Chapter 292: Escape from Sandstorm

Filled with grief and indignation, everyone followed the four Lin brothers and ran towards Xiling City.

Yang Yihu's vanguard team quickly caught up and surrounded them.

"We are here on the orders of General Yang to invite Lord Xue to the army for a chat." The leading soldier wore a blue helmet and blue armor and held a white spear.

The remaining twenty or so people all held bows and arrows, aiming at Xue Yan and his group.

Everyone drew their weapons and was about to start fighting.

Xue Yan sat upright on his horse and said coldly, "I have no friendship with General Yang, so I'm afraid there's nothing much to talk about!"

"Our general said that now that the female prime minister has passed away, he wants to discuss with Lord Xue how to jointly handle the affairs of the Haoyue Kingdom. As an important official of the northern clan, you must go to the army to attend the meeting and discuss it."

Xue Yan snorted coldly, "You Yang family are so impatient this time, what if I don't go?"

"Then don't blame us for being rude. Except for Mr. Xue and Miss Xue, no one else will be left alive." The soldier waved his hand and ordered the soldiers to shoot arrows directly.

Everyone quickly picked up their weapons and swung them to block the incoming arrows. Song Lin and Li Guan rode their horses to dodge, then rushed forward and swiftly killed several soldiers.

Captain Song protected Xue Yan and quickly blocked the incoming arrows. He broke through the encirclement and turned back to Song Lin, who was in the middle of a fierce battle, saying, "Ah Lin, quickly take them and retreat first. Guard Li and I will stay behind to hold off the pursuers."

Without giving Song Lin any time to hesitate, Captain Song leaped into the air, swung his embroidered spring sword, and beheaded the leading soldier.

"Hurry up and protect the Xue brothers and sisters."

"Uncle, let's go together!" Song Lin refused. Separating at this time would mean more danger than good.

"Hurry up! If we don't leave now, we won't be able to leave." Captain Song wielded his knife and cut down seven or eight people like chopping melons and vegetables. He pulled up the reins and shouted, "Don't worry! I'll come back alive to find you."

"Third brother, quickly send a message to Xiling City and ask the eldest brother to send troops to support us. We will stay and help them." Lin Siyi blew the whistle, and more than a dozen falcons flew from the sky and attacked the Blue Armor Army in an instant.

Soon, the ground was littered with corpses, and only a few horses were lying on the ground, gasping for breath.

Song Lin had already walked away with Xue Yan's team. Captain Song looked at the yellow sand all over the sky, frowned and said to Lin San and Lin Si: "Lin brothers, this is our Haoyue Kingdom's business, and you shouldn't be involved."

He rubbed the blood on the handle of the knife with sand, tore off a piece of cloth, and tied his hand and the knife together, obviously intending to fight to the death with Yang Yihu's troops.

"This desert is full of dangers. The two guards don't know the way and could easily get lost. There's a green area up ahead. We can get some water there and rest temporarily to ambush our pursuers."

Lin San collected four full quivers of arrows, selected four bows, and proposed to ambush the pursuers at the water source.

"Yes, Guard Song, it will take another two days to reach Yanyang Realm. Our eldest brother will come to support us soon after receiving the letter."

Lin Si picked two horses that were not seriously injured and put the dead falcon into the saddle bags.

Captain Song nodded and followed them to the water source.

Until night fell, the four of them retreated as they walked, repelling four or five teams of pursuers. They were so tired that they lay down in the sand, but they were always alert to the movements around them.

The sky gradually darkened, and all the falcons brought by Lin Si had been wiped out and lay neatly on the ground. His saddle bag could no longer hold the falcon corpses.

He sighed slightly, feeling very distressed.

Hunting falcons are more difficult to train than pigeons. They need to be trained from the time they are fledglings until they reach adulthood, and it takes at least two or three years to train them.

It took them a lot of effort to train such a large number of falcons.

Lin San patted his shoulder and said, "Let's find a place to bury it first and bring it back later."

"It's too late to bury them. Let's go. More people are coming. It sounds like there are at least a hundred of them." Captain Song quickly got on his horse and urged everyone to evacuate.

Under the hazy sky, they saw a row of cavalrymen galloping towards them. Soon, they found something wrong.

The cavalry behind them suddenly flew into the sky, and the dark yellow sand was like a huge wall, pressing towards them rapidly. The cavalry chasing them were already swallowed up by the wall of dancing yellow sand.

"It's a sandstorm, run!" Lin San quickly cut off Lin Si's saddle bag with a knife, allowing him to abandon the corpses of the falcons and escape from the rolling sandstorm.

The strong wind blew up the sand and stones to form a series of colliding and swimming earth dragons. The falcon's body was quickly swallowed up by the tornado and was swept into the sky along with the yellow sand and gravel, as if it was flying again.

The exhausted horses were ultimately unable to outrun the roaring hurricane, and the four were quickly engulfed in the sandstorm.

Captain Song felt that everything in front of him was as dark as night, and the strong wind blew up the broken sand and stones, hitting his body like raindrops. He tried to call the other three people, but he couldn't open his mouth at all.

The howling gale threw all the sand animals high into the sky, and a giant dragon made of yellow sand rolled and swallowed everything on the ground, as if it wanted to tear everything into pieces.

After the strong wind passed, everything returned to calm, leaving only the rippled sand dunes, rising and falling, stretching as far as the eye can see.

After Shen Xu and Pei Zhiyuan met up with Wang Shi's army in Jiangling, they immediately received news that Yang Yihu's army had suffered an unprecedented sandstorm in the desert Gobi and lost thousands of people.

She hurriedly led her men to the desert town where Xue Yan was negotiating. The town had been almost destroyed, and the surrounding area was silent and deserted.

The broken pottery jar was filled with sand, and the scraps of canvas whose base color could not be identified were hanging on the window, all of which spoke of desolation and ruin.

The only remaining door of the post station was half-open, and looking through the door, the room was in a mess.
