Bai Lin also got out of the car and handed her a bottle of water.

The two of them didn't care about hygiene and sat down on the steps like the others.

Looking at the dimly lit tunnel, Bai Lin sighed, "I never expected something like this to happen. It seems this trip won't be very pleasant."

Qin Anning said, "It's all predestined; there's no such thing as a smooth journey."

She seemed to be talking about the accident, but also about something else entirely.

Bai Lin turned to look at her, opened his mouth as if he wanted to say something, but in the end he didn't say anything.

The two sat there quietly, with the occasional sound of voices in the tunnel, but it was still very quiet.

She didn't know how much time had passed, but her eyelids started to droop. Then someone shouted that the car had started moving, and Qin Anning suddenly woke up.

She turned her head and saw that the car behind her was slowly backing up, although she couldn't see the end of it.

Qin Anning said happily, "Quickly, get back in the car!"

Bai Lin responded, and the two got up and got into the car together.

Qin Man slept soundly, completely unaware of what was happening outside.

Bai Lin started the car and slowly reversed, following the car behind.

This process was quite lengthy, and even Qin Anning, who doesn't get carsick, started to feel nauseous from the constant stopping and starting as they moved backward.

She could only keep drinking water to relieve the discomfort in her stomach.

Seeing this, Bai Lin decisively stopped the car and stopped reversing at a snail's pace.

This caused dissatisfaction among some of the cars ahead, and some drivers even stuck their heads out to ask him why he wasn't moving.

Bai Lin said, "Anyway, the time spent is the same, so I'll leave when there's free time later."

Perhaps because they had been trapped here for too long, everyone was getting irritable, and some even started cursing.
