"I want to go see Wanruo."
Ever since the last incident, Wanruo has been locked in her own yard and cannot go in or out.
Since they were engaged, he could get closer to her, so Mr. Xu nodded and let him go meet her.
He came to the small courtyard where she lived, where there were medicinal fields and various medicinal herbs. As soon as he entered, he could smell a faint medicinal fragrance.
"Miss, Mr. Xie is here." As soon as the little maid saw him, she hurried in to inform him.
"No!" Wanruo's voice was muffled.
Xie Xianyu immediately stepped inside: "Why don't you want to see me?"
Wanruo raised her head sharply and glared at him: "Who let you in?"
"We're getting engaged tomorrow, and I'll come see you on my own. I've already told your father that he'll let you out after this day and won't be keeping you locked up anymore."
"I don't want it!" She turned around angrily while sitting on the round stool.
He walked up to her, knelt on one knee, looked up at her and asked, "Why are you angry with me?"
She glared at him: "I became arrogant because I drank the wine you gave me that day!" There was already vigilance in her eyes.
He said softly, "That wine was just ordinary fruit wine. I didn't expect you to have such a low alcohol tolerance. I drank that wine too. If there really was something wrong with it, why didn't I control myself?"
Her eyes froze for a moment, and she stood there for a moment.
"You understand pharmacology, so you should understand that if the wine was really drugged, you wouldn't be able to taste it, and it wouldn't be so easy to eliminate."
Her face was tense and she was silent. She didn't know what the problem was, so she could only sulk.
He looked at her with a pair of dark eyes: "Wanwan, you like me, don't you?"
Wanruo's pupils suddenly dilated, and she immediately stood up and denied it flatly: "I didn't!"
He also stood up, his tall figure looming over her, an invisible oppression coming over her, and she suddenly regretted standing up.
"If you don't like me, why would you want to kiss me just because you're drunk?"
Her eyes began to look guilty and uncertain: "I, I was..."
He approached her: "This shows that deep down you wanted to kiss me, but you were drunk and had the courage to do such a thing."
Her heart was pounding, and she shook her head hurriedly: "No!"
"Why don't you want to admit it? Is it Lin Han?"
He had pushed her to the point where she had no way to retreat, and her lower back hit the edge of the table.
He placed his hands on the edge of the table and held her in front of him: "But Ru'er, you Ru'er are already my fiancée. If you don't like me, why are you blushing? Why are you secretly looking at me? Why are you still feeling guilty at this moment?"
Her palms were covered with sweat and she opened her mouth, not knowing how to answer.
He didn't need her to answer. He whispered in her ear, "Wanwan, you like me. You can't deceive me."
When she raised her eyes, she met his dark eyes, which were like a whirlpool that lured her into falling and made her unable to escape.
He lowered his head and kissed her lips. She froze there, forgetting even to push him away.
He kissed her lips gently, without any impatient demands or scaring her, but just delicately and gently to lure her into it.
But when he raised his eyes and saw the shadowy figure behind the tree outside the window, a cold light flashed in his eyes.
Outside the window, Lin Han stood stiffly in the yard, his face pale. He had wanted to make a last-ditch effort to ask her the truth, but now, he was afraid there was no need to ask anymore.
The next day, Lin Han took the money given by the Xu family, left Lincheng, and went to Beijing to take the exam.
A month later, Xie Xianyu married Wanruo, and the long bridal sedan procession left Lincheng and headed for Yanjing.
When he arrived in Yanjing, the auspicious day had already arrived. The Xie Mansion had already been decorated with lights and colorful lanterns, gongs and drums were beating, and the house was full of guests.
Amidst the noise, Wanruo felt dizzy, wondering if it was because she was too tired from the journey.
The sedan chair landed and a slender jade-like hand stretched out. She lowered her eyes and saw the hand from under the veil. Suddenly, her whole body went numb, as if the scene before her was familiar, and cold sweat broke out on her back.
She was hesitant to extend her hand, and the person outside the sedan had lost his patience. He grabbed her wrist, which was resting on his knee, and pulled her out of the sedan.
"The bride is coming home!" the matchmaker shouted, everyone cheered, firecrackers exploded, and the rumbling sound made her scalp numb.
In a trance, many unfamiliar memories suddenly came to my mind.
After the ceremony was completed and she was sent to the bridal chamber, Xie Xianyu came when it was getting dark and lifted her red veil.
He looked at her tenderly: "Wanwan, we are married."
She looked into his gentle eyes, and suddenly a cold sweat broke out on her back. She avoided his gaze unconsciously: "Oh."
He was slightly startled, then picked up two more wine glasses and handed them to her with a smile: "Let's drink the wine first."
Wanruo stared at the wine glass and swallowed: "Forget it."
"What wedding is complete without wedding wine? Be good and drink it quickly." He coaxed her gently.
She was given goosebumps by his gentle voice, as if he was a big bad wolf coaxing a lamb.
"I don't want to drink!" she refused firmly.
"Why?" he asked her.
Her eyes flickered: "I don't want to drink anyway."
He stared at her for a while, his gentle eyes gradually becoming more serious: "Wanwan, do you remember?"
