Chapter 7 Not worthy of being a doctor

Chapter 7 Not worthy of being a doctor

At the critical moment, Du Ruoxia snatched the syringe from Gao Yuyang's hand.

"Who are you? Can you take responsibility if you delay the patient's treatment?" Gao Yuyang looked the young girl up and down.

“If you make a wrong diagnosis and then prescribe medication haphazardly, that’s what delays treatment.”

"Are you a doctor?" Gao Yuyang didn't consider his medical skills to be the best, but he was still quite accomplished. How could he be bossed around by a brat like her?

The flight attendant said, "Young lady, this gentleman is a doctor from the Capital Hospital, there's no mistake about him."

Du Ruoxia frowned, unable to resist reprimanding Gao Yuyang:

"You're a doctor, right? Didn't you hear from the patient's family that the patient has a history of heart disease? You arbitrarily ignored the patient's past medical history, distrusted the patient's family's statements, and even diagnosed the patient with a fabricated illness. I really don't know how you became a doctor!"

Then Du Ruoxia took the stethoscope to listen to the old man's heart and said to the flight attendant, "Could you please get me the blood pressure monitor?"

Seeing that Du Ruoxia looked quite professional, the flight attendant went to get a blood pressure monitor.

Seeing this, Gao Yuyang was furious. "Where did you come from, you little brat? Do you even know anything about medicine? And you're just pretending to listen to my heart?"

Du Ruoxia quickly grabbed the blood pressure monitor to check the old man's blood pressure, saying, "Auscultation and blood pressure measurement won't take much time."

"Comrade, why don't we listen to the young lady's suggestion? She seems quite confident."

"I'm the doctor, and you expect me to listen to some brat who just popped up out of nowhere? Fine, I'll see what this little girl is capable of. But if anything happens to the patient, I won't be responsible!" Gao Yuyang's tone became harsh.

Liu Quankang's heart was actually tipped in favor of Gao Yuyang, after all, Du Ruoxia looked like a teenage girl, not a doctor at all.

"Flight attendant, if something happens to my dad, can this little girl take responsibility? Don't let an amateur diagnose him!"

Just as Liu Quankang was about to urge Du Ruoxia to leave, Du Ruoxia finished measuring her blood pressure: "Diastolic pressure 198, systolic pressure 110!"

The old man, who had been convulsing, stopped and instead clutched his head, crying out in pain, "My head! It hurts so much! My head hurts so much!"

"What? How can your blood pressure be so high?" Gao Yuyang broke out in a cold sweat...

"Dad, Dad, what's wrong? Doctor, doctor, what happened?" Liu Quankang asked Gao Yuyang, then went to help his elderly father, but the old man vomited all over Liu Quankang.

Du Ruoxia also asked Gao Yuyang, "Do you still think it's epilepsy?"

Gao Yuyang was speechless.

"Sodium nitroprusside, do you have sodium nitroprusside?" Du Ruoxia asked the flight attendant.

The flight attendant quickly searched, "There it is!"

Fortunately, the train's medical kit always carries medications for these chronic diseases.

As she was about to put the medicine into the patient's mouth, Gao Yuyang stopped her, once again demonstrating his "professional knowledge".

“Even if my diagnosis was wrong, you can’t give him blood pressure medication just because he has high blood pressure. Based on his current symptoms, I don’t think we can rule out the possibility of a stroke.”

"Are you crazy?! Don't delay my rescue!"

Du Ruoxia rolled her eyes at Gao Yuyang. He could be ignorant, he could misdiagnose due to lack of experience, but he couldn't be so stupid as to stop her from saving people.

She's a doctor who's worked in cardiothoracic surgery for over a decade; how could she not know about heart problems?

"Just as you prevented me from using diazepam, I also question your diagnosis."

"Are you worried that if my diagnosis is correct, you, as a doctor at the Capital Hospital, will lose all face? Comrade, if you really have such a despicable thought, then I must tell you clearly, you are not fit to be a doctor!" Du Ruoxia forcefully broke free from Gao Yuyang.

Just as Gao Yuyang was about to stop him, Xiang Xinming hugged him from behind, saying, "Quick, saving lives is the priority."

Gao Yuyang still didn't believe that Du Ruoxia, a young girl, could really save people. "Patient's family member, I tried my best to stop you. If anything happens to your father, I won't be responsible."

Du Ruoxia had already given the old man his blood pressure medication, and after a short while, he felt his headache lessen.

Every ten minutes, Du Ruoxia would check the old man's blood pressure.

“The patient’s blood pressure is dropping, but I still recommend that he be admitted to the nearest hospital.”

The flight attendant nodded: "I'll contact 120 right now. I'd also appreciate it if you could help me summarize the passenger's symptoms."

"Of course."

After the call connected to the emergency room, Du Ruoxia began to briefly explain: "It's an elderly male patient. I suspect he has hypertensive encephalopathy. He took sodium nitroprusside, and his blood pressure has now dropped to just over 160..."

Liu Quankang may not be a good person, but his filial piety is genuine. Seeing that the old man's complexion had improved a lot, he naturally understood that it was all thanks to Du Ruoxia. He almost knelt down to Du Ruoxia.

"Thank you so much for your kindness; my dad was able to escape with his life!"

Du Ruoxia quickly helped the man up. "The old man already has high blood pressure, and he got emotional, which is why he suddenly fell ill. I suggest you go to the hospital later and have a thorough check-up. After that, try to keep your emotions stable and avoid any extreme highs or lows."

The train stopped at the station shortly afterward, and Liu Quankang and his father got off and took an ambulance to the nearest hospital.

The police tape was removed from the train, and everyone returned to their seats. Luo Xiaojuan followed the crowd to find Du Ruoxia.

"Ruoxia, you're amazing! We saw everything just now."

The little girl's eyes were full of admiration.

Gao Yuyang should have stayed away, since he had confidently claimed it was "epilepsy," but now he's been proven wrong.

It's unbelievable that Du Ruoxia accidentally saved the right person. How could a medical student who just graduated from university be defeated by a greenhorn girl? And what a ridiculous joke that was made.

He was still somewhat unconvinced and said, "Are you a medical student at that school?"

Du Ruoxia looks like she's only in her teens, not like someone who works.

Xiang Xinming noticed the red ribbon on Du Ruoxia's wrist, and said with a smile, "This comrade should be one of our top generals among the educated youth who returned to their hometowns."

"A sent-down youth?" Gao Yuyang frowned. "Did you go to university?"

"No, what? You look down on me?" Du Ruoxia said, "I'm just a returned educated youth, I just graduated from high school, and no one in my family studied medicine, but I'm better than you, a self-righteous doctor from the Capital Hospital. You can't argue with that."

"Young man, if you're not good at it, practice more. Making mistakes isn't scary. What's important is having the courage to admit them. You have talent, so learn from this. I hope you can truly become a qualified doctor."

After Du Ruoxia finished speaking, she led Luo Xiaojuan away and returned to their seats in the carriage.

"Big sister... no, comrade... wait for me!" Xiang Xinming caught up with him. His seat had been vomited on by the old man, and the cleaning lady hadn't cleaned it up yet. He didn't want to sit there.
