Chapter 156: Laughter

At lunch time, the girls all went to the college cafeteria on the women's side and lined up in an orderly manner to get their meals.

Meng Shuyan stared at the wooden checkered plates the girls were holding, which looked just like the stainless steel ones she knew.

Could it be that the person who founded the girls' school was actually a predecessor who traveled through time?

But even if it was true, she couldn't see it. That was all in the previous dynasty. He would have been over a hundred years old by now and had passed away long ago.

"Why do they eat so little?"

Liu Xianting looked at the girls in front of her and saw that none of them had much rice or vegetables, so she thought they had cat stomachs.

Meng Shuyan looked at the dishes and thought they might not taste good.

"Let's just give it a try first, and then we can serve more if it tastes good."

Liu Xianting decided to listen to Meng Shuyan.

After both of them put the food in their mouths, their expressions froze.

"Yan Yan is lucky she listened to you."

The food in the college is not bad. There is a stewed meat, a stir-fried cabbage, a stir-fried radish, and a bowl of egg drop soup. It is pretty good, but it is not cooked well. It tastes very bad.

Not only Liu Xianting couldn't eat it, but Meng Shuyan couldn't eat it either. However, they would be hungry if they didn't eat, and they couldn't waste food or they would be punished by the teacher.

When I was getting my meal, there was a teacher watching me, and he said so.

The two of them ate a mouthful of rice and a mouthful of soup, rested for two quarters of an hour, and then went back to class. The afternoon class was still about the Thousand Character Classic. After school, the teacher assigned homework, which was to write big characters.

Meng Shuyan felt more and more that this academy was founded by her predecessors, and it felt so familiar.

After school, the carriage went to a street where food was sold. Liu Xianting asked the driver to buy some big meat buns.

She wanted to buy something else but was stopped by Meng Shuyan.

“If you buy too much and are full, will you still have dinner when you get home?

Eat some buns to fill your stomach, and then go home to eat more delicious food."

"That's true."

The two said goodbye at the gate of the general's mansion, agreed to go to school together tomorrow, and then took the royal carriage back to the palace.

Only after returning home did Ning Changbin have time to talk to Meng Shuyan.

"What did you have for lunch, cousin?"

"The school cafeteria, didn't you eat?"

Meng Shuyan watched Ning Changbin finish a meat bun in just a few bites. She probably didn't eat anything for lunch.

"It was so disgusting that I couldn't eat much."

Ning Changbin still seems a little scared when he talks about it now.

"Then didn't the master punish you for not finishing your meal?"

Meng Shuyan was still wondering if the academy didn't dare to punish him because he was the prince's son and treated him differently, when she saw Ning Changbin with a bitter face.

"I was punished. Why not? I was punished to copy a hundred characters."

"Should!"

Meng Shuyan smiled unkindly.

"Cousin, we come back every day now, why don't you bring your two nephews to live in the palace? They are growing up, how can they bear to eat those things!"

Ning Changbin would cry if he thought about having to eat at the academy all day.

"Why don't you come in now that you're back? Come on, tell grandma how school went today?"

The princess had already known that the two children had returned, but she had not entered the house for a long time. She saw the two children talking in the yard.

I felt bad when I learned that the food in the college cafeteria was terrible.

"Yes, you are going to school too. Bring your two nephews to live with you. It will be more lively when there are more people in school. You can also review your lessons and learn calligraphy together after school.

If those two kids were here, your cousin would be more likely to learn.”

This last point is the key point.

Ning Changbin has never wanted to go to school, and everyone in his family knows it.

Meng Shuyan thought about it and it made sense. It wasn't someone else's family, so she agreed on behalf of her family.

I also wanted my two nephews to have a good meal when they returned to the palace in the evening.

When Ning Changbin saw Meng Shuyan nod, he immediately asked the housekeeper to go to the academy to pick them up.

When Meng Liqian and Meng Lihou arrived at the palace with their small bags, dinner was just ready and served.

"Come on, you must be hungry, sit down and eat."

Wang also liked Meng Liqian and Meng Lihou very much, even though they were admitted to Songshan Academy at a young age. If her son played with such good kids, even the dumb ones would learn to be smarter.

So he was very happy to know that the two children came to live in the palace, and he even asked them specifically if they needed anything.

During the meal, he personally picked up food for the two children. Meng Liqian and Meng Lihou were both a little flattered.

But my aunt is here, so only they know what they are thinking. They appear to be calm on the surface, which makes Wang even more satisfied.

For dinner, several children who went to school ate a lot of dishes. Usually they could only eat half of the prepared dishes, but today they ate more than half, and several plates were empty.

The adults all felt heartbroken when they saw the looks on the children's faces.

"The housekeeper will deliver lunch to the academy tomorrow at noon."

The princess was the first to quit.

Children are in the growing stage, so if they don’t eat well, it will be a big problem.

"The college doesn't allow food delivery."

Meng Liqian spoke up, this is also the rule of the academy.

“The food in your academy is so bad, why don’t you send it to your family?

This is too overbearing!"

The princess was very unhappy, and even Wang felt that the academy's rules were a bit inhumane.

"I just won't let you send it."

Ning Changbin inquired about this matter during lunch, otherwise he would have had someone send it away long ago.

"That won't do. Zhen'er, go to the academy tomorrow and ask what's going on. The kids can't get used to the food. If they get skinny from hunger, who's going to be responsible?

I want to see which one is not allowed to send it. It’s okay if it’s not allowed, just make the food to suit the children’s appetite!”

Seeing that her grandmother felt sorry for them, Meng Shuyan did not refute her.

She also wants to eat home-cooked meals.

After dinner, the children all had to do their homework. Wang asked the nanny to take the two younger ones away so that they wouldn’t bother their older sisters and brothers with their homework.
