"Please make way, I'm his colleague..." Wan'er gritted her teeth and stepped closer. Some people heard what Wan'er said and began to make way. Finally, Wan'er held onto the bridge railing and stood at the gap.
A gust of river wind blew by, carrying with it a strong smell of alcohol that instantly assaulted Wan'er's senses.
His right hand, hanging limply to his side, clutched a nearly empty wine bottle. This guy had indeed been drinking; no wonder he was out of control and behaving unlike usual. But since things had already come to this point, he had to be persuaded to go home first; everything else would have to be decided later.
A thick cotton coat was draped over his shoulders, and Liu Chang'an's figure appeared lonely and dejected. He sobbed softly, wiping away a tear.
"Liu Chang'an! You come back here right now!" Seeing this man's absurd behavior, Wan'er was both shocked and angry, so she shouted sharply.
Upon hearing this shout, as if struck by lightning, Liu Chang'an immediately stopped crying. He slowly turned around, and the wine bottle in his hand plunged into the river. A few seconds later, "Splash!" A splash of water rose from the river.
However, when that face turned to look at Wan'er, Wan'er was clearly taken aback.
Sunken eye sockets, red nose, red cheeks, deep-set cheeks, missing and uneven teeth, and blackish-yellow grime on the front of the mouth.
Only the forehead, and the general outline, seemed somewhat similar.
"You, you really are Liu Chang'an?" Wan'er dared not approach, only hesitantly examining the seemingly familiar face.
It had only been a short time since I'd last seen Liu Chang'an, and he looked increasingly thin, as if he could be blown away by the wind at any moment. I really don't know what he'd been through all this time.
"Ye, Wan'er! I knew it was you, you still care about me." With that turn of his head, Liu Chang'an recognized her at a glance. After a moment of stunned silence, his blinking eyes turned bloodshot, and snot and tears streamed down his face. He tilted his head slightly, sniffed his red nose which was still running, wiped away his tears, and slowly turned around, trying to move his legs.
However, his feet were frozen stiff, and for a moment, he seemed unable to move forward.
There's not much room for tinkering with these small bridge piers.
"Slow down, don't rush, rub your legs first, move around a bit," Wan'er worried that he might fall into the river if he wasn't careful. She held her breath, raised her voice, and reached out her hand to Liu Chang'an.
“No wonder she’s so desperate for him. Who wouldn’t want such a beautiful girl…” A man next to her swallowed hard, his eyes filled with envy. “Beautiful lady, you should take him away. After all, it’s a human life.”
"Such a beautiful girl, it's like a flower stuck in a pond..." The crowd whispered among themselves and retreated.
As everyone stepped back, the gazes that had been fixed on Liu Chang'an shifted and landed on Wan'er.
Insolence! How dare you speak like that? This is my Wan'er, what do you mean by unworthy? As for him, that scumbag, he can forget about it! A spiritual light flickered on Wan'er's shoulder. Mo Tian was a little anxious, but still didn't want others to see him.
At this moment, Wan'er's mind was entirely on Chang'an. As long as she could feel Mo Tian on her shoulder, she wasn't too worried.
Liu Chang'an finally stood up, but he swayed, his face was frighteningly pale, and his eyes were sunken with some blurry pupils, making him look strange.
Wan'er felt a chill run down her spine and couldn't help but gasp. "I'm here, relax!" Sensing Wan'er's tension, Mo Tian reached out and patted her shoulder, quietly comforting her.
