"Bang!" A loud noise came from outside the window, startling everyone in the room.
"What happened?" Having just finished their noodles, they stood up one after another, almost simultaneously looking up.
Mercury was the first to run to the window, and Mo Tian meowed and jumped into Wan'er's arms.
Wan'er wanted to move forward, but Mo Tian seemed a little restless. He stood up with his slender little body, holding Wan'er with one of his left front paws, while pulling backward with his other front paw, and kept meowing loudly, signaling Wan'er not to move forward.
"What are you worried about? It's alright," Wan'er stopped, shook her head and smiled bitterly. To comfort Mo Tian, she reached out and touched his head, signaling him to calm down.
While finding it amusing, Wan'er also felt a pang of sadness. This guy used to be so bold and fearless, how come he's become so cautious and timid now...
Alas! It must be because of the serious injury.
Thinking of this, Wan'er felt even more saddened and couldn't help but sigh, wondering when he would be able to regain his handsome and dignified appearance.
“I noticed something strange today. It’s much brighter outside the window, and the dark mist that used to linger there is gone,” Mercury told her without turning around, knowing Wan’er was behind him. After a moment, he turned around and looked at Wan’er. “I heard that this land has been acquired and is going to be redeveloped…”
"No wonder there was such a loud noise just now; the excavator must have knocked down a wall." Wan'er breathed a sigh of relief.
“Something’s been strange lately. The house where Su Mei and the others lived, and everything else, is gone. It’s like that place was originally a ruin.” Mercury told Wan’er what she had found out the day before yesterday, and nodded thoughtfully. “It must be that the land was transformed, which broke their barrier, and they couldn’t stay there anymore.”
“Really? That’s possible. However,” Wan’er lowered her eyes, looked down at Mo Tian in her arms, and turned to walk towards the living room, “bad guys won’t give up so easily. We have to be wary of him using even more insidious tricks. How about this, I’ll go downstairs and take a look.”
"Meow!" Hearing Wan'er say that, the blue cat on Wan'er's arm excitedly wagged its tail and looked up at Wan'er.
"What's going on? You want to come with me too?" Wan'er seemed to have guessed what Mo Tian meant.
"Wan'er, why don't I go with you?" Mercury's expression was somewhat grave. "After all, the current situation is still unclear."
"No, I want some peace and quiet. None of you need to come with me." Wan'er walked to the sofa, bent down, and reached out to put Mo Tian on the sofa. However, this guy did not let go of Wan'er at all. He just kept his body suspended in the air and his limbs were tightly wrapped around Wan'er's arms.
"Listen to me, you haven't fully recovered yet, so rest at home." Wan'er seemed to understand what Mo Tian meant, but she disagreed.
"Meow!" Mo Tian objected. "Hmph, I have a keen sense of smell; I might even be able to help. With me here, there's nothing to fear. Hmph, if you don't let me go, I'll sneak off myself."
"Wan'er, let him go. He might actually be of help. I think this kid is completely devoted to you. If you don't take him with you, he might cause even more trouble. I feel quite at ease having him by my side, and I don't have to worry about you." The changed Mercury no longer rejected Mo Tian, but instead found him amusing. So she reached out and pointed to Wan'er's arm. "Besides, I'm afraid you can't get rid of him now anyway."
