Chapter 49 Can't Lose Her (2/2)

Xie Xianyu gently stroked Wan Ruo's cheek. Even if everyone knew about it, he might as well take this opportunity to take her in earlier. Why bother to abide by those rules?

He would feel at ease only if she stayed in front of him.

Last night, the bandits searched all over Yanjing City. He had never been so scared before. It seemed that he realized for the first time that he could not lose her.

Wanruo felt her cheek rubbed by his fingers, which made her feel itchy. Her eyelashes trembled slightly and she woke up with sleepy eyes.

"Are you awake?" She opened her eyes and met Xie Xianyu's dark eyes.

"Um."

Wanruo reached out and touched his forehead: "The doctor said that your injury is not vital, and your fever has subsided now. There is no danger to your life."

"Yeah." He still said indifferently.

Wan Ruo wanted to settle the score with him, but seeing how frail he looked, the words were on the tip of her tongue but she couldn't bring herself to spit them out. She pursed her lips and gave up, thinking she was unlucky.

"Then you take a rest. I'll go first."

Wanruo was forced to lie on the edge of the bed until her legs were numb. She supported herself on the bed and tried to stand up and leave, but he grabbed her wrist again.

Wan Ruo frowned: "Do you have anything else to do?"

He looked at her and said something shameless in a cold voice: "Stay here with me."

"I'm tired after a long day. Let Cuizhu look after you."

"Then come to bed."

“…”

She swallowed her anger and sat down on the edge of the bed.

But he pulled her wrist, causing her to lose her balance and fall directly onto the bed.

She hurried to get up, but he held her down. "Why are you still hiding when everyone knows about it? Is there any difference between you sitting by my bed all night and sleeping by it?"

She glared at him angrily: "How dare you say that?!"

She had never wanted to settle the score with him, so how dare he bring it up?!

Wanruo was angry and wanted to struggle, but she found that his left shoulder was bleeding because of the movement of her arm. She was so scared that she dared not move.

Xie Xianyu looked at her and said softly, "Go to sleep."

Wanruo suddenly felt creepy. In an instant, she understood why she could never defeat him. This was because he was crueler than anyone else, cruel to others and to himself.

He would rather hurt her wound than not let her stay here. He seemed willing to sacrifice anything.

"What's wrong?" he asked.

Wan Ruo pursed her lips: "Why did you save me?"

In fact, he was not very worried, but the moment he saw the crossbow arrow, he had only one thought: he could not lose her.

He raised his hand and gently stroked the hair on her cheek: "Wanwan, you are my love."

Wanruo felt a chill on her back, as if she couldn't escape even with wings.

It was not until the second half of the night that Wanruo fell into a drowsy sleep. When she woke up in the morning, her eyes were dark blue.

The imperial physician had already come to change Xie Xianyu's medicine, and Wanruo brought him some medicine soup to feed him.

Cuizhu came in hurriedly and said, "Sir, Madam Zhuang is here."

"What is it?"

Cuizhu glanced at Wanruo, and said with a somewhat cheerful expression, "He said he wanted to invite Miss Cousin to come over, probably to discuss the matter of taking a concubine."

Wanruo paused while holding the medicine, and a flash of panic passed through her eyes.
