Is Chapter 136 a proper movie?

Is Chapter 136 a proper movie?

Qin Ce was filled with doubts, and he began to wonder what had happened while he was away that afternoon.

But he didn't ask.

After returning home, Qiao Xing took the groceries and quickly hid in the kitchen.

The old man noticed her unease at a glance and then gave Qin Ce a strange look.

Although I really didn't want to talk to this brat, I couldn't resist asking out of curiosity, "What movie did you guys watch?"

The old man suspected that he had taken Qiao Xing to see some indecent movies.

"I don't know what movie it is," Qin Ce answered honestly.

The old man thought he was just saying it out of spite, and his face immediately fell. "Fine, don't tell me then. Do you really think I care to hear it?"

Qin Ce said helplessly, "I really don't know what movie that is."

He spoke sincerely, and the old man frowned. "Is it a serious movie?"

Qin Ce was also taken aback. "There are indecent movies in cinemas?"

This conversation was rather baffling.

"That's true." The old man awkwardly looked away, and to cover his embarrassment, went to the balcony to play with the parrot.

After Qiao Xing finished cooking and served the food, the three of them sat down at the table.

The old man glanced at Qiao Xing and asked kindly, "Xingxing, is something on your mind today?"

Qiao Xing snapped out of her daze and stammered, "No, what's wrong, Grandpa?"

The old man picked up the water next to him and took a big gulp. "Hmm... it's nothing, it's just that the food is a bit salty."

Qiao Xing paused for a moment, then picked up a piece of cucumber and tasted it.

"..."

"I'm sorry, I might have put too much salt in. I'll make it again." Qiao Xing had just stood up when she suddenly remembered that she had bought groceries all day.

But this dish is truly inedible; every bite is nothing but salt, enough to make you choke.

She must have been spacing out while adding the salt and accidentally poured in too much.

Qin Ce grabbed her arm. "No need for that, let's just order takeout."

Qiao Xing looked down at the hand gripping her, and her whole body stiffened.

She nodded, feigning composure, "Okay, okay, I'll tidy these up."

Qiao Xing broke free from his hand and hurriedly carried all the food on the table into the kitchen.

The old man, having reached his limit, asked again, "What's wrong with you two?"

Qin Ce twitched the corner of his mouth. "I don't know."

"I don't know, I don't know! What else do you know? You'll drive me crazy sooner or later!"

Qin Ce gave the old man a long, wistful look.

The key point is, he genuinely didn't know.

Qin Ce was too lazy to argue with the old man. He took out his phone and ordered takeout. He randomly ordered a few dishes, which were all the home-style dishes that Qiao Xing usually liked to make.

While waiting for her takeout, Qiao Xing came out, and the old man called her back.

"Star, Grandpa is going back to live tomorrow."

Qiao Xing glanced at Qin Ce subconsciously, "What's wrong? Is it because of the food I cooked...?"

The old man waved his hand to interrupt her, "No, I didn't plan to stay here for long. This is your marital home, so we should give you both some private space."

Upon hearing the word "bridal chamber," Qiao Xing couldn't help but think of other things, and the blush that had just faded from her face returned.

"Also, I'm afraid if I stay here any longer, I'll get driven crazy by someone sooner or later."

Qiao Xing glanced at Qin Ce again.

Qin Ce was also baffled.

"Grandpa, don't be angry," Qiao Xing still tried to persuade him, saying it would be inconvenient for him to go back to live alone.

“Grandpa wasn’t being stubborn, he just wanted to go back to live here. I don’t know anyone here, and I’m not used to being cooped up in the house all the time. If Grandpa misses you, he’ll come to see you from time to time and stay for a few days.”

"Or if you miss Grandpa, you can come and see him. It's not far anyway."

Seeing that he was determined and didn't seem to be sulking, Qiao Xing didn't insist on keeping him.

"Alright then, Grandpa, you can come anytime you want, since you know the password anyway."

The old man nodded. "Okay."

Just then, the food delivery arrived. However, the community has a gate system, so the delivery person couldn't come up. Qin Ce stood up and went downstairs to get the food.

After he left, the old man beckoned to Qiao Xing, "Xingxing, come here, Grandpa has a few words to say to you."

Qiao Xing quickly sat down. "Grandpa, please speak."

The old man pondered for a moment and said, "Xingxing, Xiaoce is indeed a bit clueless when it comes to relationships, but he is still a very good person. If you get along well with him, Grandpa will not harm you."

Qiao Xing nodded. "I know."

"Well, you've been together for so long, you should have a good understanding of his character. You two should try to make it work. It's okay to be slow to understand things; you can learn. He'll understand everything eventually."

Qiao Xing's expression became somewhat unnatural again, and she guiltily hummed in agreement, "Okay."

The old man thought she was bothered by Qin Ce's liking for men, so he said earnestly, "Xingxing, Xiao Ce... is a normal man, you believe Grandpa, right?"

Qiao Xing's face began to betray her unease. Yang Han had already told her about this that afternoon, and now the old man was bringing it up again.

Coincidentally, she almost thought they had planned it in advance.

The old man said, "Grandpa would never harm you. You've known Grandpa for so long, do you think Grandpa is the kind of heartless person?"

Qiao Xing was stunned for a moment, then quickly shook her head, "Grandpa, I believe you, please don't say that."

"I'm glad you believe me. I was worried because this kid was ignoring you, so I came to check on him."

"But I'm not worried now. Grandpa has done everything he could. The rest is up to you to figure things out yourselves."

Qiao Xing didn't know what to say.

Qin Ce brought the takeout up, and the two of them automatically ended the conversation.

After finishing his meal, the old man went back to his room by himself. He did this every night, eating his meal and then going back to his room so as not to disturb the two of them.

After Qiao Xing finished clearing the table, she put the trash into bags.

Qin Ce took the trash bag from her hand. "I'll go throw it away."

Qiao Xing didn't argue with him. She took the plates from the table to the kitchen to wash them. The grandfather and grandson were particular about their meals; even takeout had to be poured onto a plate before eating.

Qiao Xing washed the dishes twice tonight.

After she came out, she saw Qin Ce taking water from the refrigerator again, so she immediately ran over and grabbed his arm.

"etc."

Qin Ce glanced at her. "What's wrong?"

He thought she wanted a drink, so he unscrewed the cap and handed it to her.

Qiao Xing shook her head. "I won't drink it, and you shouldn't either. Just drink hot water."

Qin Ce stared at her without saying a word for a long time.

Qiao Xing took the water from his hand, screwed the cap back on, and closed the refrigerator. She went to the kitchen, grabbed a cup, filled it with warm water, and handed it to him.

Qin Ce looked at her suspiciously, took the water glass from her hand, and asked, "What's wrong?"

Qiao Xing felt guilty and didn't dare to look at his face. "Drinking ice water late at night is bad for your health, especially in such cold weather. Since we're back in China, let's do as the locals do."

Qin Ce was skeptical, but still gave her face and drank some water from his cup. "Okay."

Qiao Xing felt a little embarrassed by his gaze, so she scratched her neck and said, "I'm going to take a shower."

After saying that, she ran into the bedroom, grabbed her pajamas, and went to the bathroom.

When Qiao Xing came out, she suddenly heard a lighter clicking. She looked up and saw Qin Ce lighting a cigarette on the balcony.

She ran over again, and before Qin Ce could even put the cigarette in his mouth, Qiao Xing grabbed his arm, staring at him nervously, "You, you shouldn't smoke."
