Wanruo walked out.
Xie Xianyu's expression was sullen. "Don't come to places like Prince Xuan's Mansion anymore. If you do, play dumb and don't dwell on those messy thoughts all day long."
"When did I think about it?"
Wanruo's words were neither justified nor convincing. How could he know everything?
Seeing her rare guilty conscience, Xie Xianyu pretended to be casual and asked, "Are you still busy in the pharmacy?"
"It's okay."
"Didn't you say you wanted to be a famous doctor who could save lives? Now you're just selling those tonics and medicinal foods to make money all day long?"
Wanruo was a little annoyed: "What's wrong with me making money? Who says that famous doctors who practice medicine and save lives can't be rich! Besides, I am still practicing medicine and saving lives!"
"Who did you save?"
Wan Ruo held her breath and said without thinking, "I just saved a dying man. He had eight knife wounds on his body, one of which was fatal. If it weren't for me, he would be dead by now."
"So you brought him to the shop?"
"Of course I brought him here. Otherwise, with such serious injuries, he would definitely not survive if he stayed in the wilderness." Wanruo gave him a strange look, not knowing what nonsense he was asking.
Xie Xianyu's eyes turned cold. "So, are we sending him off now?"
"Not yet. His injuries are too severe to move. He needs to be observed for a few days. It's best for him to stay in the shop. Besides, he wants a generous reward, a thousand taels of silver for saving my life."
Wanruo said this, unable to hide the happiness in her eyes.
Xie Xianyu looked at her bright smile, the corners of his lips slightly raised.
Wanruo turned her head and met his dark eyes. There was no longer the alienation and indifference as before, but instead a hint of brightness in them, like the first ray of warm sunshine in spring.
She was stunned for a moment, then quickly regained consciousness and looked away, wondering why she had told him so much for no apparent reason.
She clearly said she never wanted to see him again!
She felt a little depressed and immediately said, "I'm leaving first."
Xie Xianyu didn't stop her, only saying, "Don't come to Prince Xuan's Mansion anymore. This place involving the royal family is very treacherous, and any mistake you make could be dangerous."
A thought suddenly flashed through Wanruo's mind: why was he here?
She avoided his gaze and responded, "I know."
She turned to leave, but Xie Xianyu took a step forward, blocking her path. He stared at her with sharp eyes, "Are you hiding something from me?"
"What?"
"You haven't dared to look at me since just now." Xie Xianyu's dark eyes were full of scrutiny. He wondered if she was doing something behind his back again.
He clearly asked Fu Xian to keep an eye on it every day, so could there be any oversight?
She is very cunning, so he has to be on guard against her.
Wanruo, however, was furious as if someone had suddenly stepped on her tail, her voice rising a lot: "When did I dare not look at you!"
He was stunned for a moment. Why did she suddenly get angry?
Wanruo walked away from him in frustration.
Xie Xianyu looked at her back as she walked away quickly, his brows furrowed. She was becoming more and more outrageous now.
-
In Prince Xuan's mansion, Princess Xuan went to her bedroom in a daze.
When she looked up again, her face was already covered with tears: "It's him, it's really him. I've been looking for him for so long, I even thought he was dead..."
Cai Lian quickly grabbed her hand and said, "My Lady, it's all over."
