Chapter 127 Treat her like I was the only one who came.
Du Ruoxia thought that since there were so many people coming and going here, she should be careful. But it seemed that after what happened last night, Yang Zeyan's behavior had become even bolder. He insisted on holding her hand in broad daylight, not even caring that it was hot.
"Yang Zeyan, are you possessed by a teddy bear?" Du Ruoxia slapped Yang Zeyan's hand away.
"Teddy, what's that?" Yang Zeyan asked, puzzled, but then he reached out to pull Du Ruoxia.
Du Ruoxia wiped her nose and calmly said, "It's a metaphor, meaning being overly enthusiastic."
She phrased it euphemistically; if she had said it the truth, she might have been scolded.
"If you're not enthusiastic towards your wife, who are you going to be enthusiastic towards? Do you expect me to be enthusiastic towards other people?" Yang Zeyan replied with a smile.
Du Ruoxia could only helplessly advise, "Alright, be careful when you're out there. So many people are watching. Think about your own identity."
Yang Zeyan hummed twice in reply, "Do I have to consider other people when I'm being affectionate towards my wife? Does that mean I can do whatever I want if there's no one else around?"
Du Ruoxia was speechless; she didn't know how to answer Yang Zeyan's question.
"Let's go check at the door, Grandma should be here!" she changed the subject.
Yang Zeyan looked annoyed. "Answer me first, right?"
Du Ruoxia looked helpless as he held her. She glanced around to make sure no one was watching, then tiptoed and tapped Yang Zeyan on the cheek.
The kiss was so light and fleeting that Du Ruoxia didn't even have time to react.
"Let's go!" Du Ruoxia broke free from his hand and walked out.
As soon as Du Ruoxia turned around, she saw the old lady watching from not far away, and her face instantly turned red with embarrassment.
"Grandma, you're here!" Yang Zeyan said calmly with a smile on his face.
"Grandma," Du Ruoxia called out to him as well.
"Oh, you all waited for me here. I just arrived and happened to run into Xiaxia. What a coincidence!" The old lady explained with a smile, but her attempt to cover up the truth only made Du Ruoxia feel even more embarrassed.
Seeing that Du Ruoxia was keeping her head down and didn't dare to look at anyone, Yang Zeyan took her hand and walked over. "Let's go in and eat."
However, the old lady unusually pulled away from Yang Zeyan's hand that was holding Du Ruoxia's. Yang Zeyan saw his grandmother's expression change, but before he could say anything, Du Ruoxia's hand was pulled back by the old lady.
The old lady leaned closer affectionately. "Xiaxia, have you been upset these past few days? You don't look well. Come inside, Grandma made you some soup!"
Yang Zeyan's tense heart finally calmed down a little when he saw the two people in front of him frozen in place.
The waiters at Fujing Hotel wore white uniforms and were incredibly kind to the elderly lady.
Du Ruoxia could tell at a glance that the old lady came here often. Seeing the waiter's scolding attitude, she lowered her head without making a sound.
“This is my granddaughter-in-law. You can all get to know her. From now on, when she comes, just treat her the same as when I come.”
The old lady took Du Ruoxia and Yang Zeyan around the Fujing Hotel. Du Ruoxia met many people, including a large number of those she only saw on television.
"It's the weekend today, and they usually enjoy drinking tea. This is the perfect place to enjoy tea." The old lady led Du Ruoxia into a small private room.
The private room has a window facing out, overlooking the courtyard with a perfectly pleasing view.
"Xiaxia, sit down. Little Li, bring the soup over!" The old lady was as loving as if she were her own grandson.
Du Ruoxia was flattered and hurriedly took the food over. She saw Yang Zeyan looking at her with a wronged expression and lowering his head. She and Yang Zeyan were far apart because of the old lady.
Du Ruoxia had already arranged on the way here that Yang Zeyan would sit next to her, so that she could pass on a message privately if she was ever at a loss.
This won't work anymore, and besides, the old lady doesn't need to be like this anymore.
"Thank you, Grandma, you should drink too!" Du Ruoxia didn't dare look at Yang Zeyan and turned to talk to the old lady.
"Grandma can't stand all this stuff, it's all for you and Zeyan!" The old lady smiled and pushed it towards Du Ruoxia. "These are good things, they'll help you hold the baby!"
Du Ruoxia took two sips and immediately spat them out. The old lady was being way too direct!
"Hehe, Grandma, we don't need it yet. Besides, we're in good health, so we don't need it!" Du Ruoxia said, pushing the soup aside.
Just then, the waiter arrived and asked if she wanted the food served now. Du Ruoxia quickly nodded.
"Yes, yes, I'm hungry!"
She gestured for the waiter to take the soup away, but the old lady gave him a look and the man left sheepishly.
"Quickly, Grandma prepared this yesterday. I want to see you two drink it!" The old lady pushed the soup in front of Du Ruoxia and Yang Zeyan.
Du Ruoxia and Yang Zeyan exchanged a glance, their expressions both unreadable. In the end, they had no choice but to raise their heads and drink.
After finishing a bowl of soup, Du Ruoxia felt warm all over, but soon she felt a bit hot, even though it was broad daylight!
She looked at Yang Zeyan's condition, his face was composed, and he seemed to be doing well. Du Ruoxia couldn't help but feel that this was something targeted at women.
During the meal, the old lady treated Du Ruoxia with the warmth of a mother, constantly piling food onto his plate. Du Ruoxia was overwhelmed by the full bowl.
After the meal, the restaurant served tea and snacks, and Du Ruoxia thought the restaurant was rather avant-garde.
Du Ruoxia was so full that she got up to go to the toilet, but just as she was about to talk to the old lady, someone pushed open the door.
A girl who wasn't much younger than him stood at the door and walked in with a smile.
"Hello, Grandma Yang!"
The old lady heard the sound, looked up, and smiled kindly when she saw the girl.
"Oh, it's Wanqing from the Song family. What brings you here today?"
The little girl seemed quite polite. "I heard from the restaurant staff that you were dining here with your granddaughter-in-law, so Grandma asked me to come and see!"
As the girl spoke, she looked at Du Ruoxia, who had stood up, her scrutinizing gaze undisguised. Yang Zeyan's expression darkened upon seeing this.
Du Ruoxia sensed the girl's disdainful gaze, which was tinged with hostility. She was puzzled; she and Song Shifeng's sister shouldn't have any grudges, right?
"Wanwan, let me introduce you. This is your brother Zeyan, and that is his wife. You can call her sister-in-law!" The old lady happily introduced Song Wanqing.
Du Ruoxia smiled professionally and nodded to the other person in a calm voice, "Hello!"
Song Wanqing was displeased that Du Ruoxia did not show any enthusiasm. She glared at Du Ruoxia when the old lady could not see her before speaking.
"She really is quite a looker. No wonder Brother Zeyan turned down Sister Yarou!"
The moment she opened her mouth, Yang Zeyan and the old lady's expressions changed drastically. They looked at her with warning eyes, and Song Wanqing felt intimidated by their stares.
"Grandma Yang, I... I'll go back and have dinner with Grandma first!" She didn't dare stay any longer and tried to leave after saying this.
"Wait!" the old lady said first.
Song Wanqing turned around in confusion. The old lady was still holding her hand with an angry expression, showing no intention of letting go.
"I misunderstood what you just said. You and your sister-in-law should explain things properly to avoid arguing when you get back." The old lady looked at Song Wanqing without allowing her to refuse, and her grip on Song Wanqing's hand tightened.
