Sasha retreated step by step, tears streaming down her face. The disgust deep in her eyes gradually turned into incomprehension, and then into despair. "I misjudged you. This is your true nature."
"Sasha, that's not how it is." Zhuoyue wanted to explain, but Sasha suddenly turned around, pushed aside the crowd blocking her way, covered her mouth with her hand, and ran towards the left-hand road with her slightly plump body hunched over.
It's over. Sasha no longer believes herself. Zhuoyue slumped to the ground, staring blankly in the direction Sasha had left.
More and more people gathered around.
"But why would Lord Zhuoyue kill Ziyun?" A man beside him shook his head, completely baffled. "The lord has always been fair and impartial, and has never killed anyone before. How could he possibly lay a hand on a mere woman..."
Upon hearing this, the noisy crowd immediately fell silent. Everyone looked at each other, unsure of what to do.
“Yes, it wasn’t Lord Zhuoyue who did it, we believe him.” Although her companions still had tears on their faces, Bai He and Bi Yu stepped forward and stood in front of Zhuoyue to protect them. Their eyes were clear and bright.
"Little brats, don't think I don't know. You're with Zhuoyue, humph!" Firebird walked over with a sinister smile. He pointed at Baihe and said, "Don't think I don't know you. When he first arrived, he was all over you little vixens, pulling and tugging at each other. In the main hall, you even dared to flirt with each other. I think it was Ziyun who angered Zhuoyue."
Firebird's pointed chin trembled, and the sinister look in its eyes grew even stronger.
"What nonsense are you talking about?" Bai He raised her chin in anger, stomping her foot as tears streamed down her face. "You're a bad person."
“That’s right, you bad guy! It was you who plotted this! You’re the one who framed Lord Zhuoyue!” Biyu chimed in.
“This was witnessed by everyone. It’s obvious who killed Ziyun. You’re just making false accusations. You have no evidence, yet you dare to talk nonsense…” Baihe Biyu’s words instantly angered the firebird. Suddenly, it leaped upwards, stretched out its long, sharp beak, and was about to peck Baihe Biyu.
"Shut up! Demon!" A gleaming, cold blade slashed down. "Clang!" The firebird's beak struck the blade, producing a crisp sound.
It was Zhuoyue! Zhuoyue stood in front of Baihe, glaring angrily at the firebird, "At your age, you, you're bullying a young girl."
"Zhuoyue, stop pretending to be righteous. I advise you to confess your guilt. You killed someone, so don't try to get away with it." Firebird turned around and returned to human form. His crimson eyes looked at Zhuoyue, his eyes filled with both coldness and smugness.
"You're spouting nonsense! I'll never let you get away with this today!" Zhuoyue, unable to contain his anger any longer, turned red in the face and brandished his knife, slashing at the firebird.
With a muffled thud, several red feathers were severed by the sharp blade and flew through the air...
"You really want to kill me!" The firebird jumped back, deliberately widening its terrified eyes as it looked at Zhuo Yue, who was now furiously lunging at it...
In an instant, on the stone steps in front of the hall, two figures, one in red and one in white, spun rapidly, quickly merging together, accompanied by a series of crackling sounds...
"Lord Excellent."
"Lord Firebird!" The crowd scurried left and right, shouting and making a ruckus, but dared not get too close, only following behind and loudly advising against it.
"Whoosh..." A plume of black smoke emerged from inside the main hall and came out from the entrance.
