"General, didn't you say we'd give them a few more days? Doctor Bai said they'd soon develop a cure for the disease. Please, give us two more days. Doctor Bai said it can be cured!"
"Bullshit! I only gave you three days of grace, and three days is already enough, and you bastards are now begging me for mercy with sores all over your face! Get out of here!"
The little leader was very arrogant and kicked the patient who was begging for mercy to the ground: "Take them all away!"
Just as he finished speaking, he was kicked and rolled three meters away, hitting the wall before rolling to the ground.
"ah!"
He screamed and looked up in frustration: "Who dares to kick me?!"
The other imperial guards immediately drew their swords and pointed them at Xie Xianyu.
They were all low-ranking imperial guards and had never seen him before.
Xie Xianyu took two steps closer and looked at the little leader coldly: "Whose orders are you taking?"
The small leader was so shocked by his oppressive aura that he trembled all over. His arrogance automatically subsided. He pursed his lips and tried to bluff: "Of course it's Commander Wang."
Xie Xianyu drew his sword, pointed it at his neck, and asked again, "Whose orders are you following?"
The little leader's eyes were in a panic, his face pale with fear, but he still didn't dare to change his words. He could only insist tremblingly: "It's, it's Commander Wang...ah!"
With a scream, a sword pierced the throat.
Everyone in the hall looked at him in horror. The imperial guards finally realized what was happening and were about to point their swords at him.
Xie Xianyu casually pulled a token from his waist and said coldly, "I am under the order of His Majesty to thoroughly investigate the Imperial Guards. All of you, retreat!"
When the imperial guards saw the token, they recognized who he was. They immediately put away their swords and stepped back, bowing: "Greetings, Sir Xie!"
"Where is Wang Qi?"
"Commander Wang..." The group looked at each other, not daring to say anything more.
Xie Xianyu put away his sword and strode out: "Let's go to the Zhenfu Division."
"yes!"
He paused, glanced at the corpse on the ground, and ordered in a cold voice: "Clean it up."
"yes!"
Wanruo was still waiting at the door when Xie Xianyu came out. "I still have some things to do. If you need anything, please let Qing'an come to me."
Wanruo nodded in surprise: "Okay."
The next day, news came that the young Lord Xie, who was said to be as elegant and graceful as a breeze, had taken over the Zhenfu Division.
After a night of rest, all the imperial guards in the city became obedient. No one dared to wantonly kill the sick civilians. They were comforted and resettled in an orderly manner. The imperial court also sent medical officers to provide special treatment, and the civil unrest was finally quelled.
Wanruo immersed herself in Jinshangtang in developing a prescription to cure the epidemic and had no time to care about anything else.
Xie Xianyu walked into the shop carrying a lunch box. He approached her, his brows slightly furrowed. "Are you planning on ruining yourself?"
Wanruo was preparing medicine in front of the medicine cabinet. She wore a face scarf covering half of her face, leaving only her eyes exposed. However, the dark circles under her eyes showed her fatigue.
She lay on the table, rummaging through the herbs in the medicine bag, taking them one by one with almost precise precision, her brows knitted together. "It's always a little off. I don't know what went wrong."
"Eat first."
As soon as the words fell, a sharp voice came out: "Master Xie!"
Xie Xianyu turned around and saw Zhu Jia riding a horse outside with a group of people. She dismounted and strode in. "Why is Master Xie here?"
Xie Xianyu said calmly, "Come to see my wife."
Zhu Jia then noticed Wanruo and looked at her in surprise. Wanruo was still busy flipping through the medicinal herbs.
Zhu Jia smiled at Xie Xianyu and said, "That's true. I was patrolling the streets. There's a plague raging in the capital, and the Imperial Guards can't handle it, so I'm bringing a team to support them."
Xie Xianyu nodded.
"I heard that the Imperial Guards did nothing before, and it was Lord Xie who personally stepped in to deal with those people from the Zhenfu Division, thus returning peace to the people of the capital. I admire your courage!" Zhu Jia clasped his fists.
"Thank you for the award, General."
Xie Xianyu was a little impatient to deal with it. He turned around to look at Wanruo and pointed at her to help get rid of the crowd.
She was still rummaging through her pile of broken herbs!
