Side Story 9: How is she?

Side Story 9: How is she?

“I think so too, but seeing you in person, I think your grandmother probably wasn’t lying, but…”

She swallowed the words that were on the tip of her tongue, and asked Bai Lin again, "What do you do for a living?"

Bai Lin said, "I help with some household chores, I don't know if that counts as a job."

"Oh, I know. Your grandma said your family owns a restaurant, a hot pot restaurant, right?"

Bai Lin nodded slightly, "More or less."

His words made the girl frown slightly. Clearly, in her opinion, Bai Lin's words were just to obscure his job, because his actual job was not impressive.

It's no wonder she overthinks things; it's because Bai Lin is very attractive, but he's already thirty-one and still not married.

There's definitely something wrong.

"With your qualities, why do you still need to go on blind dates?"

Bai Lin countered, "You're not bad-looking either, aren't you going on blind dates too?"

The girl was embarrassed by his praise, but she couldn't help but complain, "I can't help it, I've only met some weirdos. I'm planning to live alone forever, but my family is pressuring me too much."

"Moreover, I think what people say online is true: good men are not readily available. I've been on so many dates, and all the ones I've met are ugly and unattractive."

"You know what? Last time I met someone who only makes 5,000 a month, he started lecturing me on life philosophy as soon as he arrived. If you didn't know better, you'd think he was my dad."

"There's another one. He smokes and drinks, and then he came up to me and asked if I smoke. He doesn't like girls who smoke."

"Another one is short and ugly, but just because I earn 18,000 yuan a month, he complains that I'm too short, saying it will affect the child's genes. What else is this but a weirdo?"

Bai Lin listened quietly without offering any opinions. After she finished complaining about more than a dozen blind date partners, Bai Lin simply smiled slightly.

So she asked Bai Lin again, "How many dates have you had?"

"You're the only one right now."

"No way?" The girl's mouth dropped open in surprise, then she quickly realized, "I know, did you have a girlfriend before but you broke up with her, and that's why you're here for a blind date?"

Bai Lin shook his head. "No."

The girl looked him up and down. "I don't believe you. Never been in a relationship? If you say you've never been in a relationship, then I think you're being a bit fake."

Bai Lin chuckled, "What, do you think that you have to have been in a relationship to be considered authentic?"

"If the person sitting across from me were a fat, nerdy guy, I'd be sure you'd never been in a relationship. But you're handsome, and your personality seems fine. Who would believe you've never been in a relationship?"

Bai Lin sighed helplessly, "Alright, I really haven't talked about it. If you think I'm being too fake, then I don't think there's any need to continue this conversation."

The girl paused, a hint of anxiety on her face. "Wait, I was just saying, why are you in such a hurry?"

In her past blind dates, none of the men she went on dates with were dissatisfied with her, including the man who cost 18,000 yuan mentioned earlier.

This was the first time she had felt rejected by the man opposite her, and she couldn't help but feel a little frustrated.

Whether the blind date is successful or not, the other person must be attracted to you.

Bai Lin asked, "Is there anything else you want to know?"

"I don't know much about you yet. What do you usually like to do? Do you have any hobbies?"

Bai Lin pondered for a moment, "I'm usually quite busy and don't have any particular hobbies. When I have time, I go to the gym or go hiking."

"If you count it as a hobby, I like playing video games, so I spend most of my time at home and don't go out shopping much, which is different from other girls."

I don't know anything about luxury brands. A friend once showed off her bag to me, but I'd never even heard of it. For me, buying a better graphics card would be more appealing.

Qin Anning pursed her lips. If there was nothing wrong with what she said in the previous chat, then the sentence "I am different from other girls" made Qin Anning want to roll her eyes.

The girl's words made her feel like a peacock displaying its plumage, both openly and subtly showing off.

She uses what she thinks is special to show off and be different from other girls, but what makes her different in the end?

She's not one to pretend, she just does it subtly, and most people wouldn't notice from her previous statements.

Bai Lin didn't show it on his face, and asked her, "Your computer configuration must be very good. Did you build it yourself?"

A smug glint flashed in the girl's eyes. "Of course, I have too many games on my computer. Without a better computer, many games can't run smoothly."

"Do you play games? I can teach you how to play. I'm pretty good at a lot of them. Even if our blind date doesn't work out, we can still play games together in the future."

"Sorry, I don't play games."

"That's a real shame. I'm actually quite interested in hiking, so we can go together sometime."

As the girl spoke, she sighed again, "If I weren't such a homebody, I wouldn't have ended up having to go on blind dates."

Bai Lin suddenly became curious, "You play games all day, don't you have to go to work?"

The girl laughed and said, "Playing games is like going to work. I'm a gaming blogger. I update game videos and do live streams. It's my hobby and my job."

"You're really amazing. Very few game bloggers can stick with it."

"I can't help it, I'm socially anxious, I don't want to go to work, and I already earn enough money to live on."

She asked Bai Lin, "How much do you earn? Since this is a blind date, let's talk openly. There's no need to hide anything. I can earn more than 10,000 a month at most, and 3,000 or 4,000 at least. Who knows what will happen in the future? What if I become famous someday?"

Bai Lin pondered for a moment, considering whether to tell the truth or be more modest.

To be honest would make him seem like he's bragging, but to say less would make him seem dishonest. Regardless of what kind of girl he is, she is honest in her words.

"Do I even need to think about that? You really are a dishonest person." The girl shrugged, picked up her phone and glanced at it. "Let's chat on the phone, I have to go back and edit the video."

Bai Lin nodded, "Okay."

The girl stood up and left.

Qin Anning quickly stood up and sat down opposite Bai Lin. "Cousin, what do you think of her?"

Bai Lin was taken aback. "Why are you here?"

"Just curious, huh? Come see what your blind date looks like. Tell me, do you like her? You're not getting married anytime soon, are you?"

Bai Lin twitched the corner of his mouth. "Don't be so gossipy. We've only just met, how could you be married already?"

"Isn't it standard procedure to get married right after a blind date?"

"You've been listening to your aunt and the others chat too much."

Qin Anning grinned. "I don't care. Then tell me, how do you feel about her?"

"I don't feel anything."

"So you didn't like her?"

Bai Lin frowned slightly and fell silent.

After a moment, he hesitated and said, "This is my first blind date, and I don't really understand what it means to like someone or not like them."
