But Yu Qiuchi didn't say anything more. He chuckled, stubbed out the rest of his cigarette, and threw it into the small water tank in front of him.
"Your porridge tastes terrible, thanks." Yu Qiuchi said succinctly and then strode away with her long legs.
After the door closed, the room fell silent. Zhou Baixi looked at the cigarette butt next to his pet turtle and yelled!
"Holy shit! Yu Qiuchi, my lucky turtle!"
Zhou Baixi hurriedly went to retrieve the Yantai water and then went to change the water.
After leaving the staff accommodation area, Yu Qiuchi, who had just finished showing off, quickly stopped and coughed violently. He hadn't smoked in a long time, and when he looked up, his eyes were full of tears. Then, he met Jiang Chenzhou's gaze.
Startled, Yu Qiuchi forced herself to swallow the rest of her cough.
Yu Qiuchi glanced at Jiang Chenzhou, who looked somewhat disheveled, still wearing the same clothes as yesterday.
Jiang Chenzhou stiffened when he was stared at by Yu Qiuchi's wet eyes. He thought he could smell smoke, but he didn't suspect that Yu Qiuchi was smoking. He assumed that he had smoked too many cigarettes the night before and the smell hadn't dissipated.
"You're back?"
"Mm." Yu Qiuchi nodded.
The two huddled together, unsure of what to say. Jiang Chenzhou thought for a moment and asked the go-to opening line, "Have you eaten?"
"have eaten."
"Yours?"
"not yet."
"Should I treat you?" Yu Qiuchi asked.
Jiang Chenzhou agreed as if possessed.
Yu Qiuchi took Jiang Chenzhou to a small shop with a sign that read "Fate Breakfast Shop" hanging outside. Jiang Chenzhou took a second look at the sign, which was written with a brush and the characters looked very elegant. This shop was very special because it did not have a menu.
"Xiao Chi is here?" The shop owner was an old woman who looked quite old. She came over wearing a pink apron and seemed to be quite familiar with Yu Qiuchi.
"Did you bring friends? That's not often. My little Chi has learned to make friends too." The old lady seemed very enthusiastic.
“Aunt Chen, this is Jiang Chenzhou, and this is Aunt Chen. I used to have breakfast here often,” Yu Qiuchi introduced.
"Aunt Chen," Jiang Chenzhou called out, echoing Yu Qiuchi's address.
"Oh, what a handsome young man. Xiao Chi, it's been so long! What would you like to eat?"
"Tofu pudding with fried dough sticks will do, is Zhou Shen okay?" Yu Qiuchi asked.
Jiang Chenzhou could certainly eat there, but Yu Qiuchi was worried that Jiang Chenzhou wouldn't have enough to eat, so she added another basket of xiaolongbao (soup dumplings).
"Are you familiar with this place?" Jiang Chenzhou asked after Aunt Chen had left.
"Luckily, I stayed here for a while, and my brother even wrote that signboard outside."
"Your brother wrote this?" Jiang Chenzhou frowned.
"Yeah, what's wrong?" Yu Qiuchi didn't expect Zhou Shen to ask that, but she still answered.
"It's alright, it's written quite nicely." Jiang Chenzhou praised, puzzled by the difference between the handwriting outside and that of Mo Weiyun, whom he had seen yesterday. How could someone like Mo Weiyun write with such a free and unrestrained style?
After they finished eating, instead of returning to the Heartbeat House, they received instructions from the production team that today's date would be at the amusement park, and they would be paired up to play hide-and-seek.
