Chapter 89 The Phone Number with Seven Threes

"Really?" Wan'er paused slightly, took a deep breath, and carefully applied the remaining drop of medicine evenly to the old man's back. "Grandpa, you're joking. What's different?"

“I can’t really explain it, but I just find it very pleasing to the eye. However,” Grandpa Xiao’s eyes widened, a glint of light flashing in them, “I always felt that you were destined for great things. How about this, I’ll leave you my phone number. Maybe one day in the future you’ll need me, and that will be my way of repaying your kindness.”

"What gratitude or not, this is my job." Wan'er felt a chill run down her spine when she sensed something strange in Grandpa Xiao's tone.

"Look at me, I'm so old, how can I repay any kindness?" After saying this, Grandpa Xiao seemed to realize his mistake and gave a self-deprecating bitter laugh, and continued, "What I mean is, maybe if this quilt still itches in the future, I might have to look for you again. It would be more convenient if we exchanged phone numbers."

"Oh, okay then." Wan'er nodded, paused with one hand, and took her phone out of her bag. "What's the number?"

“My phone number is simple, seven 3s, a senior citizen’s phone.” Grandpa Xiao closed his eyes again, still pressing one side of his face against the bed. “This number is easy to remember.”

Grandpa spoke softly, and soon after, he fell asleep with his mouth open. The thing is, he didn't ask for Wan'er's phone number.

This Grandpa Xiao is really interesting. Seven threes, there's no need to remember them!

Wan'er shook her head, gave a wry smile, and put her phone back in her bag...

At that moment, a car pulled up in the parking lot of the station not far from the hospital. The car door opened, and Su Mei, wearing a yellow cashmere coat, appeared at the door...

"Xiaoli, why are you so late? I told you to come earlier." Seeing a familiar voice coming from the other side, Su Mei went to greet her, somewhat annoyed.

The girl wore a red silk cotton jacket and simple black pants. She had two long braids on her head and carried a bulging large sack on her shoulder.

"Something came up at home and I had to make sure Mom was taken care of properly." Xiaoli stood in front of Sumei, a head taller than her. She had round, clear eyes, a slightly flat nose, and thin lips. Her skin was bronze, and she had the natural face of a girl next door. When she smiled, a small dimple appeared on her right cheek.

"What's that bag on your shoulder?" Su Mei frowned when she saw the bag on Xiao Li's shoulder.

"These are sweet potatoes, radishes, cabbages, and some local specialties that we grew at home. Mom couldn't finish them all by herself, so I brought them over." Xiaoli raised her hand to tuck a strand of hair that had fallen across her cheek back, gave a sheepish smile, but when she looked at Su Mei, her smile vanished instantly. "Sister, didn't you say you were doing well? Why does your complexion look so sallow? And your eyes seem to be covered with a layer of gray..."

"Look at what you're saying! I just didn't put on makeup. Go back now!" Su Mei rolled her eyes at him, turned around and left, muttering as she went, "Look at you dressed like that, like a country bumpkin who's never been out of the house. It's not right for others to see you like that. Change into my clothes later, and if they're too short, I'll go buy you a few more."

"Sister, no need to buy." Xiaoli followed behind Su Mei, shaking her head and waving her hands as she walked. "We can save the money for Mom. I think my clothes are fine."

"You brat! You think the city is better than the countryside? Packaging, you're a college student, don't you understand?" Su Mei stopped and glared at Xiao Li before turning back to continue walking. "Investing in this will allow you to earn more money."
