"Qiu Chi!" Xie Tingsi waved excitedly to Yu Qiu Chi across the dam.
After Yu Qiuchi crossed the bridge, he discovered that Xie Tingsi's load of corn was a pile of tender corn.
Xie Tingsi also noticed the bamboo basket on Song Yaozhuo's back. He put down the load on his shoulder and asked, "Qiuchi, where have you been?"
"Going up the mountain to find wild vegetables. What about you? Are you selling corn?" Seeing Xie Tingsi covered in sweat, Yu Qiuchi took out an unopened pack of tissues from the kitten's bag and handed it to him.
Xie Tingsi took the tissue from Yu Qiuchi and wiped the sweat from his forehead. His brown, short hair was already flat and sticky on his forehead, making it a little itchy. "I'm going to take this corn to Grandma Li's house in the west of the village!"
"Why isn't Tang Ke with you?" Yu Qiuchi asked.
Xie Tingsi and Tang Ke were assigned to the same team, but now only Xie Tingsi is seen.
"He went to call a phone repairman for Grandpa Liu."
Yu Qiuchi asked in confusion, "Can teammates be separated?"
"The production team didn't say it wasn't allowed!" Xie Tingsi chuckled. It would be foolish not to take advantage of the loopholes in the production team's operations!
"Alright, then Song Yaozhuo and I will take the wild vegetables to the old lady first!"
Xie Tingsi was reluctant to part ways, but he also had a mission to complete, so he could only watch Yu Qiuchi's departing figure with sadness.
There are many bridges here, and willow trees are planted along the riverbanks, their branches swaying in the warm breeze.
Yu Qiuchi spent the whole morning searching for wild vegetables on the mountain before he could gather enough for a bamboo basket. His legs and back ached from squatting so much that he could tell it was lunchtime just by looking at the sun without even checking his phone.
"What are we having for lunch?" Yu Qiuchi had a cup of soy milk in the morning.
"Hungry?"
“Yes!” Yu Qiuchi nodded deeply.
"Oh right!" Yu Qiuchi rummaged through her bag: "I still have two candies! Tang Ke gave them to me this morning!"
"I'll give you one!"
When they arrived at the old lady's house, Song Yaozhuo put down his bamboo basket. The old lady invited him to wash his hands and stay for a meal. As soon as he entered the inner room, he saw Jiang Chenzhou leading a child through the gate.
"Teacher Jiang, thank you so much!" The old lady pulled her grandson over, smiling happily.
"My grandson is such a troublemaker! Did he cause you any trouble this morning?!"
"No, you're very good!" Jiang Chenzhou pinched the boy's chubby cheeks.
[Even with our Zhou Shen's current shabby appearance, he's already being called Teacher Jiang!]
[As expected, our Zhou Shen only has patience with kids!]
[Everyone else is selling physical strength, but our Zhou Shen is selling his intelligence.]
"Stay and have lunch with us! You've been covering for my daughter and teaching the kids all morning. Kids these days are so resilient, and they're really hard to manage!" the old lady invited.
"Okay." Jiang Chenzhou glanced at Yu Qiuchi, who was chatting with Song Yaozhuo in the inner room, and agreed.
"Alright, Tunzi, why don't you take your teacher, Xiao Jiang, inside? I'll go wash these vegetables right now; they're all natural, and they'll smell amazing when steamed!"
Li Tun liked Jiang Chenzhou very much. Most importantly, Jiang Chenzhou had a much better temper than his aunt. If he still couldn't understand a problem after being told it three times, his aunt would have already disciplined him with a stick.
But this morning Jiang Chenzhou was very patient, explaining it to him many times without getting angry or looking down on him for being slow.
"God of Boats!" Yu Qiuchi was somewhat surprised to see Jiang Chenzhou enter. Although the village was not very big, it shouldn't be so big that you would run into a guest every few steps!
Jiang Chenzhou sat down opposite Yu Qiuchi: "What did you do this morning?"
"Wild vegetables! The wild vegetables that Auntie is steaming for lunch today are the ones that Song Yaozhuo and I picked!"
"Tired?"
"Fortunately, it was actually Song Yaozhu who did the work all along!"
Seeing that Yu Qiuchi kept mentioning Song Yaozhuo, Jiang Chenzhou glanced at Song Yaozhuo, who hadn't said a word since he came in.
It seems that Yu Qiuchi had a good time spending time with Song Yaozhuo this morning.
Today, my auntie prepared a very lavish meal: stir-fried sausage with garlic sprouts, stewed potatoes with meat, and steamed wild vegetables. Although it wasn't as fancy as what you get outside, it had a very homey taste.
Because Yu Qiuchi couldn't help much with cooking, he insisted on washing the dishes after the meal!
It's time to work again in the afternoon!
The ten points he got from the old lady were still too few. He found out at noon that Jiang Chenzhou earned fifty points for helping to look after the children all morning, which was incomparable!
Yu Qiuchi decided to aim for second place and secure third; first place would be too extravagant, and he was well aware of his own limitations!
“I think if we want to get a high score, we can go and see the village chief! After all, people with status in the game usually give more rewards!” Yu Qiuchi analyzed based on the online games he played during his rebellious period.
Song Yaozhuo trusted him unconditionally.
“Woof woof woof!”
After asking around the village, they finally found the village chief's house, but before they even got close to the door, they heard a dog barking.
It was a big wolfhound, with its ears standing up and its big tail drooping down, swishing back and forth!
The old man in the rocking chair patted the dog's head: "Big Flower, don't bark!"
"Oh! It's you!" The old man stood up from his rocking chair and was about to pull Yu Qiuchi into the house: "Chiwa, come on, my wife just fried some sweet potato balls! They smell delicious. I was going to invite you over for lunch, but your director insisted that you ate in the east of the village!"
The sweet potato balls at the old man's house are fried until crispy on the outside and tender on the inside; they look delicious!
"Grandpa, are you the village chief?" Yu Qiuchi asked.
"No, I'm the village chief's father!" the old man said with great pride.
"Grandpa, do you know about points cards?"
"Of course I know! I had my son tell the villagers this. What, you want to get a points card from me, your old man?"
