Ning Jinyu tilted his head back, rubbed his nose with a tissue, and calmly replied:
"He fell."
The stealthy couple immediately decided against getting any more lubricant.
Chu Chu continued to question:
"How could a fall cause this much damage?"
Ning Jinyu thought for a moment and then nodded, "That means I fell pretty well."
Chu Chu took a deep breath: "You—"
She glanced at the two gleaming light bulbs behind her—how could she, for no reason, ever call someone else a light bulb?
"Come with me," Chu Chu called out to him.
If we're going to talk, we should find a quiet place.
“Okay,” Ning Jinyu replied.
She waved to Lu Yibei and Ji Qingqian behind her, saying, "Goodbye, seniors."
The couple smiled at him like aunts and waved.
Chu Chu walked quickly, but fortunately Ning Jinyu also had long legs and could easily keep up with her.
Just like before, Chu Chu never had to worry about his pace; no matter how fast he wanted to walk, the boy could always catch up.
Having left the place of trouble, Chu Chu slowed down and prepared to speak.
But with so much to say, Chu Chu hesitated for a moment before finally asking, "...When did you get here?"
"today."
"What time is it?"
"It's a little past eight o'clock, and the flight is at six."
"...Six o'clock, so you should be at the airport by three or four o'clock."
"Airfares are cheap."
"oh."
"Um."
"...Why are you with Senior Lu and the others?"
"I ran into him when I was asking for directions... by chance."
"That's quite a coincidence."
"Yes, the senior is a very nice person."
"...That's just your imagination. You'll know how much of a bastard he is once you get to know him."
"Yeah?"
"First time visiting Jiangnan University, this school is pretty good, isn't it?"
"That's good. It's all humid and sticky over there in Zheng Sen's area."
"That's right, look at the weather in Jiangnan..."
The two walked and talked.
They talked about airfares, school, and then about the weather.
Ning Jinyu would agree with whatever Chu Chu said.
Chu Chu felt as if the boy beside her was an old friend who had simply come to play with her.
The two could chat and laugh, reminiscing about the past and discussing their current situations.
It was as if those arguments deep in my memory had never happened, as if a certain part of my life had been deleted.
but.
When they reached a deserted area, Chu Chu stopped in his tracks.
She suddenly choked up:
"--sorry."
Ning Jinyu also stopped.
He could see the girl walking in front of him trembling slightly, and her words were somewhat unclear, as if they carried some kind of sticky, unremovable feeling.
"…sorry."
Chu Chu clenched her fist and repeated, "I'm sorry—"
Even though Ning Jinyu hadn't spoken yet.
Even though he didn't mention it.
But the argument won't disappear completely just because the two of them deliberately ignore it.
What exists has always existed; this is an objective fact.
Ning Jinyu stood silently with his hands tucked into his undergarment.
"Do you regret coming to Jiangnan?"
Hearing Ning Jinyu's question, Chu Chu shook her head vigorously: "No... Although I sometimes think about what would happen if I went to Zheng Sen, if I had to choose again, I would still choose Jiangnan."
Ning Jinyu smiled and said, "That's true, it would be terrible if you regretted it."
He looked at Chu Chu's back and her small, trembling shoulders, which were trembling slightly with a sob in them.
"sorry."
"I'm sorry, I didn't keep my promise..."
"I'm sorry, I can't go to Zhengsen University with you..."
"I'm sorry, but I still feel that Jiangda is a better choice for me."
"…sorry……"
Chu Chu took a deep breath, even making snotty noises as she cried out, "I'm sorry, it was clearly my fault, and I didn't even talk to you properly. I even tried to threaten you into coming to Jiangnan with me—I'm so sorry! Waaaaaahhhhhh—"
When it came to the last one...
Chu Chu finally couldn't hold back any longer and burst into tears. She turned around and faced Ning Jinyu.
People actually look ugly when they cry; "pear blossoms in the rain" is just an artistic embellishment.
But Chu Chu felt that if she apologized but didn't dare to face the other party directly, then such an apology would be far too insincere.
"I...I knew perfectly well that you couldn't come...You must be feeling even worse than me, but I still made demands of you, I...I even argued with you...I shouldn't have argued with you, but I still..."
She cried so hard that her ability to organize her thoughts plummeted.
But Ning Jinyu could still tell.
Like him, Chu Chu and Chu Chu realized the same problem after being separated for half a year.
Ning Jinyu believed that if others heard about her story with Chu Chu, the first thing they would think of was the conflict between ideals and reality.
The so-called "ideal" was for the two of them to go to Zhengsen University together.
The "reality" is that Jiangnan University has higher admission scores and better employment prospects.
As for the final outcome, Chu Chu succumbed to reality and chose Jiang Da.
But in reality, the problems the two faced had little to do with Jiang Da and Zheng Sen.
Ning Jinyu walked up to Chu Chu, raised her hand, and wanted to rub Chu Chu's head.
But after thinking about it, I put it down.
"You're right, you should come to Jiangda University."
