Why are you crying in Chapter 84?

Why are you crying in Chapter 84?

Qiao Xing didn't know how long he would drive, so he went to bed.

Around midnight, Qiao Xing was awakened by noises outside.

She rubbed her eyes, opened them, and saw that the bedroom light was still on. Qin Ce was still wearing his headphones, but he wasn't in a meeting; he was doing something else.

Qiao Xing ignored him, picked up her coat, put it on, and walked out of the bedroom. As soon as she opened the door, she saw Wang Ye dragging Lily back.

"You're so annoying, can you just leave me alone!" Lily broke free from Wang Ye's hand and slumped onto the sofa; she seemed to have drunk too much.

Wang Ye, barely suppressing his anger, said, "You've been hugging and kissing those men, and you expect me to ignore you? Do you really think I'm a cuckold?"

"Can you please not be so rude? It was just a hug, nothing else, is it really that big of a deal?"

Wang Ye was amused by her words, "Hu Lili, we're getting married soon! It's one thing for you to go out drinking and clubbing, but you're also hugging and kissing other men. Do you think that's appropriate?"

Lily rolled her eyes at him. "What's inappropriate about it? I already said it was just a hug, nothing else. Can you stop making a mountain out of a molehill?"

"I'm making a mountain out of a molehill? I'm out there running around every day, and you're out drinking with other men. So, you're just going to get married by yourself?"

"Alright, Wang Ye, what are you yelling about? With my looks and qualifications, what kind of man can't I find? There are plenty of men better than you!"

"I married you because I thought highly of you, it was a stroke of good luck for your ancestors! Since you don't trust me, why did you marry me in the first place?"

Lily rattled off a whole bunch of things, leaving Wang Ye no chance to get a word in edgewise. He glared at Lily angrily, veins throbbing on his forehead.

An invisible tension filled the living room, and Qiao Xing dared not go out, fearing that she would be caught in the crossfire.

Wang Ye's temper flared up, and he grabbed a water glass from the table and threw it at Lily.

It didn't hit Lily, but rather landed at her feet, shattering the blanket into pieces. Lily screamed in fright and curled up on the sofa.

"You fucking bastard, that's enough! You promised me you wouldn't go to bars, and what happened? While I was in jail, you didn't come to see me once. You went clubbing with random guys instead. And now you're openly going, aren't you?"

"You took the bride price and wanted to break up with me, fine, so I agreed, right? Now you've come back and are telling me you're testing me, Hu Lili, do you think I'm a sucker?"

Wang Ye wasn't stupid. Couldn't he sense whether Lily had feelings for him or not?

But this person is just perverse; the more the other person ignores them, the more they like them.

Lily repeatedly challenged his bottom line, and even if he still liked her, she had worn it all down!

Lily was still in shock. She stared blankly at the shards of glass at her feet for a while, and then she sobered up considerably.

She swallowed hard, her face pale as she glanced at Wang Ye, before finally remembering her true purpose.

Lily pursed her lips; she had a knack for dealing with men.

After she regained her senses, she stopped arguing with Wang Ye, buried her head in her knees, and began to sob softly.

Wang Ye was stunned. Looking at Lily's trembling shoulders, his anger seemed to be extinguished by a bucket of water.

He suddenly felt a little flustered, opened his mouth but didn't know what to say.

Finally, after hesitating for a long time, he managed to utter a few words, "Why are you crying?"

The anger from before was gone, replaced by a deep lack of confidence.

Lily ignored him and cried alone for a while before she raised her head and looked at Wang Ye with tears streaming down her face.

"Wang Ye, don't you know why I'm crying? It was wrong of me to go out drinking, but what hurts me even more is that you don't trust me."

Wang Ye's mind went blank for a moment, "You...I...you've been hugging another man, how can I still trust you?"

"I already said, it was just a friendly hug. Wang Ye, ask yourself honestly, what do you have now? No money, no house, and I'm still willing to marry you. What am I after?"

Wang Ye's expression was somewhat unnatural; indeed, this was his death acupoint.

He has nothing now, and Lily shouldn't risk her entire life's happiness just to cheat on him.

The anger on Wang Ye's face gradually disappeared, and he suddenly fell silent.

Seeing this, Lily immediately switched from defense to offense, "We don't even have the most basic trust between us, Wang Ye, do you think this marriage is still worthwhile?"

"You..." Wang Ye couldn't argue with her and didn't know how to respond.

"Wang Ye, just tell me, do you still want to get married?" Lily asked again.

"I...I don't know." Wang Ye lowered his head in frustration. He was extremely annoyed, his mind was a complete mess, and even thinking was difficult.

"Don't know?" Lily sighed, then suddenly stood up and dropped a bombshell, "If you don't know, then think about it carefully. Tonight, a very good friend of mine invited me out. I wanted to ask him to arrange a job for you, so I went."

Wang Ye suddenly looked up, "Are you serious?"

“Of course it’s true. You can call and ask if you don’t believe me.” Lily picked up her bag and turned to leave.

Wang Ye grabbed her wrist. "Lily, if it's really as you say, I apologize!"

Lily glanced at him sideways. "You believe me now?"

"I trust you."

Since Lily said that, does it matter whether he believes her or not?

She actually arranged a job for him, which was like rubbing Wang Ye's dignity into the ground. He, a grown man, actually asked his girlfriend to go drinking with other people to find a job.

Regardless of whether what she said was true or not, these words made Wang Ye feel more humiliated than ever before.

What can such a spineless man ask of Lily?

He wants to be a virtuous wife and loving mother like other women? Does he deserve it?

A hint of smugness flashed in Lily's eyes, but she hid it well. She took Wang Ye's arm and said, "Let's just let tonight's matter rest, and pretend it never happened, okay?"

Wang Ye nodded, glanced at her with a complicated expression, and softened his tone considerably, "Go take a shower first, and go to bed early."

Seeing that the two did not start fighting, Qiao Xing finally relented and retreated to her bedroom.

She closed the door and turned her head to see Qin Ce leaning against the wall, staring at her with a half-smile.

Qiao Xing was startled. "When did you get here?"

"When they argue."

Qiao Xing opened her mouth in surprise, realizing she had been so focused on watching that she hadn't even noticed him standing behind her.

I didn't expect him to be so gossipy; he actually stood there watching people argue.

Qiao Xing locked the door from the inside. She scratched her head and asked, somewhat puzzled, "Why do I feel like something's off, but I can't quite put my finger on it?"

Qin Ce said calmly, "Because your cousin has been brainwashed by Lily."

"What?" Qiao Xing looked at him, puzzled. "What do you mean?"
