"Did I protect him?" Wan'er said dismissively, angrily bending down to pick up the little prince. "Look at him, so petite and delicate, how can he compare to your strong, seven-foot-tall man?"
"Fine, fine, I've learned my lesson. I'm just an outsider in this family, a madwoman." Hearing Wan'er say this, Shui Xing put her hands on her hips, gritted her teeth and nodded angrily, then turned and went into her bedroom, slamming the door shut with a "bang!"
What a grumpy old man! The little prince raised his head and turned to look at Wan'er.
"He's so petty! Little Prince, why don't you try to coax him, since he's my uncle? I know you have a way." Wan'er stuck out her tongue, squatted down, and flicked the little prince's left ear with her finger.
"Alright, leave it to me." "Meow!" The little prince nodded and leaped off Wan'er's back...
The door wasn't locked. Watching the little prince push it open with his front paws and sneak into Mercury's room through the crack, Wan'er finally breathed a sigh of relief and got up to continue tidying the room…
A short while later, the door opened and Mercury came out of the bedroom.
“Wan’er,” Mercury’s expression had calmed down. He was still holding the little prince in his arms. When he saw Wan’er looking at him, Mercury shook his hair that was hanging down his forehead with some embarrassment. “I knew the little prince would find out.”
"Wow, that was fast! You two made up so quickly?" Wan'er teased Shui Xing intentionally, but he didn't seem to care about her words.
Why do I feel so awkward seeing a grown man holding a cat?
"Meow!" Seeing Mercury walk to the sofa, the little prince raised his head and meowed, then leaped onto the sofa.
"Wan'er, listen to me, don't you have a best friend named Su Mei? Does Su Mei have a younger sister?"
“That’s right, her sister’s name is Su Li, I’ve met her before.” Wan’er, who was sweeping by the coffee table, put down the broom and straightened her back.
“The Little Prince just told me this,” Mercury said, settling down at one end of the sofa. “He said he was on the windowsill when he saw Sumi drive back, but she miraculously disappeared behind an old tree. The Little Prince found this strange, so he went down the pipe from the back window and, after some trouble, found the old tree. The tree’s core was hollow, but he couldn’t figure out what it was. Later, he saw his sister carrying trash, also emerging from the hollow of the tree, but this time he was discovered…”
"An ancient tree? The Su Mei sisters?" This was simply unbelievable! Although she had seen many strange things recently and was trying to adapt, Wan'er was still extremely surprised. "Su Mei has indeed been acting very strangely lately. I can't get through to her on the phone these past few days, and I can't find her at her workplace either..."
“There’s something sinister about this woman; she’s highly suspicious,” Mercury said, glancing at the little prince on her right. The little prince nodded and meowed in agreement.
“It seems we need to get to know her better.” Wan’er nodded, and after a moment of thought, she turned to look at the window. The streetlights were already on outside. “I found a shared car to go to the beach. I guess there’s no one left on the shore by now.”
"Okay, let's go right away." Mercury nodded. The two of them and the cat got ready, then opened the door and hurried downstairs, leaving the lights on before they left...
After a half-hour drive, Wan'er slowly brought the car to a stop.
Finally, I can relax and unrestricted at the beach...
