When Yu Qiuchi saw Xie Tingsi taking him in a taxi, he assumed Xie Tingsi was out early in the morning to walk his hamster: "Are you out for a walk with Hongchen this early in the morning?"
"Buy it some food; it eats better than I do." Xie Tingsi found it troublesome and didn't drive this morning, taking the bus instead, since there's a bus stop right outside his apartment complex.
"Have you bought the grain?" Yu Qiuchi asked, noticing that Xie Tingsi wasn't carrying anything else and worried about delaying the hamster's breakfast.
Xie Tingsi was a little jealous. Ever since this rat came to their home, his mother had completely fallen for it! He already had no status at home, and now he had even less – he was at the very bottom of the food chain.
Yu Qiuchi had been asking about the hamster ever since they met, which only made him more frustrated.
"Don't worry, we had the store deliver it to its home. It won't go hungry."
Yu Qiuchi nodded, and the two walked onto the street, where silence fell.
"I'll take you to the morning market!" Xie Tingsi changed his mind at the last minute. He stopped next to a bus stop sign, pointed to the bus route on it, and Yu Qiuchi peeked over to look at the H3 lakeside tourist bus.
"Around the lake?"
The hamster was restless and ready to pounce. Xie Tingsi didn't keep an eye on it for a moment, and it jumped directly onto Yu Qiuchi: "This road has a lot of scenery. After passing through the morning market, there are some memorial halls and commercial streets."
Xie Tingsi felt a little annoyed as he watched the mouse rubbing against Yu Qiuchi's shoulder. He hadn't even touched the person yet!
"What right does a mere rat have!" Xie Tingsi said, annoyed, as he dragged the rat back into his pocket.
Yu Qiuchi felt that this was probably the first time he had ever ridden a bus, and most of the people on the bus were elderly.
Xie Tingsi deliberately led Yu Qiuchi to the last row. An old lady in front and an old man opposite were chatting loudly across the aisle, which made Yu Qiuchi feel a little uncomfortable.
He tugged at Xie Tingsi's sleeve, speaking very softly, probably to avoid being overheard: "Don't we need to pay?"
"What?" Xie Tingsi didn't hear clearly because it was so noisy in the car, but he also regretted bringing Yu Qiuchi on the bus.
"Don't you have to pay for the bus?"
Xie Tingsi leaned down and heard clearly that the two were very close together, looking like a young couple to the people in front.
"Young people these days don't know how to restrain themselves, kissing each other in broad daylight..." the loud-voiced old woman said to the person next to her.
Yu Qiuchi heard it too, but he didn't think it was about the two of them. Relying on his human instinct to gossip, he looked up in the car for the couple the old lady had mentioned, and finally found that there seemed to be only the two young people.
"No need now, we'll collect the money after October." After answering Yu Qiuchi's question, Xie Tingsi noticed that Yu Qiuchi's attention was no longer on this: "What are you looking at?"
Yu Qiuchi tugged at Xie Tingsi's sleeve again, signaling him to come closer, as if they were exchanging secret signals. Xie Tingsi reluctantly complied.
He pointed to the older woman in front of him: "That older woman, she said there are young people here..."
Yu Qiuchi paused for a moment, unsure how to express himself: "There was someone there, but I don't think I saw them."
Xie Tingsi was initially confused, but when he looked up and saw Yu Qiuchi's flushed cheeks and the old woman pointing at them, he began to understand what she meant.
"It's okay, just pretend you didn't hear it."
"Ah! Oh!" Yu Qiuchi nodded, bewildered, but still curious, what couples do that...?
As the two were about to get off the bus, Yu Qiuchi heard the old woman exclaim, "Young girls these days are so tall! Couples look better with a bit of a height difference!"
Yu Qiuchi: "..."
The case is solved! The affectionate young couple were those two. That old lady is really something, gossiping behind people's backs without even trying to hide it from them.
“That’s a boy, so keep your voice down and shut up!” said another woman next to the first woman.
Upon hearing that it was a boy, the loud-mouthed old woman shut up. She glanced at the two men with a wandering eye and muttered under her breath, "Aren't two grown men disgusting?"
Xie Tingsi and Yu Qiuchi happened to walk up to them.
Xie Tingsi put one arm around Yu Qiuchi's waist to prevent him from falling, and used the other hand to brace himself against the railing. He said to the old lady, "Gossiping behind people's backs, aren't you afraid of getting hurt? You're an old lady, and people don't bother with you, but you really have no manners!"
Both of them are at least 1.8 meters tall, so there's still a sense of pressure when they stand there.
That old lady had a sharp tongue, but she didn't really have the guts to cause trouble. After all, with her physique, she couldn't withstand two punches from Xie Tingsi.
The door opened, and Xie Tingsi was about to pull Yu Qiuchi downstairs when the old woman, seeing this, immediately retorted, "These little beasts nowadays, they don't even know how to respect the elderly and care for the young!"
"Respect the elderly and cherish the young, go home and find your own little beast!" Xie Tingsi said, turning back as the door was about to close.
These words struck a chord with the old woman; her son had run off with another man!
She can't be tough at home, but today she happened to run into Yu Qiuchi and Xie Tingsi, which just happened to ignite her temper!
The main reason is that Yu Qiuchi is good-looking and has a seductive look. She can't stand guys like that. They're obviously not going to settle down!
After getting off the bus, Xie Tingsi looked apologetic: "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have taken Qiu Chi on the bus."
"It's alright, there are all kinds of people in society. It was just a few words, nothing serious." Yu Qiuchi patted the puppy's chestnut-colored short hair to comfort it when he saw that the puppy was unhappy.
Xie Tingsi was a little embarrassed. He scratched the hair that Yu Qiuchi had just touched and said, "I usually speak very politely..."
