Chapter 16 Sanctioning You in the Name of the Law

[Fellow members of the comment group, has anyone been to this haunted house? Was it fun?]

[Six Doors?]

[Those are eight doors; they must be related to Qimen Dunjia (a form of divination).]

[The gate of life and the gate of death?]

[Don't spoil it, let's give these country bumpkins a little shock. Anyway, this haunted house gave me goosebumps.]

"Eeya~" Yu Qiuchi thought she heard the sound of opera singing, but only once. Yu Qiuchi led Jiang Chenzhou past the trembling young couple and walked towards the bed, which was a paper effigy.

The bride wore a veil and a festive wedding dress, while clumps of red thread were wrapped around her body on the bed, symbolizing shackles that bound her soul.

Yu Qiuchi had a general idea of the plot; the theme was most likely a ghost marriage, where a woman with a tragic fate was forced to marry a dead man.

Once inside the haunted house, GPS positioning becomes practically unusable because the location difference is too small; you can only determine the general direction.

Song Yaozhuo looked at the eight doors in front of him and pursed his lips. He thought of the Eight Trigrams: the three doors of Open, Rest, and Life are auspicious; the three doors of Death, Shock, and Injury are inauspicious; and the three doors of Block and View are neutral.

But that's all he knows. He only regrets not having learned from his grandfather. He used to disbelieve in these things and thought they were superstitious, but now he regrets not knowing enough when he needs them.

Song Yaozhuo decided to take a gamble. If he won, it would be fate; if he lost... well, so what if he lost? What does it mean?

With that thought in mind, Song Yaozhuo pushed open the door.

Yu Qiuchi felt the door behind him open. He turned around and saw two girls.

The two girls were dressed very brightly in red, which matched the scene perfectly.

Yu Qiuchi didn't pay much attention; he lifted the bride's veil, revealing her face.

The bride's eyes were white, her face was covered with black scars, and a group of red silk threads with copper coins were strung in front of her eyes.

Before Yu Qiuchi could even get a good look, the music started playing again in the room: "The bride is there~ She's laughing," the ethereal female voice drew out the notes. The couple screamed again, while the two girls were unusually excited.

"Wow! This was absolutely amazing, it was definitely worth the trip! The Time-Traveling Bride lived up to the hype, it's just like a murder mystery game!"

"A bride across time and space?" Yu Qiuchi caught these four words. He saw the bride, but where was the time and space?

As the music ended, the bride in front of me was flipped backward and then disappeared into the yellow light.

A large hole appeared in the bed.

"Should we go inside?" Yu Qiuchi asked tentatively.

"Hmm." Jiang Chenzhou checked the location and found that Song Yaozhuo's status was roughly the same as theirs, so he must have come looking for them, but unfortunately, he might have chosen the wrong door.

Yu Qiuchi climbed down the ladder. Below was a passageway, surrounded by what appeared to be transparent glass. There were many bloodstains on the glass, which were made of cheap red paint.

Jiang Chenzhou followed behind Yu Qiuchi, clutching his clothes tightly, looking like a pitiful little thing.

The couple and their best friends followed.

Just as the girl in the couple landed and leaned against the boy's chest, sobbing, the floor above suddenly closed, and the fog spread again.

As the eerie music started playing, a commotion erupted, and a cacophony of chatter filled the air.

Yu Qiuchi was now like a god incarnate, standing at the very front. But as they walked halfway through the passage, a bunch of hands reached out from all around, waving wildly in the air, and the discussions gradually became denser and more intense.

"Aaaaaah!" The three girls screamed in unison.

The boy's legs went weak and he squatted on the ground. When the girl touched him, he suddenly found the strength from somewhere and scrambled forward, crashing into Yu Qiuchi.

Yu Qiuchi lost her balance from the impact and fell forward, but fortunately Jiang Chenzhou was quick and caught her, pulling her into his arms. He then led her to the end of the passageway with one hand. He lifted the curtain made of yellow symbols, and a female ghost appeared right in front of him.

But Jiang Chenzhou showed no emotion; he stepped aside from the female ghost, placed Yu Qiuchi on the table, and turned on his phone's flashlight.

Are you injured?

Yu Qiuchi was a little embarrassed and said no. He was completely stunned. Just now, Jiang Chenzhou had carried him this far with one hand.

Is this human arm strength? Do people have such good stamina while playing video games?

[Embracing a beauty with one hand! Sexual tension at its peak!]

[How could that person do this? Is my wife alright?! Waaah!]

[My wife seems to have a lot of health problems; she had an allergic reaction yesterday and was hit by a car today.]

Yu Qiuchi got off the table and felt a slight pain in her ankle, but she felt mostly weak, so she didn't pay much attention to it. After moving around a bit, she decided to get out of the haunted house as soon as possible.

The three girls came in as a group. One of them pushed the female ghost aside and then took her bag and threw it at the man who was cowering to the side!

"Damn it, what did you say before you came in, Wang Kongming, you coward, let's break up!"

An angry girl is more terrifying than an NPC; the female ghost was so stunned that she secretly slipped away.

The room was decorated like a courtyard, with a well inside and green light emanating from the side of the well.

"Go down the well?" Yu Qiuchi asked.

"It shouldn't be necessary." Jiang Chenzhou noticed a sliver of light that wasn't inside the room. He groped around and pushed it open, revealing a cluster of yellow lights.

Yu Qiuchi discovered that this door was very similar to the place they came from, with eight doors, except that there was a ticket seller at the door.

The ticket sellers had very interesting expressions.

[Is this a bug?]

[My friend and I obediently went down the well, then wandered through a maze of twists and turns, getting scared half to death by the NPCs below. When we finally arrived here, we found eight doors and thought we must have misremembered X﹏X]

[Six, but Song Yaozhuo also came.]

As Yu Qiuchi went out, she met Song Yaozhuo's gaze. Yu Qiuchi turned back and closed the door as if burying her head in the sand.
