Chapter 13 Brings Friends

"Qiu Chi, you're back?" Yan Qing waved to Yu Qiu Chi as he came downstairs. He thought Yu Qiu Chi wouldn't come back, after all, the man who entered the ward yesterday looked very domineering.

"Are you feeling well?"

"Everything's alright now. Have you had breakfast? Want to come together?"

Yan Qing perked up at the mention of breakfast: "No, what do you have? I want shumai!"

"Yes, we have Chinese sausage, salted egg yolk, shrimp, and spicy beef."

[Hearing the menu announced first thing this morning made me really jealous.]

[I'm eating shumai too, it's made with dried preserved mustard greens.]

At this point, almost everyone had arrived. Yu Qiuchi looked around at everyone and noticed that Jiang Chenzhou was not present. He asked, "Where is Zhou Shen?"

"He didn't seem to come back last night..." Tang Ke said uncertainly. He was the last to return to his room last night and didn't see Jiang Chenzhou come back during that time.

Yu Qiuchi nodded without asking further questions. Everyone has their own privacy, and Jiang Chenzhou might have been distracted by his own personal matters.

"Was that your brother yesterday?" Xie Tingsi leaned closer, his eyes filled with curiosity. He wanted to learn more about Yu Qiuchi.

"Um."

"Are you related? Then why don't you and your brother have the same surname, Qiu Chi?" Yan Qing voiced his doubts. He had learned about the man's identity last night while surfing the internet. The man's surname was Mo, not Yu.

Yu Qiuchi still had a smile on her face, but her eyes turned cold the moment Yan Qing asked the question.

"My brother takes my mother's surname, and I take my father's surname."

Yan Qing, however, failed to notice anything amiss: "Qiu Chi's parents must have loved each other very much!"

Tang Ke nudged Yan Qing with his foot from below, telling him to shut up.

"Hmm, maybe." Yu Qiuchi took the last bite of the shrimp dumpling, then stood up and said, "What happened yesterday was rather sudden. I'll go find the director first."

As Yan Qing watched Yu Qiuchi leave, he finally realized what a stupid question he had asked. He knew that the news of the Yu couple's divorce had been all over the internet at the time.

He looked at Tang Ke with a hint of tears in his eyes: "Should I not have asked?"

Tang Ke sighed. Based on their time together yesterday, Yan Qing did have an element of foolishness in him.

"Do I need to apologize?"

"Shut up!" Tang Ke put a shumai into Yan Qing's mouth, sounding exasperated.

Gu Xiaojun understood clearly that Yu Qiuchi seemed to have a good temper and be the easiest to get along with, always smiling at people, but in reality, he was the most difficult to get along with. His gentleness was a soft thorn on the outside, which could not pierce others, but protected himself very well.

Song Yaozhuo was very concerned about Yu Qiuchi's question about why Jiang Chenzhou was not there.

[What a terrible temper Yu Qiuchi has! I only asked him a couple of questions, and he gave my teacher Yu Feng the cold shoulder! (Disgusting)]

[What kind of die-hard fan is that upstairs? You were the one who started prying into the teacher's privacy first. So what if the teacher was impatient? Don't start fights and try to get attention here.]

[Just a casual observer, I'm asking because I don't understand. Isn't the point of dating reality shows to get to know each other? Was Yu Qiuchi's reaction too much?]

[Don't pretend to be someone else; you haven't deleted the photos of your idol from your profile page.]

[Since your parents are no longer alive, it's natural to be upset if someone brings it up now!]

[It's true they got to know each other on the dating reality show, but they've only known each other for a few days, just two? If someone you've only known for two days asked you that on the street, wouldn't you be annoyed? Asking isn't wrong, but there's a limit! And where did Yu Qiuchi show any disrespect? He answered with a smile, and his actions when leaving the table weren't disrespectful, and he explained his reasons.]

Yu Qiuchi's impression of Yan Qing was not good; he had low emotional intelligence, couldn't understand the implied meaning, and lacked a sense of propriety. But he wasn't bad either; at least his work attitude was good, which capitalists loved.

Anyway, it has little to do with him. He doesn't talk to Yan Qing about it. What Yan Qing does is something for his future partner to consider.

However, Yu Qiuchi's excuse for leaving was true; he had some business to discuss with Zhou Baixi.

"What wind blew Liao Liao here?" Zhou Baixi joked. He had met Yu Qiuchi last night and never expected that Yu Qiuchi would come to see him today.

"Zhou Baixi, you can shut up." Looking at the unserious Zhou Baixi, Yu Qiuchi understood the Zhou couple's concerns.

"Okay, Liao Liao can only be called by your brother."

Seeing that Yu Qiuchi's expression was about to change, Zhou Baixi quickly changed the subject: "Alright, you don't come here without a reason. Tell me, what brings you here specifically?"

"What did my brother want to talk to you about yesterday?" Yu Qiuchi spoke softly, but she gave Zhou Baixi a strange sense of pressure.

"What can I say? Your allergy is such a big deal, your brother must be giving me a good talking to. Yu Daiyu, you better take good care of yourself, otherwise it won't just be a matter of whether the show can be saved, but whether my head will still be on my shoulders." Zhou Baixi wailed, trying to brush the matter off.

Yu Qiuchi knew he wouldn't get any answers, so he didn't press the issue. The curtains fluttered slightly as Yu Qiuchi leaned against the window, smoking. He took a deep drag, then exhaled a smoke ring, his tone ambiguous: "I don't know what you're planning, but some people in the Yu family have gone too far, making a scene right in front of me. Zhou Baixi, Mo Weiyun, no matter what his surname is, he's my brother. The Yu family is his now, and it will always be his."

Zhou Baixi choked on the smell of smoke. He looked at Yu Qiuchi, who was blocking the light, and said, "Your brother only wishes for your safety."

"I hope so." Yu Qiuchi chuckled, tapping the ash from his cigarette with his long, slender fingers. He bluntly stated, "My mother died in a car accident, didn't she? She ran away after arguing with my father!"

"You remembered." Zhou Baixi's body stiffened, a chill spreading from the soles of her feet upwards. Her mind exploded like a bomb, and she felt that everything was over.
