Chapter 23: Heartbroken
"Wow! Another fish!" The man lifted the fishing rod, his joy evident in his expression. "Mr. Gu, you picked a good spot. The resources are excellent."
Gu Moyang glanced at the fishing rod that was bent so hard that he said, "No, it's Mr. Zhai who's amazing. It looks like it's a big fish."
Zhai Xi stood up and pulled the line. The fishing line cut through the wind and made a whistling sound. He said excitedly, "It must be quite big."
It took several minutes to pull the fish out of the water. It was an eight-jin carp. Gu Moyang helped him unhook it and put the fish into the water tank.
It can be seen that Zhai Xi was very happy. Accompanying him fishing and catering to his interests seemed to be the right decision.
Gu Moyang, "Congratulations, Mr. Zhai, you caught another big fish."
Zhai Xi glanced at Gu Moyang's empty fishing boat and smiled: "Mr. Gu, you have to work harder, otherwise you will have no fish to eat soon."
Gu Moyang smiled and threw the hook, which formed a perfect parabola and was swallowed by the water. "It's my poor skills, I can't blame others."
As for fishing, Gu Moyang had never tried it before. Fishing, a time-consuming activity, was a luxury for him.
In order to ask Zhai Xi out, learning fishing was a sudden decision.
Zhai Xi tilted his head to glance at the man in a shirt and tie. "Mr. Gu may be constrained by his clothes, but I see his sincerity. I had a great time fishing today. I will consider cooperating with the Heguang Group."
"That's great." Gu Moyang raised his glass of whiskey, and the glass clinked with it, "Then I wish us a happy future cooperation."
Wu Qian came over and whispered a few words into Gu Moyang's ear.
Gu Moyang paused his grip on the fishing rod and shifted his gaze to the white sky across the river. "You mean she's doing all the work by herself?"
Wu Qian bent down and nodded: "Yes."
Wu Qian thought the boss would ask him to do something, but he didn't expect the boss to just stare at the river without saying a word.
He knew that Miss Jiang must be different from other women in the boss's mind.
From sending Miss Jiang home that day to the boss asking him to bring her water today, these actions were too obvious.
"Do you want me to send her some ready-made food?" Wu Qian asked.
Gu Moyang stared at the river with a frown, holding the fishing rod tightly in his hand.
Where had she done this before? As long as he was around, he would do all these things.
Jiang Jibai likes to eat barbecue, but he has many problems with it. He will put onions in it even if he doesn't eat onions, and he will put garlic in it even if he doesn't eat garlic.
When grilling something, you have to put everything in, and when eating, you have to pick out all the garlic, onions, etc. before eating.
Gu Moyang indulged her and helped her bake it, picked out the seasonings and let it cool before giving it to her.
Sometimes Jiang Jibai would pester him and act coquettishly, asking him to feed her mouthful by mouthful.
"No need." Gu Moyang's eyes were heavy, and the veins on his hand holding the fishing rod were exposed. "If she wants to do it, let her do it."
Wu Qian was slightly stunned when he heard this. Why was it different from what he thought?
The boss's thoughts are becoming increasingly difficult to understand.
"The fish has taken the bait!" Zhai Xi reminded.
The float sank into the water instantly. Gu Moyang was stunned for a moment before he quickly picked up the fishing rod in his hand.
Unfortunately, it was still a step too late, and the hook that was pulled up was empty.
Zhai Xi glanced meaningfully at Gu Moyang who was kneading the bait.
"Mr. Gu is still too young. Does he know what is most important in fishing?"
Gu Moyang: "What is it?"
Zhai Xi: "It's about concentrating your mind. If your mind is distracted, you won't be able to catch any fish."

Jiang Jibai put the grilled skewers on a plate and placed it on the table.
Ma Lin frowned as she looked at it. She clicked her tongue several times and said, "Are you sure this black thing is edible?"
"Do you want to poison us?" Zhu Zihan took a closer look and chimed in.
Zheng Qianqian tasted a skewer and immediately started to rant, "It tastes so bad? You wasted all the ingredients! And you even put so much chili powder in it! Didn't I tell you that our little treasure doesn't eat spicy food? Are you trying to kill him with the spicy food?"
Zheng Yuan didn't say anything and sat silently on the outdoor chair, but his silence was also an accomplice.
She had expected that she would do all the work but not get any reward in return.
She didn't expect to hear a good word from them.
It wouldn't be good if the whole company saw them quarreling here, and she might be blamed again.
Jiang Jibai resisted the urge to flip the table: "That's the level, everyone, just make do with it."
Zhu Zihan chuckled: "You're the only one who can eat something this disgusting."
Ma Lin started fanning the flames again: "Sister Qian, look at her, she's clearly doing this on purpose, deliberately trying to make everyone in our group go hungry."
"Okay, Jiang Jibai, you'll just eat that nasty thing you grilled yourself, and don't even think about anything else!"
"There are some ingredients left. One of you can roast it." Zheng Qianqian said.
Zheng Yuan volunteered: "I'll bake it. I'm sure you and Xiaobao will like it."
Ma Lin and Zhu Zihan looked at each other and smiled secretly.
Jiang Jibai rolled her eyes. She just didn't want to stay under the same sky with them, so she took the plate of skewers, dragged a chair and carried her bag to the river to be alone.
The voices of Ma Lin and Zhu Zihan floated over from behind her.
"She's pretending again. I hate it most when she acts so aloof and different from everyone else."
"I really thought I..."
Jiang Jibai put on his headphones to block out the last unfriendly voice in the world.
Walking out of the shadow of the sky and stepping into the sunshine, Jiang Jibai saw the river surface sparkling in the sunlight and heard ethereal singing in his ears. His mood suddenly improved.
There happened to be a tree by the river, so I sat under it to avoid the sun. Opposite me was an endless field of pale pink marigold flowers. The breeze was not dry, and it carried the cool moisture from the river surface, which was very comfortable.
This place is really good for painting.
Jiang Jibai took a few bites of the skewers she had grilled herself. She frowned and quickly put them down. They tasted bland and were too burnt to bite.
The taste is really not good.
Jiang Jibai took out his tablet, already having an image in mind of what he wanted to draw.
Just as he was about to start writing, Jiang Jibai noticed that the figure sitting and fishing on the other side of the river looked familiar.
She hadn't originally associated the man in her mind with the fisherman, so she didn't care.
The river was not wide, so she could see the people on the other side clearly.
She looked carefully and saw that it was Gu Moyang wearing a blue-gray shirt.
Jiang Jibai sighed that Jinghuai River was really small. When he was painting by the river, he might run into his ex-boyfriend who was fishing on the other side.
Gu Moyang was not the only one on the other side of the river. There was also a man fishing with him. In addition, there was a woman sitting next to Gu Moyang.
The woman was Xu Jiaman.
The thought of changing positions flashed through Jiang Jibai's mind, but it was quickly washed away by the calm river water.
This location provides shade and good scenery, so why should she leave?
