Chapter 88 Yang Zeyan has finally arrived.
Du Ruoxia nodded generously. Song Shifeng looked at Du Ruoxia's hand, which was empty, and his eyes narrowed.
"Oh, I was afraid I'd lose it, so I took it off when I left," Du Ruoxia said awkwardly, raising her hand as he followed his gaze.
"Is your man Yang Zeyan?" Song Shifeng continued.
Du Ruoxia nodded again, "I came here chasing after him, but I didn't expect to run into him."
Song Shifeng took a deep breath, calmed himself down, and looked up at Du Ruoxia, making Du Ruoxia unconsciously touch herself.
"Is there something on my face?" Du Ruoxia asked unconsciously.
Song Shifeng let out a breath, "No, it's quite unexpected, Yang Zeyan actually got married."
Du Ruoxia smiled and replied, "Don't laugh at me, but we only got our marriage certificate a few days ago, and we're not even having a banquet. It's the most environmentally friendly way to get married."
Upon hearing this, Song Shifeng frowned even more. He looked at Wang Hu with displeasure, while Wang Hu looked away guiltily.
“How can a girl get married without a wedding banquet? Wouldn’t that be giving him an easy way out?” Song Shifeng gritted his teeth and squeezed out the words.
Du Ruoxia waved her hand, "No, I don't like those kinds of occasions, like being stared at like a monkey. The simpler, the better!"
Her thinking was still geared towards the 21st century, and of course she didn't realize how important the sense of ritual was in the 1980s.
Seeing her indifferent expression, Song Shifeng could only sigh repeatedly, "Do you know anything about Yang Zeyan's family?"
When this was mentioned, Du Ruoxia looked blank. Yang Zeyan said that she needed to deal with his parents, but he didn't say when she would meet them.
"I haven't met his parents yet. I live with him, and I'll visit his hometown when I have the chance. I'm busy right now," Du Ruoxia said nonchalantly.
Song Shifeng gritted his teeth, feeling as if he had swallowed a wad of cotton, and was extremely uncomfortable.
"Ha, Yang Zeyan is really lucky, he just casually tricked himself into having such a wife!" Song Shifeng sneered.
Du Ruoxia tilted her head and thought for a moment. Yang Zeyan had indeed committed marriage fraud; she had been tricked into getting the marriage certificate.
"What does your family do? Who are your family members?" Song Shifeng took two steamed buns from his passing assistant and gave them to Du Ruoxia.
Du Ruoxia took the steamed bun and gave it to Wang Hu. She wasn't hungry at the moment, but she thought Wang Hu would probably need it more.
"There's no one left. I've cut ties with my family," Du Ruoxia replied calmly.
"Sever ties?" Song Shifeng raised his voice.
Du Ruoxia quickly waved her hand, "Forget it, you wouldn't understand anyway, so let's not talk about it."
Filial piety is still very important in this era, and severing ties is very rare. She only spoke a few more words because she knew that Song Shifeng and Yang Zeyan knew each other.
"This is not enough. You'll suffer in the end," Song Shifeng said cryptically, shaking his head.
"Comrade Du, don't listen to him. He just can't stand seeing our Regiment Commander Yang get married. He's even older than Regiment Commander Yang!" Wang Hu chimed in.
Du Ruoxia looked at Song Shifeng with a puzzled expression. He had a refined and elegant appearance, so how could he be single?
"How come your Yang regiment's decision not to get married is considered patriotic and beneficial to the people, but in my eyes it's considered heinous?" Song Shifeng said coldly to Wang Hu.
Wang Hu shrank his neck and shook his head, "I'm just stating the facts, everything I said is true!"
Du Ruoxia smiled and said, "Minister Song, you can lower your requirements a little when the time is right."
"I just haven't met the right person yet!" Song Shifeng turned his head away and explained impatiently.
Du Ruoxia nodded, "I understand, just like Yang Zeyan, I haven't met the right person!"
Wang Hu held his tongue and didn't dare look at Song Shifeng; he wouldn't dare speak to the other party like that.
Song Shifeng was speechless. No matter what he said, it would only be an excuse. He could see through Du Ruoxia's little scheme.
However, thinking of the Yang family in Kyoto, he still sullenly reminded Du Ruoxia, "It would be better if you didn't go to Kyoto for the time being."
After saying that, Song Shifeng took a deep breath and looked at Du Ruoxia's belly, "Let's go after your belly is ready."
Du Ruoxia looked puzzled, not knowing what the man meant. Just as she was about to speak, someone interrupted her.
"Xiaxia?"
Du Ruoxia's attention, which had been diverted by Song Shifeng, was instantly pulled away, and she turned her head uncertainly toward the source of the sound.
Seeing that familiar person standing on the mountaintop, the tension in her heart snapped instantly.
"Yang Zeyan! You've finally arrived!"
She abandoned Song Shifeng and ran towards the mountaintop, immediately rushing into Yang Zeyan's arms.
"Waaah, you're finally here! I thought I'd never see you again!" Du Ruoxia said hoarsely in Yang Zeyan's arms.
With the beauty in his arms, Yang Zeyan froze. He hesitated for a moment before placing his outstretched hand on Du Ruoxia's back.
"What are you doing here? Didn't I tell you to wait for me obediently in Yuxi Village?" Yang Zeyan's cold face turned into a wry smile, and his mood warmed up instantly.
Du Ruoxia rubbed against Yang Zeyan's chest and shook her head, completely ignoring the mud all over Yang Zeyan's body.
"What's wrong? Tell me, I'm dirty." Yang Zeyan said, pulling Du Ruoxia a step away from him.
But what came into view was Du Ruoxia's tear-streaked face, and Yang Zeyan's previously helpless expression instantly changed.
"What happened? What happened?" Yang Zeyan asked anxiously, gripping Du Ruoxia's shoulders with both hands.
Seeing that Du Ruoxia remained silent, he looked at the crowd and spotted Wang Hu, giving him a dangerous look.
Wang Hu hesitated, then looked at Tie Zhu not far away. Yang Zeyan immediately saw Tie Zhu's mother lying stiffly.
His expression changed, and as if remembering something, he looked at his wife with heartache and whispered to comfort her.
Song Shifeng watched as the girl, whom he had finally managed to coax a little, ran straight into Yang Zeyan's arms. He felt a mix of emotions, as if a beautiful flower had been trampled by cow dung. He showed an ugly expression.
Then he thought of something and immediately showed a look of annoyance. He had unconsciously felt indignant on behalf of Du Ruoxia, even though Du Ruoxia's family background was not as good as that of the Peng family.
After comforting Du Ruoxia, Yang Zeyan asked Wang Hu what had happened. Wang Hu recounted the whole story in detail. Yang Zeyan noticed that Gao Aijin and the others looked as black as the bottom of a pot.
"Do you think our laws are just for show! Now that the military is here, none of you will escape!" Yang Zeyan said angrily to Gao Aijin and the others.
"I won't let them get away with this, absolutely not!" Du Ruoxia added.
Upon hearing this, Gao Aijin and her group were so frightened that they immediately knelt down, pleading, "We didn't mean to, please don't arrest me!"
"Kneel down now? Didn't you enjoy bullying people? Don't even think about letting us go!" Du Ruoxia said coldly.
She ignored them and pulled Yang Zeyan to Song Shifeng.
Seeing that Du Ruoxia was unmoved, Gao Aijin glared at her with a sinister look and exchanged glances with the others. They then nodded in understanding.
Du Ruoxia had already focused her attention on Song Shifeng, and the crowd's attention was also on the group brought by Yang Zeyan, so they did not notice Gao Aijin's repeated retreating movements.
