Chapter 40 Playing with Fire and Getting Burned

Chapter 40 Playing with Fire and Getting Burned

Jiang Jibai lowered his head slightly and followed Lin Shanshan obediently, getting into the most beautiful pink Beetle on the street.

She was like a lamb to be slaughtered, waiting for Lin Shanshan's "wrath".

Given Lin Shanshan's bad temper, she really wanted to scold her. Such a big thing happened, but she kept it all in her heart. It would be strange if she didn't get sick.

But she is sick.

I was afraid of affecting her mood, so I was so angry but didn't dare to express it.

Lin Shanshan fastened her seatbelt, glanced at Jiang Ji and sighed softly, "Okay, I don't blame you, De Xing!"

The cause of the illness could be linked together: high work pressure and resignation, and she roughly knew what was going on.

Jiang Jibai's eyes curved, "I knew Shanshan was the best."

"I won't ask about the past. If there was any major incident, you must tell me." Lin Shanshan warned.

The car drove into the street and passed through the tall buildings.

Jiang Jibai looked ahead with a dull look in his eyes, "I understand."

"Now that you've quit your job, just focus on your treatment and don't overthink it. Haven't you always wanted to be an independent illustrator? You have plenty of time now to take on commissions and draw."

"But I'm still not sure about the manuscripts I receive." The car stopped at an intersection. Jiang Jibai looked at the people hurrying by on the zebra crossing in front of her. Her voice gradually became lower and lower. "The income is still an unknown."

Lin Shanshan knew her concerns. She was afraid that her current abilities could not support her life.

The red light ahead turned green, and Lin Shanshan stepped on the accelerator. "Baozi, do you really think of us, the Four Beauties of Beijing and Huaihai, as mere decorations?"

"We support you."

Jiang Jibai was stunned for a moment, then turned his head to look at Lin Shanshan's brightly smiling face.

There was joy, excitement, and a hint of uneasiness in his eyes, a complex intertwined emotion.

Lin Shanshan: "Baby, I like the way you look at me. Keep it up, okay?"

There was a hint of the past in her eyes just now, the shadow of the lively Jiang Jibai from before.

"But this isn't free." Lin Shanshan smiled playfully. "Just think of it as us investing in a future independent illustrator who will become famous. Don't forget the Four Beauties of Beijing and Huaihai when you become successful."

Lin Shanshan continued to paint a beautiful picture of the future, "If you really become the boss, you have to leave me a vice president position! Even your future husband is not allowed to compete with me!"

Jiang Jibai laughed, "If I don't even have a man, how can I have a husband?"

Lin Shanshan: "I will, when I become a boss, I'll find a young, younger man to support him. Women should treat themselves better."

As soon as Gu Moyang landed at Heguang Group, Ji An was already blocking him at the door of his office.

Wu Qian followed behind Gu Moyang and looked at Ji An in surprise, "Mr. Ji."

Ji An followed Gu Moyang into the office: "Assistant Wu, please go ahead and do your work. I have something to talk to your CEO Gu about."

Gu Moyang put down the briefcase in his hand and pinched his brows. Something unexpected happened in the overseas branch. He hadn't slept for several days and he hadn't adjusted to the jet lag after just getting off the plane.

Gu Moyang was feeling a little tired at the moment and wanted to lie down on the sofa to have a rest.

He sat in the boss chair and looked up at Ji An, whose expression was hard to describe. If you said he was anxious, he didn't seem that anxious. If you said he was not anxious, he was waiting eagerly at the door of his office.

"You'd better have something bigger than the sky falling."

Ji An: "This isn't a disaster for the company or me, but it is for you."

Gu Moyang was impatient: "What's the matter, tell me."

"That project manager... Jiang Jibai has resigned."

Gu Moyang paused rubbing his brows, and the moment he raised his eyes, his expression darkened. "When did it happen?"

Ji An: "It was the day you went abroad, a week ago."

Gu Moyang sighed softly and put his hands on the table in annoyance: "Why didn't you tell me this earlier? You're telling me now."

"You were already on the plane when I learned the news. I was afraid you would jump out of the plane after you knew it."

Gu Moyang said sternly: "I'm not that crazy."

Ji An crossed out his words in his heart. He would go crazy if anything had to do with Jiang Jibai.

"That's not necessarily true." He muttered softly.

Gu Moyang leaned back in his chair. Behind him were towering buildings stretching as far as the eye could see through the floor-to-ceiling windows. His face was backlit, and his handsome face had a cold expression.

That's pretty good.

Don't want the meat that's right in front of you.

Or maybe you simply don't want what he gives you.

He gripped the armrest tightly, veins popping out on the back of his hand, and his heart seemed to be blocked by something, with a feeling of depression that wouldn't go away.

You're playing with fire now and you're getting burned. No one wants to help you with this project and they don't even want the money you're handing over.

Looking at his expression, Ji An felt that Gu Moyang was a bit pitiful.

He clearly still had her in his heart, but he had to act like he was bitter and resentful, which resulted in both of them being hurt.

He also didn't know why the two of them broke up in the first place. Gu Moyang had always kept silent about this matter. This was Gu Moyang's minefield, so he naturally didn't dare to ask.

He only remembered one day in June of his senior year, when they had finished their graduation defense and were about to go their separate ways.

That night, Gu Moyang returned to the dormitory in a daze. He had never seen Gu Moyang look so half-human, half-ghost. It seemed as if he would fall to pieces if someone touched his hair.

He, Sun Yiran and two other roommates asked him what was wrong, but Gu Moyang said nothing. He seemed as if his soul had been taken away and he didn't say a word the whole night.

The next day he simply said, "Jiang Jibai and I broke up."

On the third day, Gu Moyang went abroad alone and didn't even attend the graduation ceremony.

Ji An went abroad to join him because he could no longer stay in the country. At that time, Gu Moyang had just established Heguang and was in need of people.

I don’t know if it’s because of his failure in love, but Gu Moyang devotes almost all his time and energy to work.

Sometimes even eating and sleeping were luxuries for him. Ji An wondered if he was trying to numb his heart in this way.

He only occasionally heard the three words "Jiang Nuannuan" from Gu Moyang's mouth when he was drunk while accompanying his guests for drinks.

Seeing Gu Moyang's dead look in front of him, Ji An was afraid that he would get into trouble, but he had to ask.

He said slowly, "Then that project..."

Gu Moyang raised his eyes and said in a cold tone: "Switch to a big company, but use the previous design plan."

Ji An: "If that happens, I'm afraid there will be a commotion at Chuxin Design."

"Making a fuss?" Gu Moyang said coldly as he tossed the scrap paper beside him into the wastepaper bin. "The contract clearly states that personnel cannot be replaced without reason during the project, and now everyone has resigned! They were the ones who breached the contract first, so the design plan is their compensation."

"Okay, then I'll go take care of this matter first."

Ji An was about to leave when Gu Moyang stopped him and said, "Go and find out the specific reason why Jiang Jibai resigned."
