He didn't maintain his cool demeanor for more than a few seconds before Yu Qiuchi broke down. After exiting the passage, he turned back to Yan Qing and asked, "Are you alright?"
"Ah...it's nothing, it's nothing..." Yan Qingren was clearly not in a good mood and replied blankly, "Qiu Chi, you were just now very..."
He racked his brains for a long time but couldn't come up with any adjectives.
"Is it sophisticated or just baffling?" Yu Qiuchi didn't care. He faced everyone and said seriously, "Don't take what happened earlier to heart. He's not looking down on you, he's looking down on all of us."
Guest: "..."
Tang Ke nodded, agreeing: "It was indeed a bit pretentious." But then he changed the subject: "Using her looks to commit crimes."
Yu Qiuchi glared at him, annoyed: "Let's go, let's talk about serious business!"
The production team was very thoughtful, preparing a separate practice room for them and specially painting the words "Exclusive for the Romance Variety Show Boy Group" on the door.
Yu Qiuchi pushed open the door and entered, commenting, "It's quite big."
Regarding their debut, the most important thing right now is for them to decide what songs to sing on stage!
Since there were no benches in the room, the seven guests sat on the floor in a circle.
"Tell me everything you know, down to the smallest detail!" Yan Qing took a small notebook and a pen from the piano next to her.
He began by saying, "I sing popular music recently, like 'My Paper Airplane.' You're not expecting something like 'Snow.' I usually sing radio drama theme songs the most."
"Me too, I order all the trendy things these days," Xie Tingsi replied.
Yu Qiuchi realized that this was bad. He wasn't familiar with the songs from recent years; the ones he was familiar with were older ones like "A Thousand Years of Love" and "Norwegian Wood." He told the truth, and everyone fell silent.
"However, I can practice what's popular recently." Yu Qiuchi was still quite confident in herself.
"Where's Junxiao?" Yan Qing asked, looking up. Gu Xiaojun was the oldest among them, and probably the one with the biggest generation gap.
“I can do anything,” Gu Xiaojun replied, “but I can’t sing high notes.”
Yu Qiuchi expressed his understanding, because he himself did not particularly enjoy singing high notes. He thought of Song Yaozhuo, who should have no problem with high notes. Now, only Tang Ke and Jiang Chenzhou remained.
"The last fireworks of summer, and a bit of rap," Tang Ke replied.
"When I look up, are you looking at me?" Yu Qiuchi asked, remembering seeing it in Tang Ke's previous surfing playlist.
Tang Ke nodded to Yu Qiuchi: "Yes, that's the version."
Jiang Chenzhou, who was probably the most trendy, said expressionlessly, "I'm tone-deaf. I mostly listen to bands like Painkiller and Zero Watch. I can play a little electric guitar and drums."
"Zhou Shen, you can also play the drums, that's so cool!" Yan Qing exclaimed.
Jiang Chenzhou remembered that back then, there were many young people in their small, run-down town who wanted to start a band. They would howl in the streets every night, and he could hear them clearly from his internet cafe.
"I know a little about piano, I can play Croatian Rhapsody." Tang Ke was forced to learn it by his mother, but he had forgotten most of it by the time he got to college.
Yu Qiuchi can play the piano and violin to some extent, but he hasn't touched them for several years. The same goes for the erhu.
He was already struggling with singing, so dancing would only make it more difficult. Zhou Baixi really gave him a big challenge.
"We could actually cut off the jump," Tang Ke suggested, watching Yan Qing doodle in his notebook.
"Indeed, singing and dancing at the same time requires too much consideration of breath control," Gu Xiaojun agreed.
Xie Tingsi scratched his head: "This is asking the impossible! Even when I was in school, our talent shows were never this difficult to organize."
Yan Qing asked curiously, "Brother Si, what do you do at the gala?"
“The trees in the background, just stand still,” Xie Tingsi replied.
Song Yaozhuo, who had been silent until now, spoke up: "If you can't sing and dance well, then work on the stage design and atmosphere."
Although the seven guests claimed they didn't care, they are all leaders in their respective fields and value this performance highly. However, the more crucial point is that they are the closing act! They deserve a good ending.
"Take away the dancing and just practice singing. The main focus is on creating the lighting and atmosphere, and then adding a final touch of excitement," Yu Qiuchi summarized, before asking, "So what are we singing?"
Silence again.
"Mountains and seas! It has both high and low notes, creating an atmosphere that's both exciting and thrilling."
"In the fog, there are both low and high frequencies, and the atmosphere is also very good."
Yan Qing and Xie Tingsi spoke together, and it was good that Yu Qiuchi had never heard it before.
“A team in the fog has drawn this song; it’s best to avoid it.” Gu Xiaojun had paid special attention to the results of the draw on stage.
“Indeed, otherwise it’s easy to compare professionals and amateurs.” Jiang Chenzhou continued Gu Xiaojun’s words, leaving out the rest, but everyone understood.
Yu Qiuchi connected to the room's speakers via Bluetooth and searched for the two songs on the spot. He questioned, "Can we really sing them?"
One person might be able to sing it, but it's much harder for seven people to come together than for one person.
Yu Qiuchi was a little annoyed, so he took off the little devil hat.
"Actually, there's no need to be too restrictive; there's still time," Jiang Chenzhou comforted Yu Qiuchi, helping her smooth down her frizzy hair caused by static electricity.
Yeah, there are still six days left, what's there to be afraid of? If we really can't practice by then, it's the director's fault, he gave us too little time!
"Fine, let's each write one song and draw lots."
The motion passed by a vote of seven.
Finally, Yu Qiuchi carefully opened the paper in his hand: "Nameless Person".
Another song she hadn't heard before. Just as Yu Qiuchi was about to search for it, Jiang Chenzhou stopped her: "There's a stage version here. We can categorize the lyrics according to that."
