Tian Tian looked at the large crab struggling in her hand, its feathers barely visible on its back. Finally, Tian Tian sighed, bent down, and said, "Alright, it's my fault. I'll let it go then."
Tian Tian let go and, with a "splash!", put the crab into the clear water, creating a shallow ripple.
The crab relaxed immediately. It stopped baring its claws and instead frantically clawed at the grass, hiding behind its large pincers. But just two seconds later, it poked its head out again, revealing only its tiny eyes. It tilted its head to look at the pair of lovers still watching it nearby. Once it was sure that their gazes were gentle and that there was no danger, it emerged from the grass again, using its long, thin legs to wriggle out sideways...
At this moment, the large crab seemed to understand human nature, taking one step at a time and looking back as it slowly swam downstream into the deeper part of the stream...
This unique walking posture left the boy and girl somewhat stunned.
"It's getting dark, let's go back." Only after the giant crab disappeared did Tian Tian finally breathe a sigh of relief. He looked up at the sky, took the girl's hand, and pulled her from the stream onto the grassy bank. Once they were standing still...
He then squatted down, picked up a pair of embroidered shoes from the grass, and pulled the little girl onto his right lap. With practiced ease, he slipped the pretty red embroidered shoes onto the girl's fair feet. Only then did he straighten up, take the girl's hand, and walk towards the dry grass beside him...
"Brother Tiantian, you're so kind." Wan'er tilted her head to her left and looked up. Her clear eyes were filled with the boy's handsome face.
"Who told you to be so cute?" The boy smiled, reached out his other free hand, turned slightly to the side, and affectionately patted the girl's head. "Hurry up and go back, otherwise your parents will scold you again."
"I'm not afraid of their scolding," Wan'er chuckled, lifting her foot to run off.
"Gurgle, gurgle!" Just then, her ears twitched, and she heard a strange sound coming from the tree stump next to her.
The tree stump was dark black, about two feet tall, and about the size of a washbasin. It had been rained on, and the stump was dark in color with a crack in the middle, about two inches long and oval in shape.
"Help me!" A faint cry for help came from the dark tree hollow, but how could such a small tree hollow possibly contain a person's figure?
Had they misheard? The two children were startled. They exchanged a glance, then cautiously leaned forward to look into the tree hollow. The hollow was deep and dark, seemingly bottomless, yet upon closer inspection, a faint light could be seen.
"Help me!" The voice was weak and faint.
"Hello, who are you? Are you calling for help?" Wan'er's voice was slightly surprised.
"I'm trapped, can you save me?" This time it was clear; a still faint voice flowed clearly from the tree hole.
"Okay, we'll save you right away." Hearing this voice, Wan'er nodded, showing no fear of the slippery black hole, and reached out to extend her arm into the tree hole.
"No!" Tian Tian grabbed her small hand, her clear eyes looking at Wan'er. "Let me do it,"
Cough cough! Tian Tian coughed twice, then withdrew her outstretched hand and asked the tree hollow, "Tell me, how do you want us to save you? Tell me honestly, are you a dangerous animal?"
"I, I'm just a little turtle. All you need to do is break this tree stump and I can get out."
