Chapter 149 My Aunt is a Bit Willful

“Old man, even though you don’t say some things, I can still guess. No matter what, wherever you are, I will be there,” Aunt buried her head and raised her hand to wipe away her tears.

“Old woman, you’re not that old anymore, don’t be so willful. This is not something you can interfere with.” As he said this, the uncle turned his head to one side and quietly swallowed the phlegm in his throat.

"You shouldn't..." Auntie wanted to say something more. Just then, there was a knock on the door, followed by Wan'er's familiar soft call, "Uncle, Auntie!"

"Child, come in quickly, the door is open." The aunt lowered her tear-soaked sleeve, looked up, and called out to the door before turning and walking towards the cupboard…

With a creak, the door opened, and a gust of cold wind blew in as two people and a cat entered the house. "Uncle and Aunt, it's so late, aren't you asleep yet?"

"We've been waiting for you!" Uncle took another drag of his cigarette and exhaled a smoke ring.

"Waiting for us? You didn't call, how did you know?" Wan'er was taken aback. As she entered the room, she looked at her uncle, trying to glean something from his sharp eyes.

“Your great-uncle said he can’t sleep tonight, and his eyelids keep twitching. There might be important guests coming, so he said he won’t sleep before midnight. I’ve been staying here with him and waiting.” Auntie ladled out two bowls of rice and glanced at Shuixing next to Wan’er. Shuixing’s eyes were clear, and her behavior was upright. She seemed to have lost her previous idiocy.

His aunt seemed unsurprised by his change, saying, "You must be hungry after walking for so long. This is some freshly made cured meat. Try it and see how it tastes."

"It smells so good! I'm actually quite hungry. Thank you, Uncle and Aunt." Wan'er took the bowl and chopsticks without hesitation and sat down on the chair next to the charcoal brazier...

Today, my third uncle's gaze was calm, as if he were somewhat different from usual.

Mercury silently chewed on a piece of cured meat, while his other hand, hidden at the bottom of the bowl, secretly flipped its palm. A flash of inspiration appeared in his palm, and he pushed it towards his uncle across from him...

Uncle lowered his head slightly and puffed on his pipe, seemingly calm, but actually pointing one end of the pipe directly at the spiritual light.

A wisp of water magically stopped between the two, unable to move forward any further.

After a brief standoff, the two men looked up almost simultaneously, their strength dissipating at the same time.

With a "splash!" a few drops of water fell from the air onto the edge of the charcoal brazier...

"So you're a member of the aquatic tribe too!" Mercury's words cleared up Wan'er's doubts.

“Yes, for my wife, I abandoned everything of the Water Tribe and always considered myself a normal human being. But now, the Water Tribe has reached its end, and I can no longer remain silent.” As he said this, the uncle sighed.

Wan'er, who had been silently watching all this, suddenly had tears in her eyes. "No wonder I felt a special sense of closeness to my uncle and aunt."

So you're all family. The civet cat's nose inexplicably got wet.

"Burp!" Wan'er let out a burp, put down her bowl, and nodded to her uncle and aunt. "Now that things are out in the open, I won't hide anything anymore. We have something to ask Uncle..."

“The kind of people you’re talking about do exist, but they are elusive and secretive, and they don’t easily reveal their abilities. You can’t tell anything unusual about them from their appearance,” Uncle’s brows furrowed tightly after Wan’er finished speaking. “In my decades of human life, I think I’ve heard of such a person before.”
