"Why are you here?"
Xie Xiangli looked a little worried. "I heard that your sister-in-law suddenly fell ill, and you even resigned from your job to take care of her at home. What happened?"
"She's sick, and it's my responsibility to take care of her."
"Is there really nothing else? Big brother, you and I are blood relatives. If something really happens, the Xie family won't be shouldered by you alone. I also want to take some responsibility for your father. Your father has been angry these past few days, and I'm really worried about him."
Xie Xianyu suddenly resigned and stayed away from the court, which made the master very angry.
But there was nothing.
Xie Xianyu looked at him, his eyes deep. "In that case, I have something for you to do."
"Just give your orders, big brother!"
"I can't go out these days, so please deliver this item to the Crown Prince of Beiliang on my behalf." Xie Xianyu took out a jade token and handed it to him.
Xie Xiangli's eyes flickered as he took the jade token and asked, "What is this?"
"You don't need to know. Just give it to the Crown Prince of Beiliang and he will know."
Xie Xiangli didn't dare to ask any more questions, and just immediately replied, "Yes."
Xie Xiangli put away the jade token and turned to leave.
Xie Xianyu's eyes followed his receding figure, gradually turning cold.
Su Yan emerged from behind the screen and asked in confusion, "What is this jade token? Are you still connected to the Crown Prince of Beiliang?"
Xie Xianyu's expression was cold: "Nothing."
Su Yan got the hint and shook his head, "You old fox! Li Jingzhao has been trying to please King Xuan ever since King Jin fell from power. Giving this jade token away can not only test his gratitude but also sow discord between King Xuan and Li Jingzhao. I'm afraid they'll become estranged in spirit."
Killing two birds with one stone, who can outsmart him?
That night, Xie Xianyu stayed with Wanruo and asked the female doctor to change her medicine.
She was in so much pain that tears rolled down her cheeks. After finally changing the medicine, both of them felt like they had escaped death and finally breathed a sigh of relief.
He gently wiped the sweat from her forehead with a handkerchief: "Does it still hurt?"
She ignored him in silence.
Ever since their last "quarrel", she didn't like to pay much attention to him. If it were in the past, he would have just given her a beating, but now seeing her suffer like this, how could he still have the mind to care about these things?
"The imperial physician said your wound is healing well. I also had someone collect some Tianshan Snow Lotus. They say it's very nourishing to the body. If you take good care of it, you might be able to get out of bed in a month."
He spoke softly, his eyes meeting her red ones, and his heart still ached.
I don't know whether these words are to comfort her or to comfort myself.
Fu Xian's voice came from outside the door: "Xiaozi."
His eyes narrowed slightly, and he ruffled her hair: "I'll be back soon."
He got up and went out.
Fu Xian immediately reported, "Second Master did not immediately go to find the Crown Prince of Beiliang, but instead sent someone to Prince Xuan's mansion first."
Xie Xianyu's eyes were cold: "Is it really him?"
"Should we arrest Erjizi and interrogate him immediately?"
"No rush, keep him, I still have him." His tone was cold.
"yes!"
"Keep watching him."
Xie Xianyu turned around and walked towards the bedroom. When he reached the door, he paused, suppressed the anger around him, and then walked in.
Wanruo was lying on the bed, with tears still on her eyelashes. When she saw him come in, she turned her head away and didn't look at him. It was unclear whether she was angry because the dressing change was too painful, or because she was still angry with him.
He walked over to the bed and sat down, raising his hand to stroke her hair: "Wanwan, you have to get better soon."
His eyes gradually turned cold, but his voice remained gentle: "When you recover from your injuries, I will take you to see a good show."
