Chapter 4: Sore Hands (2/2)

"What are you looking at?"

Xie Xianyu saw that she had been silent for a long time.

She quickly closed the booklet: "I'm looking at the name cards."

Xie Xianyu glanced at the booklet and replied nonchalantly, "The eldest lady sent it over."

She carefully put the booklet aside and asked, "Cousin, do you have a favorite candidate?"

"I'm too lazy to look. Which one do you think is better?"

"How can you ask me this? The future wife of the Xie family must be carefully selected by my cousin."

"So what do you think is a good choice?"

Wan Ruo said respectfully, "I want someone who comes from a famous family, is dignified and respectable, and has unparalleled talent and beauty."

He raised his eyebrows slightly and smiled: "Don't you want to choose someone with a good temper and who will be lenient to you in the future?"

Wan Ruo's eyebrows twitched, and she said seriously, "My cousin, when choosing a wife for the clan, he must have considered the overall situation. The important thing is that the young master likes him, why would he care about these trivial matters?"

Wanruo leaned beside him and hooked his fingers with her little hand: "I don't want Brother Xianyu to worry about me."

Her fingers were soft and they slid across his palm, making it itchy. His throat rolled, and he pinched her hand with his backhand, wrapping her hand in his palm.

"What if you get bullied?"

Wanruo's eyes were clear: "Then Wanruo will behave well, don't make the young lady angry, and don't want to embarrass Brother Xianyu. I will be very satisfied if I can stay by your side for the rest of my life."

Xie Xianyu's heart skipped a beat, and he suddenly felt unable to bear it any longer. He took her hand and pulled her, making her fall onto his lap. He pinched her chin, lifted her head, and kissed her.

He pinched her slender waist with his big hands and crushed her lips hard. His delicate kisses slid along the corner of her lips all the way to her earlobe, and his low and hoarse voice sounded in her ear.

"Wanwan, I won't let you suffer any injustice."

Wanruo opened her eyes, looked past his face, and saw the closed window behind him, then she breathed a sigh of relief.

I won't let myself be wronged.

As the sky gradually darkened, the noise in the house finally died down.

Wanruo was trapped in the quilt, breathing softly, her flushed face sticky with sweat and her hair. The person behind her pulled her into his arms again.

She struggled tiredly: "It's late."

He leaned forward and pressed forward, kissing her lips. She tilted her head and looked at him with misty eyes: "I'm going to leave."

He held her in his arms: "No more today."

She quickly supported his chest: "No, we will be discovered."

"No problem."

She was a little anxious and said quickly, "How can that be? There's a Spring Festival banquet in the mansion tomorrow. I heard that it's to choose a wife for you. If the news gets out..."

"Then take you in early."

Wanruo was suddenly struck by lightning, and her flushed face froze.

Her voice was hoarse: "Young Madam hasn't even entered the house yet, how can my cousin take a concubine first?"

Any family that cares about face would not take a concubine before marrying a wife. At most, they would secretly favor a few maids. If they take a concubine before the wife comes into the house, then their reputation as a playboy will be confirmed.

Not to mention the Xie family's pride, Xie Xianyu is now an official in the court, and he might be reported by those censors.

Xie Xianyu certainly knew the pros and cons of this better than anyone else.

But even if the marriage is discussed now, the Xie family has many rules. It will take at least another half a year to prepare for the wedding and officially get married. He suddenly became impatient to wait.

Maybe it was because he hadn't seen her for three months, but he felt a little regretful when he was in Jiangnan. If he had married her earlier, he could have taken her with him.

He finished the case as quickly as possible, hoping to return to Beijing early, but heavy snow blocked the roads, delaying him for half a month.

Later, he rode back at full speed and saw her in the hall. She was as obedient as before, and she was cautious and didn't even look at him for long. He suddenly felt very uncomfortable.

He wanted to take her into his room in advance so that she could be in front of him every day.

His tone was indifferent, as if he didn't care: "So what if I accept it?"
